Chapter I: The Plan
"Look kid. Are you gonna talk to me and tell me why you come here all pouty and don't order anything?"
The famous Fox McCloud of the Lylat System raised his head, Looked the Bartender straight in the eye and said "Don't call me kid. Im 30." Fox buried his head in his folded arms as he heard the pub doors open
"Ayy. There's my little bud." An unfamiliar voice said in a surprisingly non-sarcastic tone
"Falco?" Fox said to look up and see his best friend, the legendary Falco Lombardi looming over him. As the name was said, people in the pub turned their heads to see the heroes that had saved the Lylat System from great danger various times.
"Fox, Are you ok?" A young girl asked Fox as she walked by.
"He's fine." Falco said since he knew Fox didn't want to talk to fans at this point in his career Falco turned his head to Fox as the little girl walked away with a look of distress on her face. "I heard you weren't doin' so hot, Kid. Wanna tell me your problems?" Falco said in a calming voice. This was one of the only times Fox heard Falco speak in a non-sarcastic tone.
"It's just... Im not over Krystal yet." Fox spoke in a hushed tone.
"Its ok. You have every right to be sad or mad or however the hell you feel. I would be pretty sad myself if the love of my life just walked out on me like I was nothing." As Falco said that, he immediately regretted it because as if on cue, Fox looked straight at Falco and his lips trembled. His eyes started to water as he lowered his head back into his arms.
Falco ordered Fox some nachos (His favorite) And a Strawberry smoothie (Also his favorite) to try and cheer his old buddy up. Fox pushed them away, clearly not in the mood. Falco shrugged and ate a few Nachos but saved the smoothie in case Fox had a change of heart.
"You wanna go home and do something fun? Maybe train with Slippy? You always love piloting the training simulation Arwing." He said putting his arm around Fox's shoulders.
Fox raised his head "No thanks. I'll just stay here and go home later." He said and lowered his head.
"Well just remember. Im your friend. And seeing you haunted and plagued by this... well it stings me too." Falco said, clasping his hand on Fox's back. Falco got up to leave. Before he did, he wrote a note to the Bartender.
"Keep an eye on my friend here, would ya?"
...
"Damn." Peppy said. "Fox is taking this real hard on himself."
"He sounds really broke." Slippy shouted abnormally loud Falco put his finger up to his beak in a shh formation to remind the team that Fox was right down the hall. Slippy gave the gesture back as a reply.
"Well, What are we gonna do, Peppy?" Slippy said
"ME?!?" Peppy replied. "Ask Falco! He is his best friend! I don't know how to cheer him up!"
Falco pondered for a few minutes in a stereotypical thinking pose: His hand on his chin rubbing. Also stereotypical, He got an idea and snapped his fingers. Falco had an idea that would take days, even weeks to prepare. But it would be worth it to see a smile return to his friend's face.
