Bones (part 2 )

There she was, a faint figure not so far from the street where he was standing. It was unusually dark and she was barely visible, but the light still shined on her enough to make out her nose and lips. Her clothes were not of her Starfleet uniform, but rather, clothes that could warm her from the cold. He lifted a hand up and placed it on his forehead, keeping the rain from blocking his view. He made his way towards her, slowly and steadily so he can make out a path. It seem though, that with each passing step he took, the distance between them grew longer and longer. However, there was one thing that grew closer and louder by each passing minute.

"This is as quiet as it gets. Hush down now, go to sleep..."

He kept his sight fixed on her, as he started to quicken his pace. The cold air would lightly hit him, as if someone was brushing his face and hair ever so slightly.

"We were once perfect , me and you. We'll never leave this room..."

Feeling like he would never catch up to her, McCoy stopped and began to catch his breath again. He placed his hands on his knees and started to breathe very heavily, not being able to hear the foot steps that were coming his way. He looked up from his position and saw her , the girl who's voice haunted him everyday and every night.

He straightened himself up, his eyes never leaving hers. He placed a hand on her cheek, feeling concern for the girl in front of him. She hid her face behind her hoodie, but the stains on her cheeks were enough evidence for him to know that she was indeed crying. She buried her face on his hand, and felt immediate comfort. The two of them remained this way, until the sky began to get darker, and the air colder.

She slowly pulled away and gave him a weak smile, and within a second....she was gone. McCoy frantically searched for her, trying to figure out what was going on. She couldn't just have disappeared like that, not unless she might of beamed onto a nearby starship, but there was nothing. The girl he desperately fell for was gone, disappeared right in front of him, like if it was all a dream....

"Ms. (L/N) may I speak with you for just a minute?"

You rubbed your eyes, and followed the man outside the room. He led you into his office, where he pulled out a chair for you, and then sat on his own.

"Ms. (L/N), I am aware that you are worried but-"

"I'm not leaving his side."

"Ms. (L/N)- "

"(F/N), call me (F/N)." You say, sounding a bit tired and annoyed.

"Ms. (F/N), please do be considerate of your body and get some rest. My nurses have claimed that you hardly leave his side. You barely eat, and you barely sleep."

"I'm fine, doctor." You say as you turned away from his gaze.

"Oh really? Well tell me, when was the last time you had a healthy meal? When was the last time you slept for at least eight hours?"

You didn't know how to answer him, or rather, you didn't want to answer him. You already knew what he was going to say to your reply, he might as well spare you the lecture.

He looked at you for a while, and then let out a small sigh in defeat. He adjusted his glasses and began to clear his throat.

"There is another thing I wanted to talk to you about..."

You quickly turned your head towards him, giving him a concerned look.

"It has been a year now, and he still hasn't given sign of recovery. I think now is the best time for you, Ms. (L/N), to consider the fact that....he might never wake up."

Tears began to form in your eyes, and your lips began to quiver.

"I WON'T DO IT!"

You shot up from your seat, towering over the man in front of you. You glared at him for while, taking in deep breaths to calm yourself down. After a couple of minutes, you began to head towards the door. You slowly opened it , and turned to face him one last time.

"I will never do it..."

With that, you began to make your way back to the room where he was staying in.

You took a seat next to him and began to brush his hair.

"This is the calming before the storm, This absolution is always incomplete. It's always bittersweet..."

------

In a blink of an eye, McCoy found himself in a different setting. There were large buildings around, and the streets were no longer empty. There was a large crowd gathering around something, but he couldn't quite make out what is was. Traffic was heavy, and policemen were doing their best to get people out of the way. The siren's loud wail echoed throughout the city, drawing in more and more people with every passing minute. He started making his way towards the crowd when he came across two frail, old women.

"The poor thing wouldn't stop crying, I mean who could blame her."

"That poor girl...covered in his own blood..."

"I heard that he was a Starfleet officer, just coming back from a mission..."

Now that definitely got McCoy's attention. He started to quicken his pace, pushing people out of the way to make a clearer path. Once he got there, everything suddenly grew quiet, and something else grew louder.

"You color my eyes red, your loves not alive it's dead..."

A young woman was holding her lover in her arms. She was crying, desperately trying to get a response from him.

"PLEASE DON'T DO THIS TO ME! YOU PROMISED....FOREVER, REMEMBER!"

She cradled him back and forth, until the paramedics came and took him away. Her clothes were stained with his blood, and she seem to have a firm grip on a couple of papers that she had at hand.

"This letters written itself inside-out again, when rivers turn to roads and lovers become trends..."

McCoy's eyes began to well up with tears. The girl who stayed by his side, the girl who held onto those letters from way back, and the girl who sang to him whenever he was down, was the same girl who was covered in his very own blood. That meant that the man she was clinging onto was none other than ... himself.

"H-H-H-Huuuuuush...."

He wiped the tears that were already falling, and slowly made his way towards her. He didn't know how to exactly approach her, but he kept on going. He was about to lay his hand on her shoulder, when everything ... and everyone began to disappear, simultaneously.

As if she recognized his presence, she turned to look at him, and gave him that same weak smile. McCoy's eyes were wide, he already knew what was going to happen next.

"This is where it ends."

"Please, don't go." He said.

He wrapped his arms around her waist, and buried his head on the crook of her neck. He held her tightly, refusing to let go of her. However, that didn't stop her from leaving, and in an instant, she vanished. McCoy fell down on his knees, and placed his hands on the ground. "Wake up," He said in a low voice. Tears were now falling.

"Dammit, just wake up already!" He yelled with all his might.

Suddenly, a sharp pain began to spread throughout his body, which caused him to lose his balance. He began to feel dizzy, and his vision was getting blurry. He would try to get up, but failed with each attempt. In the end, he decided to let the pain takeover , until there was nothing but darkness.

"This is where it ends..."
