Déjà vu- Scotty (part two)
Yeah yeah yeah, hate me all you want but I had this finished already. I'll get you that other second part soon. Enjoy this one in the mean time ;)
Your slippers made quiet slapping sounds as you walked through the massive engine room that called your name. It has been eighteen days since you were saved by the Enterprise crew and you have yet to remember how you ended up in an escape pod in the first place.
Mr. Scott has been extremely kind, taking it upon himself to see to your well-being. Though you would tell him time and time again that it wasn't necessary, he insisted. Not that you had an issue with him checking in on you. In fact, you found yourself gravitating toward him, yearning to be near him whenever the two of you were apart.
It wasn't until your third night that you would wake up in the middle of the night, or whatever they call night, itching to walk around. Namely in the engine room. You couldn't put your finger on why you wanted to be there but it just felt right.
So there you were, trapesing round machinery in your slippers and night clothes, a thin shawl wrapped round your shoulders. You ran your hand along a wall of pipes, the metal cold under your fingertips. You looked around, marveling at the sheer awesomeness of the place. Somehow you felt almost connected to the place. You rounded one of the corners and stopped in your tracks.
You were in a new part of the engine room, deeper and colder than the rest of the places you have explored. But that wasn't what made you pause. It was the obviously drunk man purring himself a glass of amber liquid, mumbling to himself about something.
You were about to sneak backward and away, leaving him to his thoughts but your leg hit a metal rod. If the ding the reverberated through the place not alert him to your presence then your cry of pain did the trick. You hobbled on one foot as you bit your lip, cursing your stupidly clumsy self. You watched as Mr. Scott slowly turned, holding the now empty drink bottle up like a weapon.
"You best stop right there. I'm armed and dangerous," he slurred.
You let out a small laugh, carefully walking up to him. You placed your hand on his, lowering it to the desk in front of him.
"And very drunk. I'm quaking in my boots." You gave him a small smile.
Scotty blinked, looking down at your slippered feet then back you at your face. "You're not wearing any boots." He almost sounded offended.
You sat next to him, drawing our shawl tighter around you as you glanced at your feet. "That's the point genius." You sat back, shivering slightly. Your foot still ached but you tried not to show it.
Scotty sobered, as best he could, once he caught your shiver of cold and wince of pain. "Are you alright, lass?"
"No better than you will be in the morning."
Scotty chuckled and stood, extending his hand to you. "if that's the case, then we have to get you to your room to lay down." You took his hand, standing with a wobble. "You look a wee chilly. What were you thinking, walking around down here with that sad excuse of a wrap?" Scotty reached up and fingered the thick fabric, his hand brushing your shoulder.
Goosebumps raced up your arm and warmth traveled up your neck to your cheeks. You looked away as if interested in something in the piping. You felt his eyes on you, compelling you to give him some sort of answer.
Your voice was quiet, almost like you were ashamed. "That's the thing, I don't know what I'm doing down here exactly. I wasn't exactly thinking. It just felt...right."
Scotty nodded, rubbing the back of his neck as he looked behind you at the reactor. "She does have that effect on people. At least with me." He let out a hiccup, making you laugh. "Ah. What am I saying. Come on, lass, I didn't pull you out of that sealed pod for you to freeze on me."
He held your hand pulling you gently to his side. His radiating warmth helped tide you over until you were back in your room. You thought back to what he said about the engine room having that effect on people. How he called it a "she". You stood at your doorway, smiling at the Scotsman as he yawned. You suddenly felt extremely tired.
"Mr. Scott, do be careful. I would hate to think you were working while in such a state." You smirked, followed by a yawn of your own.
"Well see here. First off it's Scotty. Secondly, I'm quite proud of my ability to hold my own." But he changed his tune once he saw the look on your face. "Alright. Alright. I'll cut back on the night drinking only if you promise to find me before you go exploring. I'd hate for you to get lost and freeze, catching your death."
Surprisingly, now that it came to you, you never really got lost. It was like you know where everything was despite not knowing what anything was. You yawned again, nodding. "If you don't mind me finding you at odd hours of the night."
Satisfied with your answer, Scotty nodded. "Don't you worry your pretty little head. I hope your food feels better. Goodnight."
You gave him a small smile, blinking slowly. "Thank you. Goodnight, Scotty."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since that night, the two of you made midnight engine room meetings a common occurrence. Except you were properly clothed and Scotty was dry. The two if you would talk about everything and nothing. But a mutual sense of being drawn there, drawn together everything hung in the air. Unsaid and untouched; almost tangible.
