Fine By Me- Scotty
"Look, I appreciate you wanting to help officer, but I need someone who knows what acceleration binders are and know what a simple wrench looks like." Scotty tried to keep his temper in check as he sent the third officer away. He wiped his face with his hands and looked down at Keenser.
"What? Don't look at me like that. The poor lad looked like he just finished with diapers." Scotty defended as he put his hands on his hips, looking out over the engine room of the Enterprise. Keenser made a humph sound and went to go climb on something, fully expecting Scotty to come yell at him later to get down.
You had been just assigned to the Enterprise and you could not wait to go see your favorite red shirt. Three years is too long to be apart from a dear friend such as Scotty. You thought you were going to start dating, but he got stationed on a remote planet and you lost all contact since then. You were extremely nervous and hoped that he remembers you even just a little bit.
You took care to take the right turns and the right turbo lifts to get to the engine room where a kind, little Russian kid had told you where you would find him. You were about to exit the turbo lift when it suddenly opened and the man of your search entered. You stood there frozen as you took in the small, little changes that have happened over the years. He is still as attractive as he was three years ago. You tried to hold back a laugh as you heard him mumble something about prepubescent twits being sent to him to just make him angry. Oh Scotty, you haven't changed much have you?
Scotty then called out for a deck that you assumed where the rooms are held. You let him keep doing what he was doing, absolutely loving that agitated face of his. You brought one of your hands to your mouth to disguise a laugh into a cough. Unfortunately, you were not as successful as you had hoped you would be. Scotty stopped mid-sentence and cleared his throat. Sparing you a mere glance, he looked straight ahead with his hands behind his back.
"Excuse me, lass. It's been a long day. As you can tell."
You nod, not wanting him to find out it was you just yet.
"And if you don't mind me saying, I think Kirk is purposefully doing this to me. I swear that man wants me to hate him!" Scotty throws hands up and shakes his head, glancing at you once more.
Again, you just nod, trying your hardest to keep a large smile off your face. But when you didn't react verbally, Scotty looked over at you. You stayed facing forward, hoping he won't recognize you, this was just too fun. Scotty does a double take and his eyes widen.
"Oi! I know you!" He reaches out to turn you to look at him, but the turbo lift doors opened and you stepped out.
You glance at him out of the corner of your eye as he follows you out, the both of you not really sure what floor you were on. "Honestly Scotty, I would hope you do." You smirk, still looking and walking straight ahead.
You hear an audible groan of frustration as you feel a pair of strong hands take you gently by your shoulders and turned you around swiftly. You came face to face with Scotty and that's when you let yourself crack a smile. Scotty's mouth hung slightly open and his eyes were wide, running along your features as if drinking you in.
"Hey there Monty." You kindly whisper as you look up and giving him a half smile.
You didn't get to say anything else as you suddenly found yourself wrapped in his arms and pressed against his chest.
"(Y/n)." He whispers into your hair.
Your arms wrapped around him as you gave him a squeeze. You smile as you bury your face in his neck, breathing in his engineering musk that you could live off of. After a few seconds of silence, Scotty let out a low breath and dropped his head onto your neck, taking his time breathing you in and remembering the feeling of you in his arms. You smelled like you always did, freshly bloomed flowers and clean clothes. Scotty truly didn't think he would ever see you again, let alone hold you. There were so many things left unsaid. Maybe now he may have a chance to say them.
"I can't believe you are here lassie." Scotty pulled away and did his best blinking back sudden tears. "On the Enterprise and letting me rant on as I do about those wee officers." He laughed as he rubbed his face with his hands then placed them on his hips.
You laugh and cross your arms lightly, cocking your hip. "I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see you so unhitched. Your head still bobs when you get upset." You smirk.
"You were always the observant one." He chuckled then motioned with his hand toward you. "Now tell me exactly what you are doing here and so suddenly too."
You opened your mouth to explain your presence when Scotty's communicator went off. With a frustrated grunt, Scotty threw open his communicator. You giggle at his obvious impatience.
"No, I don't need any assistance with the-"
"Commander, I understand you do not need assistance in your engineering tasks, but I believe the species we have docked with do." Spock's voice echoed off the walls of the close quarter's hallway. "The Captain is forming an away team and has asked for you to bring one other competent officer with you."
Scotty's eyes darted up to look at you and you nodded, smiling wide. "Of course. Tell him I'll meet him at the air-lock." With that, he shut his communicator.
"I sure hope I am competent enough for you and your 'awesome engineering skills'." You laugh as you look at him in feigned skepticism, moving your hands in awe rotations.
Scotty laughed as you both started walking to the air lock, wrapping a strong arm around your shoulders. "I don't think this trip will be as bad as I thought."

