You yawn as you file away the last of the medical documents that the good doctor seemed to let pile up. You blink a couple of times and straighten his desk before exiting his office in hopes of getting a few hours of shut eye before your shift tomorrow. A sudden shout from the hallway and the rush of bodies through the Med-Bay doors dashed your hopes of getting any rest. You quickly turn around and throw on your gloves and medical apron. You turn to the closest red shirt helping another red shirt limp in, leading in a group of other injured crewmen.

"Place him there. What happened?" You assessed the situation, signaling for others to be placed on bio-beds.

"There was an explosion while we were fixing a big system of wiring."

"How many injured?" You asked as you saw to one of the crewmen.

"Seventeen, I think. I know Crewman Jay got electrocuted badly."

"Alright, thank you." You turned to one of the late night nurses, Nurse Mae. "Call in Nurse Peters and Nurse Land, we are going to need all the help we can get."

Nurse Mae nodded and you rushed around to make sure everyone was at least alive before you opened up your communicator. You waited as it beeped for the doctor to pick it up. "Come on, Leonard. The one time I need you..." You whisper under your breath.

Suddenly the communicator beeped and the sound of a gravely southern drawl dripped from the other end. "Jim, I am not in the mood."

"Sorry cowboy, you are just gonna to have to be. We have and emergency in sickbay. You think you can wipe the slobber off your face and help us out?" You halfheartedly joked as you worriedly watched out of his office windows as Nurse Land and Peters entered with Mae, rushing to help the more critically injured.

"(Y/n)." He suddenly sounded a bit more awake.

"Yup, that's me, your head nurse who is currently swimming in stress. Take your time tho, no worries." You rolled your eyes as you stepped out of the office to help Nurse Land get a patient to calm down after a particularly painful burn treatment.

"It's too early for this." McCoy grumbled on the other end as you hear him get out of bed.

"Coffee on me if that helps. See you soon." You grimly smiled to yourself as you put away the communicator.

Bones rubbed his face as slipped on his clothes in the dark, not particularly liking the idea of turning up in just his boxers. He hurried to rush out of his room and to sickbay. He ran his hands through his hair in a vain attempt to make it seem like he didn't just get out of bed.

Bones didn't know that his actions were futile until it was a bit too late.

The doors of the Med-Bay slid open and he sought you out first, ignoring the sudden pause in activity as well as the gawking from all his female nurses. He found your back facing him as you wrapped a female officer's arm, oblivious to the arrival of the groggy doctor.

He cleared his throat, causing you to jump slightly and turn. Your eyes widen and your breathing hitched, but for just a moment.

Before you stood the doctor in the most attractive condition yet. His dark hair looked like he had run his hands through it a million times, it sticking up every which way but still looking as soft as ever. His eyes were a bit droopy due to just being woken up but they still held his evident frustration in being disturbed, yet they turned kind when they met with your (e/c) ones. His clothes were what made him almost drool worthy; his shirt was blue but it was baggy like he had slept in it a few times but took it off then threw it back on because it was inside out. His checkered shorts hugged areas you know you'll never forget and showed off his toned legs you had no idea he had.

An unwarranted blush brought you out of your inspection, clearing your throat and throwing him some supplies. "At least you aren't wearing your bunny slippers." You smirk at him, turning to the staring nurses and female crewmen. "As you were. The doctor does, in fact, sleep."

Bones knit his eyebrows in confusion as he watched you walk around to make sure all the patients were seen too. He caught Nurse Land's eye and she looked away with a small smile, sending a knowing look to Nurse Mae across the room.

Still confused, Bones went up to you and asked in a low voice, "Is there something wrong with the way I look, nurse?"

You looked at him for a moment and make a big show of looking him up and down. "Not for some of us, doctor."

He looked at you like you just said he looked like Spock. You smiled to yourself as you turned to attend to another injury. He looked down at himself and let out a growl as he rolled his eyes and looked up at you, glaring. He grabbed a PADD and looked at the report of all the injured as he stormed up behind you.

As he looked at the PADD and the corresponding patients, Bones leaned close to you and angerly whispered, "When were you planning on telling me I look like Jim after one of his late nights?"

