Beam Me Up- Scotty

This is part two of Echo with Scotty (duh), but I blended it with another idea I had. I hope you guys don't mind it too much haha

"I've never beamed three people from two targets onto one pad before."

You let out a winded laugh as you helped one of your crew mates off the landing pad, Kirk close behind.

"Scotty, dear, your excitement on that prospect is slightly unnerving." You handed your wounded friend to a medical officer, leaving you to collapse on the ground.

Scotty shot up from his seat, tossing his head set aside. He helped you up, keeping his arm around you as he walked with you out of the transporter room and to sick bay. He pecked your temple twice, smiling against your skin.

"You were brilliant out there."

You chuckled, wincing as you hobbled along side him. "Just doing my job. Thanks for getting us out of there."

"Just between you and me," Scotty held you close as he looked around as if making sure no one was listening, "it was a wee bit nerve wracking to have to concentrate so hard to not lose my wife."

You smacked his chest lightly with the back of your hand. "Your captain was there too, he's a bit more important than I am."

Scotty growled. "Not to me, he isn't. Besides," he kissed your forehead lightly before continuing on down the hallway to the med bay to get you checked, "he's not holding my own flesh and blood."

You smiled, looking down at your slightly bulging stomach. "Now wouldn't that be a story." Suddenly your eyes widened and you looked up at your husband. "Penny. How is she?"

Scotty gave you blank look, shrugging one shoulder. "Fine, I assume."

You shook your head as you entered the med-bay, Scotty directing you to a bio-bed to sit down on. "Scotty, we ended on a fight before I left, remember."

"Sure."

You rolled your eyes. "So I take it you hadn't talked to her like I asked you to."

Scotty puffed his chest out, raising his brows in gentle defense. "I was a wee bit busy saving my wife from certain death. I'm sure Penny is just in her room, packing. She's a big girl."

You let out a breath and laid down, closing your eyes as you rested your hand on your belly. "Monty, dear, would you please go talk to our daughter. She's leaving tomorrow and I don't want her having a vendetta against us as she trains to be a weapons expert."

Scotty let out a barking laugh. "She'd make one hell of a commander." He leaned over and kissed your forehead lightly, stroking some of your hair back. "Alright, dear, I'll go calm the fiery lass."

You reached up and stroked his face. "Thank you, Mr. Scott."

"My pleasure Mrs. Scott." He winked then left to go find his pouting daughter.

Scotty wasn't worried about Penny. She was maturing well, strikingly beautiful, and a true Scotsman despite having never been to Scotland. For that, Scotty was proud. But now he was worried. He checked her room, the mess hall, and the rec center but Penny was nowhere in sight. He was about to rush back to you and start freaking out when he passed a pathway to the engine room and overheard something.

Quiet, echoing cries.

His heart dropped as he drew closer to the sound, his surroundings quickly becoming familiar. The three of you hadn't been to the little generator room in almost ten years. Sure, Penny would hide in there from time to time when she was playing with the other children on the ship. But she was embarrassed about playing the echoing game, so she stopped.

Now Scotty entered the room to find his not-so-little daughter sitting in the corner, her knees pulled up to her chest and her eyes red as she sniffed. Scotty's heart softened and his body relaxed as he walked up to her, his footfalls echoing softly. Penny didn't look at him or say anything as he sat next to her, his not so limber legs splayed out in front of him.

Scotty leaned his head back and looked up at the tall ceiling, watching the energy arks that moved from generator coil to generator coil. He rolled his head to the side slightly, glancing at Penny.

"Your mother knows I'm bad at things like this and yet she insists I come and talk to you. Might as well ask me to pilot the ship."

Penny didn't crack a smile as she leaned her head forward onto her arms.

Scotty bit his cheek, thinking. "Is it about mum being pregnant?"

Penny shook her head, still silent.

Scotty let out a breath. "Well, do ya mind tellin' me what it is then because I'm only a man. Your mother and I are worried about you. You'd think, as your parents, you would tell us when you are having a hard time with anything."

Penny mumbled something but Scotty couldn't hear.

"You're gonna have'ta repeat that, lassie."

Penny's head shot up, red eyed and tears streaming down her face. "You're not my parents! You're not my dad and (Y/n) isn't my mom. And I'm not your 'lassie'!"

Her last words echoed throughout the room, every echo a new ping of pain to Scotty's heart. He had it in his right mind to yell right back at her, but he knew from past experiences it would end with both of his girls being mad at him at the end of the day. Instead, Scotty closed his eyes and imagined her as the little girl who fell asleep in his lap in this very room. With renewed calm, he turned to his little girl and quietly replied.

"Hey now, you know not a lick of that is true."

