By All Means- Sulu

Thank ya T_Jefferson for the request and thank you soooo much for being patient. I am slowly recovering. Get your shots yall, it sucks getting two different flu viruses at the same time.

You cursed for the umpteenth time as you chucked the useless tool in your hand over the crumbled wreckage of your poor ship. You let out a frustrated sigh as you placed your hands on your hips and leaned back a bit, facing the hot sun above you.

"Why? Of all the trips that had to go wrong, it had to be this one."

A sudden gust of wind whipped at your hair and threw dust into your eyes. You squinted as you shielded your face from the sun, or whatever star was shining on whatever planet you were on. You looked over at your little make-shift camp and you let out another sigh. For all the solo missions you have been on, you have been through worse. But back then you had a crew on coms and someone knew to come get you.

This time you were alone completely. So much for being an independent researcher and sneaking away from the U.S.S. Charger.

You coughed as another wind gust blew through the valley. You had taken what you needed out of your ship but almost regretted it when you learned about the nasty wind storms that popped up in the area. You were only going to land for a moment, having become over excited about finding a rare medicinal herb. But having misjudged the timing of the wind gust you found yourself rolling to a stop. Your ship was damaged beyond repair. But you had hoped you could fix the transmitter.

You flopped on your bedroll, tossing your arm over your eyes. It had been three days since the crash and still no sign of anyone looking for you. Not that you held out much hope for that. The crew of the Charger didn't like you very much. Your personal ways of research and being a nurse scared them honestly, despite your findings to be groundbreaking and your medical talent being anything but lacking.

You took a swig of water as you checked your provisions. You could last a solid week with what you had and that's stretching it. You leaned against a large boulder and looked at your pathetic ship. With your somewhat limited engineering knowledge, you figured you could try one more thing. Instead of sending a large single message across the stars you could send short little messages up to around the planet. Maybe a passerby may hear it and have the heart to help.

It took you until nightfall to even find the right materials. You huddled in your makeshift tent, tinkering away at a small transmitter. Your fingers and brain hurt from working on it for who knew how long. You felt yourself drifting off as you finished an old school S.O.S. signal, the lights on the device blinking alive.

The last thing you remembered was yawning and hoping that those blinking lights will save you from your stupid actions.

Sulu rolled his shoulders as he checked his away team on their preparations. It was him who found the distress signal so, naturally, Kirk chose him to go investigate. It was odd, only one life form could be seen from the ship but the wreckage was extremely excessive like the ship was made to man more than one person. After making sure the life form was human and alive, Sulu entered the transporter room. He nodded to the station worker to beam him and his crew down.

Sulu expected things to go easily; grab the person, beam back, fly away. But that didn't happen until a bit later.

You adjusted the cloth over tour face so only your eyes were showing. As soon as you heard the sound of a transporter you got excited but you weren't sure if they were friendlies or not. Not wanting to take the chance, you grabbed a cloth and a long piece of wrecked ship, getting ready to defend yourself.

As they materialized you saw an alien woman holding something that was pointed right at you. Without a second thought, you swung your crude weapon only to find it shot out of your hands. You turned to the shooter, raising your fists in defense as you stared him down. Your heart was beating so rapidly it hurt and your body tensed.

You acted without thinking. You went at him, throwing punches and landing kicks. But he did a good job evading most of them, blocking expertly. You got frustrated and started to hit harder, letting out some pent up anger. You let out a cry of frustration as you practically jumped at him, your eyes brimmed with tears. Instead of pummeling your shooter you found yourself stopped easily by gentle hands.

"You finished?" A smooth voice filled your ears. The cloth over your face was pulled down and you blinked to see the speaker clearly. "It's almost like you didn't think we were part of Starfleet."

Starfleet? Wait. Your head suddenly hurt and breathing became difficult. You blinked again, pulling out of the man's grasp and gave him a good look over. Yellow shirt, short dark hair, and Starfleet insignia. Great. You just attacked your rescue party.

You looked at him apologetically. You opened your mouth to say something but you suddenly became dizzy. You felt yourself sway before falling into the man's arms, yet again. You tried to keep your eyes open but your body refused to listen to you.

"I'm about to pass out," you croaked.

The kind man smiled down at you as he held you securely. "By all means, you deserve it."

And with that, you were out.

Sulu picked up your small frame, cradling you close as he ordered his away party to gather what was left of your supplies and anything that was salvageable. Once he was beamed back onto the ship, he made a beeline for the med-bay, not only for you but also for him. You're stronger than you look.

Sulu didn't leave your side even after the nurses fussed over him. He couldn't get the various emotions that you expressed when he found you. Determination, anger, desperation, and fear. For some reason, it bothered him that you were left all alone and probably fearing that you might never be found.

Bones made his way over to Sulu, standing next to him as he folded his arms, looking at your now resting body. "You know, she woke at one point and asked for "the dark haired ninja man". You mind telling me what in the world she meant?" Bones looked at Sulu with an incredulous smile.