"Look we are not here to hurt you, I was told by my Captain, that man you just finished talking to, to come aboard your wreck of a ship and work on your warp engine!" Scotty's rated shirt hung on his broad frame as he lifted dirtied hands to show he meant no harm.
You groan from somewhere on the floor behind the leader of these reptilian humanoids. Scotty and yourself had been in the ship's engine room fixing the coils for a whole twelve minutes before the both of you were mercilessly fired upon until you got shot and Scotty called for a cease-fire. Watching you writhe in pain on the floor did things to Scotty's breathing that he wished to never experience again. The both of you are covered in scrapes, bruises and debris from wayward shots. Two of the creatures came up behind him and started to beat him until you wheezed out a distressed cry.
The leader of the unknown species stepped up to Scotty and lifted his chin, turning his head from side to side. "You humans are too assuming. How would a ship like this need help from such a primitive species as you?" Scotty spit blood on the floor and yanked his face out of the gross hands of his captor.
"Says you. We weren't the ones who played the damsel in distress then killed the poor sap heroes all because we thought ourselves superior." That earned him a swift and solid smack on the face.
Your eyes bugged as you watched you dear friend spit blood out again. Luckily, this time, you were able to make eye contact with him. You hoped he saw the worry and sorrow in your eyes as you silently pleaded with him to keep his loud mouth shut before it up killing the both of you. He looks away as soon as the leader reptilian came up behind you and moved you with his foot to get a better look at you.
"And would you look at this. A female. Would you believe me if I told you I haven't seen one in a very, VERY long time?" He leaned down and you did your best to not gag at his stench. His eyes blinked twice and then he traced his hand over your cheek. "Put this one in my quarters. Kill the other."
Rough hands grabbed you and violently dragged you father away from Scotty. His eyes bore into yours as you got one last good look at him before you would never see him again. But something in the way he looked at you made you pay closer attention. He was fumbling with something behind his back, his eyes darting twice to a side panel by the engine then to the captures behind you. You gave him a questioning glance then you saw it. He had a plan and need you to distract them. You let the barest of smiles pull at your lips before you let your rashly concocted plan go into action.
You let out a grunt as you let your eyes roll to the back of your head as you made your body go limp. You wince when you land on your leg wrong. Reptilian hissing filled the room and you felt the air thicken with frustration. You crack open one of your eyes a hair to check if it worked. Scotty stood as all the creatures rushed to see what happened to you. His side of the plan took action as he rushed to a few panels around the room, placing timers and fending off the occasional attacker. As you saw him grab a few phasors and make eye contact with you, nodding, you smiled and got to the fun part. You swept your leg in a circle, knocking down several of the reptilian humanoids, as you stood and punched a few in the face and chest of the few who were still standing.
"Lass!"
You turn to Scotty's voice as soon as the creatures on the floor started to stand. He tossed you a phasor and you caught it easily, quickly using it to drop them like flies. Scotty smirked as he finished up rigging his system. You backed out of the room, stepping over unconscious bodies and was quickly joined by Scotty. You grunt and duck as one of them got too close for comfort. Scotty shot him in the arm and he fell. You turn to thank him but let out a yelp of pain as one of the fallen grabbed your ankle. You look down and try to kick him off. It was the leader.
"You are mistaken to think you can get away this easily." He coughed out as he held on with an inhuman about of strength that extremely hurt.
Scotty stepped forward and wrapped his arm around you, pulling you from the fallen captain, kicking his scaly face, hard. "Next time, search a Scotsman everywhere."
You leaned into Scotty's chest, holding him close as you kept pressure off your injured ankle. Scotty pulled out his communicator and had called to be beamed up. He turned to you and placed a gentle kiss on your temple. Your bodies dematerialized and the enemy ship lost it's engine soon after. Once on the Enterprise, you both got seen to. Luckily your ankle wasn't broken, just badly sprained. Scotty wandered over to you as soon as your nurse left.
"Maybe I would apply to be a tactical officer."
You smile and reach for his hand, lacing your fingers together. "Only if I get to be a security officer."
Scotty chuckled as he sat on the edge of your bed, brushing a few hairs out of your face. "Sorry lass, I like knowing you aren't a target to be shot at."
The look you gave him did something to his breathing he wished to feel again. You opened your mouth to answer, but you didn't get as far as taking a breath before your lips were covered with his. The moment was too short, but you needed to breathe. You pulled away laughing, resting your hand on his chest.
"As much as I liked the outcome of this predicament, I'd rather not have to go through a firefight to get a kiss from you."
He winked as he kissed you again. "Fine by me."
I'll be adding a few more of my own. I go see the consultation doctor on Tuesday and get the surgery done later next week. Thanks for the reads, comments, votes, and requests! Keep them coming at your leisure :)
