Chapter No. 42 Recompense
Chapter No. 42 Recompense
Power is imaginary.
We arrived back in Earth orbit and Molly immediately began a thorough examination of the Hawaiian human colony. "The structures are still intact and I see people walking about," she said. "I also see some children." She turned to smile at me. "It appears that they were busy while we were gone."
"Maybe we should go down and see if they need assistance," I said.
She nodded. "That sounds like a plan."
We took two shuttles down, filled with more habitats, tools and supplies. When we landed near their little village, the colonists came out to greet us. They were wearing short skirts made of leaves from broadleaved plants. The women also had bras made from smaller leaves.
Molly and I, along with Alice and Ellen, came out of the shuttle and went over to them.
"Greetings! I said, holding up my right hand. "I pray that you are well."
One of the men stepped forward. "Long time, no see," he said with a slight grin on his bearded face.
I smiled. "Yeah, we were busy with a mission to Triangulum." I noted the confusion in his eyes. "That's a nearby galaxy. In any event, we have more stuff for you."
The androids began carrying things out of the shuttle, and the men stepped forward to help.
Molly went with the women and I stayed with the men to help erect new huts.
"Have you seen any other visitors since we were gone?" I asked the men.
"No," the one who greeted me said. He was obviously the leader.
"Good," I said. "That means that our alien friends honored our deal."
He didn't understand my meaning, but it didn't matter.
After helping set up four new huts and distribute tools, utensils and other things of value, we said our goodbyes and departed.
On the way up to the ship, Molly filled me in on the status of the women and children. "Surprisingly, the children are all healthy and learning well."
"That's great," I replied. "That means that they are doing well and will survive."
"I wonder if we'll get more breeding stock from the reptilians," she said.
"I wouldn't bank on it. We should go there and see what they're up to."
As soon as we got back on the command deck, I told Judy to take us the Galactic Coalition Headquarters planet.
We arrived in orbit and Molly began a scan.
"Everything looks intact," she said.
"I have a video feed request, Jason," Judy said.
"Put it on."
"Welcome back," the reptilian said.
"Thanks," I replied. "We were successful."
"We await your report," he replied just before the video feed ended.
"We'll be going down there," I told Judy.
She nodded.
As before, Alice, Molly and I went down in a shuttle to the previously designated location and then were lowered down to the interior of the cavern on a tractor beam generated pad. After walking to the actual headquarters structure, we found the main chamber filled with several aliens at workstations. I noted that they had added a couple of new species to the coalition. Both appeared to be hominid-like with two hands and feet and ape-like faces.
Fist, the reptilian we had been dealing with before, along with another of his kind, came over to us. Fist had to have aged a decade since we were gone, but I couldn't detect any signs of it. Although, I had no idea how aliens age.
"We observe that you now have three vessels," Fist said.
"Yes,' I replied. "We assimilated two more android collections like Alice here." I gestured to her. "We now have a fleet that will make us more capable of completing missions."
"What of the robotic species?" he asked.
"One of those android collections was the robotic species. They are no longer a threat to anyone. We have assimilated them."
"What assurance do we have that your intentions are benign? He asked.
"We do not wish to conquer or dominate anyone. We only want to insure that this galaxy is peaceful and that we can repopulate Earth. That is our only intention."
"What about the breeding stock you promised us?" Molly asked him.
"We only have twelve females at our disposal. They are of breeding condition. You may have them."
"We'll take them," I said.
Fist turned to the other reptilian, who quickly left the room.
"We're ready for our next mission," I said.
"We are receiving reports of raids from species on the other side of the galaxy. We have been unable to determine where they are coming from."
"Send us what data you have about them and we will investigate."
He nodded.
Soon after that, the other reptilian came back into the room with twelve naked human females. I noted that Fist's forked tongue flashed out of his mouth several times. I assumed this was an indication that seeing food walking past him was stimulating his appetite.
I turned to Molly. "I guess clothing is not a priority."
She gave me a smirk.
I turned back to Fist. "We appreciate your gift. We will go now and begin our mission once we take care of these females."
Fist nodded, and we escorted the females to our shuttle. When we ascended to the surface of the planet, we called for an additional shuttle to help transport the females back to our ship.
As soon as we were back on our vessel, we turned the females over to Alice and Ellen to be cleaned up and given clothing.
Molly and I went to the command deck.
"Take us back to Earth," I told Judy.
We left orbit, accelerated away and went to warp.
Molly turned to me and smiled. "It looks as if we might get a chance to use the embryos."
I smiled back. "Ah, I see that you and I were thinking the same thing."
"The question is; should we add them to the present colony or form a new one."
I leaned back in my chair. "That's a good question. It's difficult to predict what would happen if we add young women to the Hawaiian colony. It could cause domestic difficulties."
Molly chuckled. "No doubt!"
"Maybe it would be better to put them on Maui. That would prevent any contact between the two groups for quite some time."
"Without men, the women would have to fend for themselves," Molly said.
"I'm sure these women could do that," I said. "I just wonder if they'll agree to have embryos inserted into them."
"I'm sure they will once we explain it to them."
I wasn't so sure, but it was our only logical option.
We arrived back at Earth and soon settled into a geosynchronous orbit over The Hawaiian Islands.
Molly gathered the twelve young women into a meeting room. They were attired in simple clothing consisting of shorts, cut-off tee and sandals.
"We have saved you from being butchered for food," She told them. "You will not have to worry about that ever happening to you. We will place you on Maui, a tropical island in the Pacific Ocean of the planet Earth, which is the origin of the human species. There were once ten billion humans on Earth, but a large meteor collision destroyed all life on the planet, except for insects, and some bird and fish species. Plant life is plentiful on the island you will live on, and there are sources of food in the sea and on land. We will provide you with huts that will protect you from the elements and provide you with a source of water. You will be the mothers of a new generation of humans."
"How will we do that?" one of the women asked after raising her hand. "There are no males."
"We have a solution to that problem," Molly said. "We are in possession of many human embryos that have been preserved in a cold container. We can insert them into your reproductive systems so that you will give birth. The process will not hurt or harm you. Will you give us permission to do this?"
The women looked around at one another before the one who posed the question turned to Molly. "We agree to this."
Molly aimed a smile at me, and I returned a smirk.
Actually, the androids completed the embryo transfers to each woman's uterus using a catheter insertion through the cervical canal into the uterine cavity. I assume that the women were sedated, but I really didn't want to know what they were doing.
Evidently, the androids were satisfied that they had done the procedures correctly because they allowed us to take them down to Maui where we had created a little village of huts. We explained to them how to use tools, medical instruments and the medicines we had provided them. They seemed to be happy about what we were doing for them. We were now satisfied that we had another colony of humans on Earth. It would go a long way in our plan to repopulate Earth.