It wasn't until one night after a long day of hosting a peace treaty meeting between two new species that Scotty felt it was time to tell you what had been on his mind the moment he helped you out of that pod. He was finding himself growing attached to you, looking forward to talking every night, not once regretting not getting enough sleep. He only wished you wouldn't find him crazy. Or at least not any crazier than he already was.
It was a bit later than usual when he made his way down to your usual spot. Scotty was unsure how he wanted to approach the topic of you being somehow attached to the ship. So he took a large gulp of the strongest stuff he had and headed down to the engine room. He thought back to you as the Enterprise, begging him with your eyes to stay with you.
His heart hurt remembering the look on your face when you decided to stay. But maybe now, he can have a second chance with you. He would spend every night with you in the engine room for the rest of his life if it meant creating new memories in hopes of winning your heart once more.
But as he stepped into the little clearing by the warp core he stopped in his tracks, smiling at what he saw. You were asleep with your head on your arm, your mouth slightly agape. Your gentle breaths moved some hair that had fallen over your face. He took tentitive steps closer, not wanting to wake you.
You must be exhausted. Scotty would always make sure you were well taken care of but one thing you had no control over was your urges to sit in the engine room. You told him how it made you feel whole, at peace. But you were tired, you wanted to know what it meant, all these feelings and the lack of memory before the pod. But Scotty was sweet to you, helping you feel like you belonged, memory or no.
Scotty took a seat next to you, reaching over and stroking your hair away from your face, loving the feel of your soft skin. You let out a sigh, subconsciously moving closer to the warmth of the man next to you. Scotty smiled again, resting his elbow on the desk next to you, watching you rest.
Acting on impulse Scotty leaned over and kissed your cheek then closed his eyes and let out a breath of his own, rubbing his face. Keeping his face in his hand Scotty found his voice.
"Lass...(Y/n)..." he kept his voice low.
At the quite call of your name, your eyes opened slightly. Your heart beat wildly at finding the handsome Scotsman so close, his face hidden in his hand. He hadn't noticed you had woken up so you kept your breathing even and closed your eye though you were most definitely awake.
Scotty continued, rushing through is words. "I have a feeling I know why you want to be here. I have...met you before. In an odd chain of events, you appeared as the human version of the ship Enterprise. You were beautiful. You are beautiful. You asked me to stay with you, to live a life with you and I wanted to say yes. But...You are her, the Enterprise, back with me again and I don't want to lose another chance with you."
You opened your eyes again as tears pricked at the back of your eyes, Scotty's face still covered. You leaned forward and kissed the back of his hand gently, making him jump. Your eyes locked with his but he looked away.
You reached up, cupping his cheek to face you. You give him a small smile, stroking his cheek with your thumb. "Well aren't we quite the pair."
The both of you chuckled but Scotty sobered, leaning into your touch. "Am I daft to hope?"
You shrugged. "As daft as I am to say that I believe you."
Scotty sat up straight, your hand falling into his. "Wait, you do."
You nodded, looking round the engine room purring. You weren't lying. The moment he told you about knowing who you were things started to make sense. Memories of a bright light and a loud voice talking to you, taking care of you. But only slight memories, like a dream.
You turned back to him and smiled at the stupid look on his face. Before he could question you again you flung forward, wrapping your arms around his neck as you pressed your lips to his.
Scotty didn't complain as he wrapped his arms around you, his heart soaring at how perfectly you fit so close to him, your lips moving in time with your joined heartbeats.
At this point, you didn't care what happened before, if you had a life before the pod. You only cared about the future, the future that filled you as Scotty held you tighter. His fingers dug into your sides, making you pull away and giggle.
Scotty breathed you in as he just hugged you. "It's not every day a man finds a woman better than his ship, let alone a woman who is his ship." He stroked your cheek as you gazed lovingly up at him like before. "I'm not much of a sappy romantic but..."
You laughed, leaning on his chest, closing your eyes as sleep finally pulled at your eyelids. "What are you kidding, it's me. You could be talking for hours about ship specs or how you plan our first date and I wouldn't be any the wiser. I like you for you."
Scotty let out a whooping laugh, picking you up bridal style and walked you to your room, his heart full as he gazed at your resting form in his arms. "Thank you for giving me a second chance," he whispered before kissing your brow lovingly and leaving you to sleep restfully for the first time.
HA! I liked this one. I wasn't sure how to end it. So, sorry if it ended weirdly haha