Sulu chuckled as he rubbed his side and arm where you landed some pretty good hits. "She attacked us as soon as we landed. She is incredibly skilled in hand to hand combat."

Bones snorted. "Ha! Just what we need, a rogue Starfleet medical officer. Good job not breaking any of her bones. She is incredibly malnutritioned. But what I want to know is why she's so far away from her assigned ship and all alone."

Sulu took in your peaceful face as you slowly regained your strength. "Medical officer? What ship is she assigned to?"

"U.S.S. Charger. Seems she has a record for breaking regulations in almost every field known to Starfleet. But it's her medical findings that have me intrigued. I have a feeling we have a feisty one on our hands." Bones turned to leave, patting Sulu's shoulder. "Don't get too attached lover boy, I wouldn't be surprised if she tried to take a shuttle pod and come back to this same place."

Sulu just nodded, not really paying attention. He just couldn't shake the amount of emotion you had shown when he found you. He had a feeling there was something else going on. Sulu never took himself to be the type to be smitten, but the moment you started fighting him with all you had he couldn't help but be somewhat attracted. Walking over to you, he took your hand.

"Now what exactly makes a woman like you desert her post on another ship?"

You shot up, breathing hard as the sound of medical personnel came bustling in to see to their now awake patient. But you wouldn't have any of it. You brushed them aside as you called for the cross looking doctor who helped you before.

"Hey. You. Where is the guy who came and got me?"

Bones stood, reaching out to take your arms as you swayed on your feet but you glared at him making him stay put. "He's at his post. I can call for him. But I need you to tell me exactly what you are doing out of bed."

You shook your head as you blinked hard, doing your best to remember to breathe. "Later. I need to know what he had done to my stuff that I left behind. And I need that officer who helped me. I have been looking for someone like him."

Bones shook his head as he called for Sulu. "Med-Bay to Bridge. Mr. Sulu you have been requested. Please be quick." The doctor then turned to you, pointing back to your bed. "Now go lay down. He's coming."

You nodded and hobbled your way back, your breathing finally calming down. It wasn't two minutes when the bay doors opened and a worried yellow shirt practically stormed in. You instantly became happy at his presence. You reached out to him, stumbling into his arms as he caught you easily.

"Sulu, right? Thank the stars, I have found you!"

Sulu's expression of worry changed to confusion. "Care to elaborate?" He carefully asked you as he gently placed you back on the bed, sitting on the edge next to you.

You took his hand and moved his sleeve up showing some bruising from when you practically attacked him. "You have been the only one I have faught hand to hand and not end up within an inch of your life. You are physically strong enough."

That was when Bones entered. He held up a PADD and you instantly recognized the file on it. "So I take it that's what all this is about."

You nodded eagerly, taking Sulu's hand. Sulu couldn't help but blush. He found how passionate you were about your work and how you were lighting up made him feel like he had to find ways to keep that smile on your face and that glow in your eyes.

You turned to Sulu, nodding to the PADD in the doctor's hand. "I have been researching a gene that enhances the body but I need a female host, me, and a male host. You. IF you would be willing."

Sulu blinked coming back to reality. "What are the enhancements for exactly."

You sat up straighter, your earlier fatigue forgotten as excitement at the possiblity of your work beign finished filling you with hope. "There are some humans and spieces alike who, when in an interspecies relationship, have children who end up a bit more weak or frail than their pure blood species cousins. But this gene I have found will help those children natrually regain stregth and no longer be in pain or afraid to live life." You scooted closer to him, both hands on his shoulders. "Please. I am so close, I just need a male host."

Sulu turned and looked at Bones who gave him a slightly shocked nod. He turned back to you and couldn't help but smile. "By all means, if it means helping others, count me in."

You nearly squealed as you threw your arms around his neck, thanking him profusely.

"So I'm no genius but doesn't that mean you two have to hook up in order for your thing to work? And you're both humans." Bones butted in, crossing his arms.

You pulled back from Sulu and blushed. "I'm actually part of another humanoid species, Arbazan. I can just take a sample from his blood after the germination period. So don't worry, I'm not asking for that kind of help."

Sulu almost felt disappointed. Instead, he shrugged. "Doesn't mean I won't try. I have a feeling you are going to be with us for a while so how does dinner sound?"

Your mind went blank and you looked at Bones to see if he heard what you did. He gave you the most 'duh' face you had ever seen. So you looked back to Sulu, nodding. "Yeah. Yeah of course. I'm at your mercy for being so willing to help."

Sulu laughed, taking your hand in his. "I don't mind the idea of playing Adam to your Eve in this new finding.

You smiled so wide you were sure you were stuck that way. So maybe crashing that ship wasn't so much as a mistake as it was fate. Or so you hoped. Besides, Sulu was hoping for some way to keep you on the ship, even for a little bit longer.

Sorry if it sucked. I hope it was something like what you hoped for. I'm still working on requests! I haven't forgotten!
