Home Sweet Home- McCoy

Forever_Trekkie Here you go! I hope this was along the lines of what you wanted haha ;)

It took everything for you to not start jumping up and down on your toes as you stood next to your husband while the two of you watched earth grow closer. Leonard was having a hard time understanding why you were so keen to go back to earth but he could cut off his arm if it made you happy.

You grasped Leonard's hand and looked up at him, your face almost hurting with how hard you were smiling. "I have a feeling you are so going to hate what I'm planning but I don't care."

Leonard couldn't help but chuckle, wrapping his arm around you and pulling you to his chest, his chin resting on your head. "It will take a lot more than going back to earth to get me to disagree with you." He kissed the top of your head and you closed your eyes contently.

"Oh well, I have a feeling I may have found out how to do that."

You stood next to your husband again but on Earth and standing in front of his old childhood home. And you weren't holding hands now. In fact, his arms were cross and his brow was furrowed.

"You weren't kidding about finding a way to get me to disagree with you." He turned to you and gestured to the house before you. "What in the world are we doing here? I thought this thing burned down the moment the devil of my family left it."

You snickered, turning to him with bright eyes. "I bought it!"

Leonard dead panned. He dared not move as he searched your face and every movement of your body ready for you to place your hand on his arm and giggle saying you were joking. But you just smiled your dazzling smile, making it hard for him to keep his own straight face. After a few more seconds he turned to the house and let out a breath.

"Woman. There had better be a good reason you bought his dump of a place."

You let out a nervous breath and relaxed at his gentle but guarded tone. You reached over and gently pried his arms away from his chest and took both hands in yours as you led him up the steps and into the old home.

"Well, I was hoping we could renovate it. Together."

This time he chuckled. "I'm a doctor, not a construction worker."

You smiled as you reached up on your tip toes and pressed a light kiss on his lips. "I know how good you are with your hands." You winked. "This will be a piece of cake."

Leonard watched you, his beloved and sometimes irrational wife, practically skip down the old hallways, humming happily. He couldn't help but smile as he imagined his home that he once hated suddenly becoming filled with your laughter and the sounds of children running around.

He shook his head and let out a breath as he placed his hands on his hips, looking around the old dump. Your voice echoed throughout the house followed by the sound of wood popping and clattering. Leonard let out a low chuckle as he picked his way through the debris following the echo of your voice, adding his own bass to your melody.

You let out a little groan as you stood up from a crouch, bringing a small stack of tiles with you. You hobbled over to your side of the house, the side you told your husband he wasn't allowed to see yet. The sound of power tools was music to your ears as you sat the tiles down in the small bathroom you were about finished with.

Five months into this and you were finally seeing big changes that helped you stay excited and determined to finish. Surprisingly you were the one who became discouraged more often than Leonard and he ended up being the one who would wrap his arms around you, rubbing his stubbled chin on your cheeks and tickling your sides as he told you not to give up and pick a new project in the house to finish. It was in moments like that that made you fall all the more in love with him.

But now you weren't getting discouraged; you were getting anxious.

The Enterprise was taking an eight month recovery period under going upgrades and repairs as crew members took care of home business and officers trained new cadets.

You didn't want to go back into space in three months. You wanted to stay here with your husband who wasn't actually grouchy all day every day. Ironically that was becoming you. The two of you haven't spent this much time together and you weren't ready to go back to lunch breaks and bi-weekly nights together.

These past months you were reminded why you loved him. Not that you had forgotten but it was nice to be held at night, to be surprised with back hugs and cheek kisses. Paint wars and demolition competitions reminded you he had a playful side.

Set backs and minor injuries reminded you how intuitive he was even though you were sure he had called Scotty on how to install the ovens, despite his constant reassurances that he, in fact, did not.

He even got into the habit of telling you childhood stories as different parts of the house started to take shape, almost making him emotional.

And then late at night when the day's work is done he would hold you and massage your rough hands or rub your shoulders when you knew full well that he was just as sore if not more so than yourself. But he insisted he was fine and then would proceed to kiss the back of your neck up to your hairline.

You were going to miss this.

You sighed as you set the tiles. You were going to make yourself miss the man and he was literally in the other room. So you took a deep breath and squared your shoulders. It was time to get back to work. The two of you were planning on having it finished before being deployed again, wanting to live in it for a little bit to make it truly feel like home. But that meant you had to stop wallowing over what you couldn't control. Besides, you had a major project to finish and you only had a few more weeks of discrepancy before he was bound to find out.

