Chapter II: Back In Touch

"Lets try this again" Falco thought as he readjusted the hologram in the middle of the meeting table. The hologram opened and brought up blue static and the noise for it. PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. "God dammit!" Falco thought as he was about to close his hologram. Suddenly, a blue Vixen appeared.

"Falco?" The hologram asked

"I need your help on something" Falco said

"Oh no" Krystal said "What is it this time?"

"Its nothing too bad!" Falco said. "Plus, remember those times where I helped YOU?"

"No!" Krystal said

Falco laughed nervously. "Right. Well, first, be quieter. Trust me, Fox cant hear us."

"Wait. First, HOW ARE YOU DOING?" Krystal said with a whisper.

"No time to catch up." Falco said. He held his finger up in a 'wait for it' gesture and a few seconds later, They heard a wail of despair from Fox's room.

"Oh my." Krystal said. "Whats wrong with him?"

"Well, hes taking it hard on himself that you left." Falco said. "He thought that you didn't love him, but HE loved YOU. He thought that you left because of your relationship."

"That's not at ALL why i left!" Krystal said. "Bring him out here so we can talk"

"No!" Falco said. "It would make him more sad since he KNOWS you probably wont come back. But, I have a plan."

Falco told Krystal the plan, Quietly and cautiously. After a while, Krystal said "That DOES sound like a good plan. But how are we gonna do it?"

"Leave that to me" Falco said. "All you need to do is get a bit of money."

"OK. But how IS Fox?" Krystal asked

"Like i said, not so good. My attempts to cheer him up are futile. He lives as he is already dead, barely eating or sleeping. He moans and sobs all-" Falco was cut off by the sound of Fox's door opening

"Fox is coming!" Falco whispered. "Ill call you back as soon as i can!" he said as he shut the hologram.

Fox's fur on his face was visibly shiny and looked sticky. Either he had been sweating, crying, or both.

"Hey Falco" Fox said in a sort of Monotone voice.

"Hey buddy." Falco replied. "Still caught up in..." Falco didn't want to make Fox sadder by reminding him of Krystal. "Sit down and tell me whats up." Falco put his arm around his friend's shoulders and led him to a bench where they could talk without anyone potentially hearing them.

"Yea. No one loves me. I am being forced to walk this world alone." Fax said as two tears trickled down either side of his face.

"Listen, Fox. You are the smartest, coolest, toughest, and overall, the best person I know" Falco said. "If you think about it, EVERYONE loves the great Fox McCloud! Slip, Peppy, Pepper, Even people who don't fully know you adore you! Most of all, I love you. You are like my brother to me. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise." Falco poked Fox's belly again to make him laugh again. Sure enough, it did.

Once Fox got up, a smile emerged on his face. To Falco, It was like having the sun come up after weeks of ongoing darkness and storms. "Thanks, Falco." Fox said.

"Just remember: The entire Starfox team loves you. Even..." Falco was afraid to say Krystal's name and possibly push his best friend back into the dark abyss of depression if he potentially just got out of it. Then something unexpected happened. Something neither Fox or Falco had experienced in a long long time. Fox hugged Falco.

Falco didn't want to ruin it, so he embraced it. "Go wash up and get to bed. You look like you need some sleep." Falco said

"You look like you need some sleep too." Fox replied

"Yeah. Lemme write it down on my grocery list." Falco said in a sarcastic tone, which made Fox laugh.

"Well, goodnight, Falco."

"Night, Fox"

As Falco lay in bed, blushing like hell under his feathers, wondered if Fox will be ok after the events that just happened. Hopefully. We can only hope, Falco thought...
