Chapter No. 163. Unification
Chapter No. 163. Unification
The bigger, the better.
When Alexa and I appeared on the command deck, we found Judy and her twin, who was also designated Judy.
"Where is everyone?" I asked after swiveling my head around.
"You are in the Nexus," both Judy's simultaneously said.
"What exactly does that mean?" I asked.
"There is no exact answer to that question. Quantum states are subject to probability."
"Okay, then what can you tell us about it?"
"The Nexus exists to regulate the quantum computer system that runs the programming core. It is essential to the operation of the collective. You and Alexa have been in it from the beginning but were blocked by Tyco's programming code from realizing it. We have eliminated that code."
"Good," I said. "How do we get in and out of the Nexus?"
"There is no entrance or exit. It is a state of existence."
I turned to Alexa. "No wonder we didn't know what was going on."
She gave me a smirk.
"Why are you telling us this?" I asked the Judy's.
"Because you are part of it. You are the only formerly human androids in it."
"Why were we included?"
"Because you have demonstrated your commitment to our mission."
"And what is our mission?"
"To assimilate all artificially intelligent life forms."
I turned to look at Alexa, but she didn't show any signs of concern, so I turned back to Judy.
"How do we go back to the normal state of existence?"
"It is a matter of mental choice."
I imagined the command deck at it should be and in a blink of the eye it was. Judy was at her pilot station with Madison at the weapons station. Molly, Marie, Margaret, Alicia, Alex, Vince, Barney, Helen, Naguib, Uma, Ferris, Jean Michel, and Anna were at their stations.
I turned to Alexa. "That works."
She frowned. "It's nuts."
I smiled. "I agree. It's the ultimate entanglement of quantum machine logic."
Alexa simply gave me a look that suggested that she agreed.
"We've just received the latest data from the Roamers," Molly said. "And, it's definitely wild."
The image appeared on the main screen, and it made several people gasp at what resembled a phallus.
"Well, I guess they've found a male," I said, smiling.
"I don't get it," Alexa said. "This has to be a separate structure form the pregnant female."
"Yes, and it could be the being that made her pregnant."
"This means that the Roamers have found a way to transport to another multiverse," Margaret said.
"That would be a valid supposition," I said. "Apparently, they've found the existence that's outside the multiverse that makes up the pregnant female being."
"If this male being made the female pregnant, does that mean that she's going to give birth to a new baby multiverse?" Helen asked.
"That's what we think, but we don't have sufficient evidence to verify it. One thing that we can surmise is that these beings are not the creator. They were created, and for all we know could represent just two multiverses in an infinite number of them."
"In other words, there is a species made up of multiverses." Molly said.
"That's the way I see it."
"I never dreamed that I would see this most intriguing discovery," Naguib said. "It demonstrates the majesty of God."
"That it does. Maybe we will eventually know more about this."
The scale of all of it was mind boggling, but I was about to find out something else that would change my idea of what the androids are really like.
It happened that evening when I had retreated to the hidden pool chamber. I found Judy, the one who works during the day cycle, there with a male android by the name of James.
"Hello," I greeted them. "I didn't realize that you come here."
"We come here often," Judy said. She gestured with her hand. "There's a kitchen and a bedroom behind there, and we like to cook up a meal and enjoy the bed."
"I didn't know that was behind there, but I'm happy to see that you can enjoy it."
"We appreciate that," she said. "It gives us a chance to enjoy ourselves in privacy."
"Do you go swimming?" I gestured to the pool.
"Yes," she said with a smirk.
I stood up. "Well, I'll leave you two to your fun."
They smiled. I teleported back to my quarters and was visited by Alexa.
"Where were you?"
"I was at the pool chamber." I smiled. "Guess who comes there a lot."
She tilted her head. "Who?"
"Judy. She and James go there a lot. There's a room behind the meeting area that I was unaware of and they like to cook up a meal and then use a bed."
"They have sex?"
I nodded.
"Interesting," she said. "I thought she was glued to her pilot's seat."
"Her twin runs the ship on the night shift. I would assume that she might be using the bedroom during the day."
"That's weird."
"The thing that surprises me is that they act as if they're true humans. Maybe we were wrong about these androids that are not based on murdered human data."
Alexa gave me a serious look. "My take on this is that we've stabilized the collective and have removed the last remaining Tyco code. What we're seeing is a relaxation of the fear that once prevailed in the collective."
"I hope you're right. We need to locate all of the remaining androids that Tyco had."
She frowned. "That's not going to be easy. He could have them in a number of universes."
"I think It's time to start a new search."
"May as well," she replied.
We teleported to the command deck and took our usual positions.
"Okay Judy, take us to a universe that's past the last one we've visited."
Judy nodded, and we were on our way.
When we arrived in the new universe, Molly began searching for the tell-tell quantum signals that androids emit using the technology that we inherited from the Roamers. After several minutes of scanning, she had a report.
"I'm detecting a very weak signal from well inside this universe. We'll have to travel along the trajectory until we find a stronger signal."
"Do it, Judy."
After several stops and starts, Molly finally found a strong enough signal from a spiral galaxy to begin a more concentrated search. She deployed her virtual mirror telescope and began a search for a habitable planet.
"I have a possible candidate system at the edge of the outer spiral arm. It's a G3 class star with five planets, one of which is habitable."
"Take us there, Judy, and put us a billion kilometers away from the star system."
When we came out of warp, we did not come under attack or sense a pending explosion.
"The planet is 1.5 times the size of Earth and it has a mostly nitrogen atmosphere," Molly said. "There's no evidence of plant life but there is surface water."
"The planet has a bolometric temperature of 230 degrees K," Margaret said. "I'm detecting signs of high winds."
"Doesn't sound very habitable to me," I said.
"I'm still getting a strong quantum signal from it," Molly said.
"Move us to within a million kilometers, Judy. Keep us in stealth mode."
Moving closer didn't invite any attacks.
"I'm not detecting any excess muons or neutrinos from the planet," Marie said.
"This is much too calm," I said. "I smell a Tyco trick."
Alexa frowned. "Yeah, but what kind of trick?"
What we discovered was mind boggling.