Leonard stood gawking at his wife as you stood in the nearly finished kitchen comparing colors as you spooned ice cream into your mouth. A ghost of a smirk splayed on his face as he just took you in. You were beautiful with your work smudged clothes, dirty arms, messy hair, and slightly rosy face. You have been working so hard on your personal project and you wouldn't let him look at it. At first, he thought it was because you were almost finished but now he was sure it was because you weren't finished yet.

You have been getting tired more often, wearing baggier clothing and craving the most oddest things. He stopped asking after you woke him at three in the morning for a meat-lovers pizza with raspberry jam and corn. He just figured you were stressed about the house and the work you refused to let him help you with.

YOu shifted and turned making him jump and quickly look away, blushing as if it was wrong for him to stare at you. He turned back to the last outlet and screwed in the covering then stood, nodding to you as he tried to ignore your knowingly adorable smile.

"I just have the rest of the outlets upstairs to finish. I'll leave you the ones you need for your side of the house."

You just nodded before turning back to the color pallets. But before he left the room he heard you groan. And it wasn't a good sound. He dropped the bucket full of socket covers and rushed back into the room. You were on the ground clutching your stomach.

"(Y/n)?!" He hurried to your side, pulling you to him as you struggled for a breath.

You gave him a tight smile and tried to sit up with his help. "Sorry. I'm all good. Just hit my side on the edge of the counter."

Leonard raised a brow and nodded unconvincingly. "Right." He stood and took you under your arm gently and lead you to the couch. "Sit and relax. You've done a lot today."

You shook your head and pulled your arm away. "No, honey, I'm fine really."

"You haven't been yourself lately." He nodded to the tarped part of the house. "You haven't made much progress."

You opened your mouth but nothing came out. Instead, Leonard was taken aback when tears started to well up in your eyes and fall. He reached out and gathered you into his arms as he set the both of you down on the couch. He kissed the top of your head and rubbed your back.

"What is it, sweetheart? You and I both know you weren't anywhere near the corner of the counter."

You let out a breath and wiped your tears but still clung to your husband's shirt. "But I wanted it to be a surprise."

Leonard smiled. "I'm sure what you have done so far can be surprise enough."

You buried your face in his chest as fresh tears started to fall. "It doesn't matter any ways. We won't be here to appreciate it anyway."

Leonard furrowed his brows as he pulled you away enough to look at you. He wiped your tears and brushed your hair back. "We have three months left and we will be finished with everything in one week at most. We will have a hand full of weeks to break in the new place." He smiled and kissed your forehead and resumed rubbing your back. But that seemed to only make it worse.

YOu all but wailed as you threw yourself on him and sobbed into his shirt. "But I need six more months."

"Six more months? What on earth are you making?" Leonard chuckled.

You sniffed but kept your face covered in his chest. "A baby," you mumbled.

Leonard's smile faltered. His comforting hand on your back froze. "A baby?" He repeated just as quietly.

You nodded, moving your face to the side to talk clearer. "Surprise."

He gently pulled you back again, his eyes wide and searching your face before venturing lower to your middle. "How long?"

You gave him a shy smile. "Three or four months. I forget. I only saw a doctor last month, just to be sure."

"I am the worst doctor ever. I can't even tell when my own wife is pregnant with my child," he whispered to himself, effectively making you smile and laugh.

You reached up and stroked his stubbled cheek. "You are the best doctor and will be an even better father." You leaned forward and kissed his lips lightly.

That brought him back to reality. He looked at you and smiled, reaching down to place a hand on your now noticeably tiny bump. "Explains a few things, that's for sure." His smile grew as he suddenly, in one swift motion, picked you up bridal style. "And you know what this means?"

You laughed but shook your head. "We get to stay here to have the baby?"

He shook his head solemnly "Sorry love, I could probably keep us here for another week or two but it's going to be a space kid."

You frowned but nodded for him to go on, surprising yourself with how willing you were with that plan. "So what now?"

Leonard smiled wide again. "Now we get to rent a home for the rest of the break and let professionals finished up the house as I get to pamper my beautifully pregnant wife."

You blushed as you wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling yourself closer to him. "How selfish. I'm sure you wanted to hire someone the moment you saw the place."

He made a face as he thought about it. "At first yes, but I'm glad I didn't." He lowered his face, his nose almost brushing yours. "I now have some of my most favorite memories with you all thanks to your dumb idea to buy this place."

Happy tears fell down your cheeks as you moved your head up just enough to press your lips to his. You felt him walking to your shared bedroom as he deepened the kiss. You giggled as he placed you on the bed gently, hovering over you, littering your face with kisses and whispers of a future filled with more happy memories in this new home you both helped to create.
