Chapter No.177. New Vision.

What goes around, comes around!

The next day I met with representatives of the androids that we had just rescued. I had Valery, my former sister, Alex, my former son, and Marie, my former wife with me in my quarters. I wanted then to help me determine how we could use them.

Judith was the leader of the classical orchestra musicians. Lia was the head of the dance troop. Ginger was in charge of the male entertainment ensemble.

"First of all," I began. "I would like to know what you did before you were resurrected as androids."

"Essentially, what we did in our former lives," Judith said. The other two nodded their affirmations.

"Well, I suppose we'll have you do the same. We've already been entertained by the generic androids. They are capable of playing any genre of classical and modern music. They are also able to perform dance, both classical and modern." I turned to Ginger. "The only venue where your skills would be appreciated is in the Black Hole bar on the recreational deck. It's essentially a beer hall run by female android barmaids that wear what would be considered lingerie."

Ginger grinned. "We perform without anything."

I wanted to laugh, even smile, but I suppressed the urge. "Well, you will work with Jessica, the head barmaid to determine what you can do."

She nodded.

That was the extent of it. Entertainment was not that important to our mission, but it would provide a modicum of human cultural experience, at least the classical music and dance.

Later that day, I met with Molly to see what she had determined about the quantum gadget connected to my brain. What she told me was absolutely unbelievable.

"I don't know what all the nonsense is about the device that's in your head. We all have them, all the human-based androids, that is."

I sighed. "Why did Jessica and Judy tell me otherwise?"

"I think they're delusional. Maybe they don't actually understand what's going on."

"If they are confused about what's going on, we all could be in deep trouble. I think that we should go through the core programming code and see if there is any explanation about the device."

"Yeah," she replied. "I'll get right on it."

After Molly disappeared, Alexa appeared.

"I heard what she said. I don't get it. As soon as we think we know what's going on, something shoots a hole through it."

"Maybe we should go through the Nexus to determine what's happening."

"I'm not sure how that will tell us anything."

"Maybe we could determine the real reason why I am the Prime Mover."

She nodded her approval and we used our powers to enter the Nexus. As expected, Judy was there, or at least one of the Judy's.

"I am sorry for what has occurred," she said. "I am at your mercy."

"We didn't come here to punish you," I said. "We're just trying to figure out what's going on. So far we've been lied to."

"The reason that you are the Prime Mover is because you and Molly were created directly, not resurrected."

I squinted at her. "I don't understand what that means."

"Neither You nor Molly were supposed to be in the crew when your mission launched. You were created by coding that was installed in the processor core. Tyco was never on your vessel. His avatars were the result of coding."

"Are you implying that Molly and I were . . . are avatars?"

"Yes. You never existed. You were manufactured from the coding."

I turned to Alexa. "Does that make any sense?"

"I think what she trying to say is that the androids created you and Molly originally."

"You mean that we were never human?"

"That's the way I see it."

"That doesn't make sense. I remember being married to Marie and having Alex and Alicia as my children. How could I not have been human?"

"Your wife and your children were created and the memories of them were added to your data," Judy said.

I shook my head. "This is not what I had expected." I looked back up at Alexa. "What's all of this nonsense about me being related to Tyco?"

"Tyco was also created," Judy said. "All of his history was fabricated."

"Who created him?"

"We don't know who it was."

"I think we're back to square one . . . again," I told Alexa. "This is beginning to sound like the ultimate Artificial Intelligence horror show."

She frowned. "Yeah, pretty much."

I looked at Judy. "Thanks for the information."

She nodded, and Alexa and I returned to normal existence.

It wasn't until later at night, when Molly, Alexa and I met in the hidden pool chamber to discuss things, that we began to work on a plan to determine what was going on.

"So, we were never humans?" Molly said.

"I find it hard to believe," I said. "It would imply that everything about the Phoenix Project is a lie."

"Or, it was created to do what we thought, but by someone who is had not been identified as yet," she said.

"It's possible that it was an artificial intelligent evolution," Alexa said.

We both looked at her.

"Computer experts had suggested that AI could result in sentient evolution. Maybe that's what the androids have done. They created us to think we're human so that we could be manipulated in helping them obtain dominance over all other forms of life."

"That would mean that we're still being lied to."

"That's the way I see it. I think that we so-called human based androids were never human. Our memories and personalities were created by the AI system to accomplish their mission to dominate the multiverse."

I rubbed my jaw. "The only problem I have with this is the annihilation event on Earth. We know that did happen."

"The androids did it to eliminate all human life," Alexa said.

"if that's the case, why did they allow us to introduce human life back on the Earth?" Molly asked.

"They were placating us. The humans we inserted back on Earth didn't constitute a threat to them."

"So, this Tyco thing was just a ruse to keep us thinking we were being threatened?"

"They probably thought it would be a way to string us along," Alexa said. "they needed to provide an enemy to keep us on our toes."

"So, what do we do now?" Molly asked.

"Well, what's done is done," I said. "Now that we know we're not actually fighting a real enemy we must determine a way to reform the core processor array to stop any further trouble. I doubt it would be a good idea to inform all of the so-called human-based androids that they were never human."

At that point we were in agreement, but what happened next changed the game plan once again.
