Chapter Two
Spock watched Jim talk to Bones about his stupidity. It had been very illogical for Jim to take on Khan alone and Spock was a little angry that Khan had put his hands on Jim and hurt him. Even though Spock thought his feelings about that was illogical, he couldn't help but feel that way.
The last time they had encountered Khan Jim had died trying to save his crew because of Khan. Spock hated the guy as much as a Vulcan hated illogical people. Or better yet...as much as he hated Stonn.
Spock stood with his hands behind his back as he followed Jim up to the bridge. Spock resented Jim most of the time. His ability to be carefree and easy going yet serious all at the same time. But those traits were one of the reasons Spock liked Jim.
Love had always been questionable to Spock until he met Jim. When they met, Spock had been angered by Jim because he had managed to get under his skin without even trying and then he had made Spock smile.
Spock loved to hear Jim laugh and he loved to see him smile. He loved how Jim's eyes would light up when he was happy or how they'd twinkle when he'd get a mischievous idea. But one of the things Spock really loved was Jim's patience with him.
Despite how illogical Jim was at times, Spock loved him just the way he was. And no one would change that. However Khan hurting his Th'hyla had angered him so much that he wanted to beam himself down to help Jim but that would have gotten them no where.
"Spock how do you think Khan got free?" Jim was asking him as they entered the lift.
"I do not know." Spock said simply. "But he must have had help."
Jim's nose scrunched up as he thought about it. "Yeah, he probably did. We just don't know who."
Spock watched Jim as he became silent and he thought about what to say. What the logical thing would be to say but when nothing came to him he said what was on his mind. Illogical.
"I wasn't fond of Khan placing his hands on you." Spock said, a hint of anger entering his tone of voice.
Jim looked at him, confusion swirling in his eyes. "What?"
Spock stopped the lift with a press of a button and turned to look at Jim. He took in Jim's blond hair, his blue eyes, the skin that he so badly wanted to touch. Spock stepped closer to Jim and stared down at him;Jim's face stared back up at him.
A voice on the elevators communication systems interrupted the moment and Spock found himself mentally cursing as he took a step away from Jim.
"Jim, Spock. You guys might want to get up here." Sulu said.
Jim restarted the lift and spoke into the communicator. "We're on our way."
Spock placed his hands behind his back once again, turning to face the lift door. He knew his face was a little pink but not by much. When Jim didn't ask him about what he had been doing a few moments ago, he decided to forget about it and continue to act normal.
What he had done had been illogical and wrong. Even though it felt right, it felt wrong. Spock solved problems with logic but there was no simple solution to this that was logical. Emotions weren't logical and he knew that better than anyone. Yet...he couldn't help but feel emotions when he was around Jim.
The pair entered the bridge and Jim gasped at what he saw. His mother's unconscious form was displayed on the transmission feed and Jim started forward but Spock held him back.
"What the hell is this?" Jim demanded.
"This is what I call a trade." Khan said stepping in view of the feed. "You for your mother. A good deal wouldn't you say?"
Jim glared at him, his hands curling into fists as he felt anger rise up inside of him. "How did you even find her?"
Khan chuckled. "I have my sources."
Jim's lip twitched upward and he crossed his arms. "Really now? Are you so sure that that's my mother?"
Khan narrowed his eyes. "What are you saying, Kirk?"
Jim smirked and tilted back on his heels. "My mother's dead asshole. Sulu, get us the hell out of here."
Spock was left standing where he was, watching Jim leave the bridge. Spock had a good idea of where Jim was going but decided that he needed his space. So Spock gave it to him.
A very short ass chapter sorry.