You snorted then tried to cover it up by clearing your throat as you nodded to Nurse Mae to help one of the patients to a bed to sleep in overnight. "I honestly have no idea what you are talking about." You moved on to the next person and motioned for the doctor to help you with the next patient. "Did someone say something, doctor?"

He huffed and gave you a look that made your insides flutter. "Next time I plan on leaving you to fend for yourself, nurse."

You rolled your eyes. "Oh please, not like you don't do that already. He needs a sedative before we regenerate his burns." You commented before you left the burned patient in Nurse Peter's care, not liking the lingering looks she gave the tired doctor. Why, of all nights, do all the nurses have to be female?

"Hey, I'm the doctor here." Bones tossed at you as he gave an officer a hypo and sent him on his way.

"And I'm not the one wearing my shirt inside out." You quipped back as you checked a red shirt and gave her the go-ahead to leave.

"It's-" He looked at his shirt and slumped his shoulders. You watched as he grabbed for the back of his shirt, but you rushed over and placed a hand on his still covered chest.

"You aren't exactly alone, doctor."

"What? I thought a nice show would wake everyone up." The southern doctor smirked at you before going into his office to fix his shirt.

You filled your cheeks with air and let it out slowly as you turned to the last critical patient, your eyes wide as his bold remark. This was going to be a long shift for sure.

You rubbed your eyes as you leaned against an empty bio-bed, a PADD slowly slipping from your other hand. You were startled when you saw the doctor rush forward and catch the PADD from hitting the floor, setting it on the  bed behind you but not before giving you a glare. You matched his glare and rolled your eyes for good measure before you pushed yourself from the bed and stretched.

"I would appreciate it if you didn't break my PADDs. I would like to get some sleep a soon as possible."

You scoffed as you watched Nurse Land, Mae, and Peters leave giggling to themselves as they caught one last look at their underdressed superior officer as the other shift came in. "At least you got some sleep." You yawned and looked at McCoy, not at all trying to hide how tired you felt or how your eyes roamed over his disheveled state.

Bones blinked as he realized how tired you really were. Dropping his pride, he took a breath before looking around the Med-Bay. A couple of the critical patients were asleep on beds and being seen to by the next shift, the other head doctor nodding to him as he entered his office.

"Come on, let's get you to bed." Bones whispered to you as he gently grabbed your arm.

You shook your head slightly and tried to pull away from him but you stumbled in your weak state causing him to grasp you by your shoulders. "It's alright sir, I can walk to my room myself." You send him a small smile as you grabbed the PADD from the bed and left for your room, yawning yet again.

Bones didn't fight  you but looked after you, worried at how tired you seemed. With one last look around the room, he left to go back to bed, ready to forget his whole wardrobe mess up.

He hadn't been more than ten minutes when he heard his doorbell chime. Bones let out a growl with a string of choice words as he walked up to his door and pushed it open.

"What is it now?"

You stood there suddenly no longer tired as McCoy stood there shirtless. "Abs..." You whispered under your breath.

"Parden me?"

You blinked and looked up at him, clearing your throat. "Sorry doctor, I just needed to make sure you got this. It's the report on what happened." You yawned then leaned against his doorframe as you weakly handed him the PADD you had taken with you earlier.

"(Y/n), you didn't have to bring this by now, you are about to fall over from exhaustion. How many shifts did you do?"

You rub your eyes and snort. "Not including the emergency? Three. Nurse Jared was sick so he asked me to cover for him. He has no idea how much he owes me." You said under your breath, yawning. You closed your eyes for a blink but suddenly felt yourself fall forward.

"Good God, woman. You work too much."

You hummed as you faintly felt yourself get lifted up, leaning into a warm chest that smelled way too good for your own good. You tried to fight him off as he laid you down on his bed but his strong hand on your shoulder helped you decide to just give in.

"If I had only known wearing that is what got you into my bed, I would have worn it sooner." You heard him mumble as he slid in under the covers next to you causing you to smile.

You snorted again and turned with your eyes closed and cuddled into his bare chest, liking the fact that he welcomed you by wrapping his arm over your waist. "Mmmm, not all of us are perfect."

Bones smiled as he looked down at your now fully asleep form before turning off his light and falling into the most restful sleep he has had in a long time.
