Chapter VI: Back to Normal
As Fox and Falco returned to the table, only Krystal and Slippy were left.
"Wheres Peppy and his daughter?" Fox wondered aloud.
"They went to go talk about their mother and wife who had passed" Slippy had replied, sitting awkwardly.
"So," Krystal asked. "What was that about?"
"What was what?" Falco replied.
"You and Fox just talked, did you not?" Krystal said, locking eyes with Falco. "What about?"
I know your secret, Krystal said to Falco through telepathy.
Falco sighed. "Slippy, can you go over there and annoy Peppy and his daughter for a bit?" Slippy gave a quick solute and ran off like an idiot.
"We may as well tell her" Falco told Fox "She says she knows."
Fox let out a heavy sigh and looked down at the table to avoid eye contact. "Krystal," Fox said as he raised his head slightly "We have a confession..."
Krystal cut him off before he could speak. "You and Falco had an awkward kiss? Its ok. Its perfectly normal. I can tell Fox is interested in me than he is in Falco."
Falco looked away for a minute. Fox and Krystal looked at him as if they wanted to hear his input. He glanced at Krystal staring at him, most likely reading his mind, so he tried to keep his head clear. He looked over at Fox. He was also looking at him. His eyes jumped between the two. Krystal stopped looking at Falco and started looking at Fox. Most likely giving him info she found in his mind to Fox via telepathy. After a few minutes, Falco finally spoke up. "What? You guys are looking at me like I killed someone!"
A large smile burst on Fox's face as he burst out laughing. "Falco, you could have told me!" Fox said at a medium volume so that the others didn't hear their conversation. Fox wrapped his arms around Falco as Falco kept an annoyed look on his face.
"Okay! I wasn't sure if I liked you..." Falco stuttered. "THAT way..." Falco saw that Krystal was dying to talk with Fox alone. "Imma... go see if Peppy and Lucy have killed themselves out of annoyance yet." He said as he walked off.
Fox tried to look away to avoid eye contact, but finally, Krystal spoke up.
"Look Fox. I left Starfox because it was too much pressure for me. When Falco called me and told me how you were reacting, I was devastated. So, This morning, I made a decision that I am willing to stick with. I have decided to rejoin team Starfox."
Fox regained eye contact with Krystal. "Wh-what?" Fox stammered as he raised his head slightly.
"You heard me."
Fox tried to hide the smile that tried to escape onto his face. "Okay. But, Before you go, Hold up your right hand."
"Fox!"
"I'm serious!" Fox said while letting a little chuckle escape his mouth as Krystal sighed and held her hand up. "Now repeat after me. I, Krys-"
"Stop it, Fox!" Krystal interrupted
After a few minutes of laughing and giggling, They finally hugged. They heard clapping coming from the bushes near the lake. The rest of the team emerged, clapping for their friends that their friends had finally reunited.
"Its about time!" Falco said in a sarcastic tone, clapping the hardest out of them all secretely, thinking seeing them date would give his mind closure about the entire kiss deal.
And so, with team Starfox reunited, reformed, and stronger than ever, the team shared stories until late hours in the morning when the sun arose from a long night's sleep.
...
Fox and Falco drove in the same car, since Fox wasn't able to drive here. It was silent until halfway back home. Finally, Fox spoke up to break the silence.
"Falco... What you did back there took alot of courage... and I admire that in a person. Courage." Fox finally spoke, glaring at Falco with a warm smile. Falco looked over at him briefly and gave him a small, warm smile back.
"Don't mention it." Falco said, keeping his eyes locked on the road.
"Im serious! It takes alot of courage to tell someone you like them... Even though it was indirectly." Fox said with a trailing voice.
"You know," Falco spoke again after around a minute of silence. "You are a great friend. I hope nothing happens between us to ruin it. I believe we will be friends for a long time."
"Trust me," Fox replied. "No matter what happens, we will always be friends. And hey," Fox punched Falco's arm playfully. "If me and Krystal doesnt work out... we can always give it a try."
A grin emerged from Falco's face. "I would like that." He said as he pulled up to the Great Fox and parked before they went in.
