Chapter No. 166. New Enemy

Chapter No. 166. New Enemy

It's not over yet.

We were all listening to what Molly had to say about the weird aliens of the planet we were orbiting.

"I've detected gamma brain waves from a single source. I believe they're being used to control these aliens."

"That makes sense, but it still doesn't explain why we're not seeing any young people."

"Have you isolated the source of those waves?" Alexa asked her.

"Yes, they're centered under a large structure." She used a digital pointer to show where it was on the main screen display of the planet's major city.

"This could be a Tyco trap," I said.

"It could be, but I'm not getting the vibes I usually get when we're near that bastard."

I rubbed my jaw. "Okay, you and I will go down there and check it out." I turned to Judy. "Remain at Yellow Alert Status."

Alexa and I teleported to the underground chamber where the gamma waves were coming from. We found a device that appeared to be active.

"Yep, that's where they're coming from," Alexa said after scanning it with her hand-held unit.

"Let's assume this is how these people are being controlled. The question is: why?"

Alexa began a scan for life forms. "I'm detecting several life signals from beyond that wall." She pointed to the wall behind the device.

I sensed what was behind that wall, and it disturbed me. "I'm sensing that there are plant creatures in there."

"I didn't detect them."

"I think we have a serious problem here. I think I'll call for Alice and Ben to come down here with BFG's."

"Are you expecting a confrontation?" Alexa asked.

"Yes."

Alice and Ben appeared holding BFG's, the weapon of choice for androids.

"I'm sensing that there are plant creatures behind that wall. We're all going to teleport to the large area beyond that wall. We could be in a confrontation."

They both nodded.

We appeared in a large chamber that was a scene from a horror show. Several plant creatures were busy placing children in what looked like cocoons. The children appeared to in a stupor and were not resisting.

"What the fuck are they doing?" Alexa reacted with a stern frown.

"I think they're storing them for shipment back to their planet," I said. "Evidently, they consider them to be a delicacy."

She frowned. "That's disgusting!"

The plant creatures saw us and raised what appeared to be weapons. Alice and Ben didn't waste time in blasting them. The plasma shots made them burst into flame.

Energy beam shots came from an inner chamber full of cocoons. Alice and Ben returned fire and soon had the situation under control.

Alexa and I used hand-held laser knives to cut open the cocoons so that we could release the children.

"I'm going to go back to the other chamber and deactivate the gamma wave generator."

Alexa nodded.

I wasn't sure how I was going to deactivate it, so I made it vanish. I had no idea what that would do, but I soon found out when I arrived back in the cocoon chamber. The children were crying and fearful. I didn't blame them.

There has to be hundreds of children in cocoons," Alexa said. "Alice and Ben are still clearing out those damn plant creatures."

"Oh, oh!" I exclaimed. "Judy is reporting that two plant creature ships just showed up. I told her to destroy them."

"Good," Alexa said. "Those bastards were taking these children back to their planet as food."

"I'm going to get some of these children out of here. Keep freeing them."

Alexa nodded.

I waved to the children. Using a universal translator, I called for them to come with me. I used my powers to teleport them to the street in front of the large structure that was built over the chambers of horror.

People, who were now of sound mind after being relieved of the brain wave generator's effect, soon saw the children and rushed over to them.

"There are many more that we've freed. They will be up here as soon as possible."

"Who are you?" an older male asked.

"I am Jason, Prime Mover of an android collective. We came here to free you from the plant creatures who have been taking your children as food."

"We had no idea what they were doing," the man said. "We were asleep."

"Actually, you were being controlled by a brain wave device. I've destroyed it."

More children appeared, and the people gathered them up. Both the adults and he children were ecstatic.

"We are grateful for what you have done," the man said.

"After we free all of your children, we will station ships here to protect you from any further attack."

He did something I hadn't expected. He smiled.

Alexa, Alice and Ben appeared.

"We got all of them freed," Alexa said. "No telling how many were taken away and eaten."

I swallowed hard. "Yeah, this whole affair wasn't at all what I expected. Evidently, we found a new enemy."

"Why the hell doesn't Tyco go pester the plant creatures," Alexa said.

I chuckled. "Yes, that would be a good idea. But they're not androids. He probably doesn't care what happens to them."

We teleported back to our ship. Our ships had destroyed the plant creatures' vessels without suffering any damage.

"I'm not happy about killing an intelligent species, but they gave me no choice."

"They're no better than the reptilians." Molly grumbled.

"True, but we came up with a way to deal with the reptilians and their allies."

Everyone was disgusted with this situation, but I considered it as just another day on the job.

Later that evening after the communal meal, we gathered in the hidden chamber to discuss the day's event, but our focus on children made the discussion take a different direction.

"Speaking of children, are we going to allow more childbirths?" Phillis asked.

"Yes, maybe we should consider that issue. I think we need some female children to match up with the males we've produced."

"You sound as if you think that they'll want to date them," Marie said.

"Well, I would assume that. Helen's baby is a male."

"What about the common androids?" Alicia asked. "Are you going to allow them to copulate?"

"They're already mixing it up on a regular basis. I suppose we could do that."

"Why would they be having sex?" Phillis asked. "They don't have human libidos."

"Oh yes they do. The Judy's come here with their boyfriends and do it quite often. I should appoint someone as an Entertainment Office on this Love Boat. They could keep track of who's doing it with whom."

They laughed.

"I would be willing to give birth," Phillis said.

"Who would you choose to make you pregnant?"

She smiled. "I like Jean-Michel."

He smiled. "I would be happy to accommodate you, my lady."

They laughed again.

"I think that Ellen, my assistant wants to give birth." I turned to Molly. "I think she's dating Ned, your male assistant."

She grinned. "He sure as hell knows how to do it."

Everyone laughed.

"Not to change the subject, but how are we going to deal with these plant creatures?" Marie asked.

I leaned back in my chair. "This is not all that different than what we faced with the reptilians. The only problem I have with the plant creatures is that we have no idea how many other alien species they've used this mind control method on. There is the chance that we could reform them and make them eat some unintelligent species like we did with the reptilians."

"I have a suspicion that the reptilians know about the plant creatures and are competing with them for food sources based on lower species," Alexa said.

"So, you think that this case we ran into is just something that's been going on for a long time," I said.

"Yes, and it's obvious that Fist didn't bother to tell us about it."

I rubbed my face. "I think we need a diplomat."

"I know of one, signore," Lucia said. "His name is Tyler Stewart. He's a British Jew that had a lot of experience handling conflicts like this."

"Okay, we'll resurrect him," I said.

We all were anxious to see what he could do to resolve this ugly situation.