Penny held his gaze, her eyes hard but she didn't last. Her chin trembled and fresh tears brimmed her beautiful eyes. With a hiccup, she leaned into Scotty as he opened his arms wide. The room was soon filled with the quiet cries of his daughter that he would give up his life for and more if he could. Scotty held Penny to his chest, stroking her soft long hair. He would stay here all day if he could, Penny wasn't the only one who didn't want her to leave for the Academy.

After some time her crying slowed and turned into sniffing. Pulling her away slightly, Scotty smiled down at her, wiping away her tears as well as stray hairs from her face. Penny looked down, ashamed. She never really cried, she would glare and scream and give the silent treatment but crying was rare.

"You are as much my daughter as Scotland is my home." He pulled her into a warm hug, no tears this time. "And (Y/n) is your mother. She changed your nappies and cleaned your messes, fed you and stayed up late at night holding your wee body as you fitfully slept with a fever. We both love you very much."

Penny squeezed him tight with her face buried in his chest, stifling her voice as she spoke. "I just don't want to be left alone. I don't want you to forget about me. I don't want to be shipped off to never see you and mom again."

Tears pricked Scotty's eyes as he swallowed back the lump forming in his throat. "Don't you worry your little head. We would keep ya on the Enterprise if we could." He pulled her back and smiled wide. "But you're getting all grown up now! And ya still planning on working along side each other, eh?"

Penny sniffed and smiled, nodding. "Yeah. Though I'm not sure how. I'll be in weapons, maybe even on the bridge."

Scotty winked, tapping the side of his nose. "We will be fine close making sure your new weapons and my ship get along. It will be quite humbling getting told what to do by my own sixteen-year-old daughter."

Penny giggled. "I'll be older by the time Starfleet assigns me. I'll have to go to the academy for at least four years."

"Ah yes but our own Captian did it in three." Then he nudged her with his shoulder good-naturedly. "That McCoy boy is already a year in."

The young weapons expert blushed, shoving her father back. "You know I don't care about him."

"Oh yeah, sure. You don't care about him. Just fancy him and his wide shoulders and cute smile and-"

"DAAAAD!"

Penny tackled Scotty, trying to cover his mouth as he continued to describe Christopher McCoy who was just a couple of years older than Penny and was thusly described to you by the very daughter beating up your husband. Both their laughs echoed lively, surely reaching the whole ship. Scotty won, tickling Penny into submission, holding her arms to her side as he hugged her back to his chest. Penny struggled but finally gave up, laughing as happy tears fell.

Scotty smiled, chuckling as he lightly kissed the top of her head. "You are the smartest girl I know and you are going to scare those Starfleet professors senseless."

The clicking of heeled boots echoing down the corridor drew Scotty and Penny's attention just in time to see you walk in, smiling wide.

"And here I was worried you guys were doing something productive."

Penny shot up, running up to you as Scotty stood up, chuckling. You gave him an odd look as you hugged Penny, not that you were complaining, but he just shrugged, smiling. You smiled back, extremely glad you had ignored Bones and left the med-bay to go find the rest of your family.

Penny pulled back, smiling up at you as she took your hands ready to drag you out of the generator room. "Come on mom, I need your help packing. I want to make sure I don't look stupid when Christopher comes to pick me up."

Scotty stepped forward draping an arm around your shoulders, kissing your temple. "Go on lass, we'll both join ya in a minute."

Penny smiled and nodded before rushing out of the room, her pep obviously back in her step. You watched your once reluctant daughter just willingly go pack for the Academy. You then turned to your husband and placed a well-deserved kiss right on his lips, taking him by surprise. But Scotty didn't mind as he kissed you right back.

You pulled away and reached up, stroking his cheek. "You are the most amazing father, did you know that?"

"Perhaps, but it doesn't hurt a man to hear it every once and a while." He gave you a wink and you laughed.

Hand in hand you both walked to Penny's room, the two of you talking about what an amazing future your daughter had in front of her and what a wonderful big sister she will be.

Three Years Later

"Scotty please, I need you to look at these changes and approve them."

Scotty turned on his captain and let out a breath. "I can't very well allow a bunch of hooligans to come waltzing into my ship and go messing around with her innards!"

"Well, why not?" Kirk was starting to get annoyed with his chief engineer.

"Because I bloody don't know who ordered those changes!" Scotty nearly yelled.

You sighed as you held an open communicator out to him. "Lucky for you I have them right here."

Scotty scoffed, taking the communicator and speaking into it roughly. "You better have a damn well good reason to think yourself important enough to touch my ship."

"Do you kiss my mom with that mouth?"

Scotty's eyes widened and he about dropped the comms unit. "P-penny?"

"How about those energy turrets, Mr. Scott?"

Scotty smiled wide, straightening up and puffing out his chest with pride. "Not a moment's delay Miss Penny."

You smiled too as your daughter's laugh came through. "Sounds great. Now, one more thing."

"Anything, lass."

"I am dying to see little Ethan! Beam me up, dad."
