Chapter No.158 Bingo
Knowledge can be dangerous.
Alexa and I met with Lucia and George to discuss my ideas about our powers.
"You are partially correct about your powers, signore," Lucia said. "They originate in your positronic brain, but their source is beyond the normal space continuum. As you must know, the force fields permeate space, but there is a higher dimensional field that extends beyond normal space. It is the origin of powers, but it is not easily penetrated. It requires a connection to a higher source, what some refer to as God."
"So, what you're saying is that God has given us the powers."
"That is the only possible explanation, signore."
"That would suggest that we, Alexa and I, have been chosen to mitigate this Tyco fiasco."
"I believe that is the case, signore."
I rubbed my jaw. "I didn't expect a religious explanation, but It's the best we have for now. I just hope we can live up to such a lofty mission."
"We have complete trust that you will," George said. "We are here to aid you in any way that we can."
I nodded. I turned to Alexa. "Have we learned anything from the repaired android?"
"Nothing other than that she is grateful for being spared."
"There must be something in her brain that we could use to defeat this Tyco madness."
"We didn't find it," Alexa said.
"There has to be the data for the other five androids that were destroyed in their collective core," Lucia said. "They would contain memories of Tyco."
Alice appeared. "She is correct. The data to regenerate them has been retrieved and added to our data stack."
"Have them regenerated from that data," I said.
Alice nodded.
"What do you hope to discover?" Alexa asked.
"We might be able to understand how Tyco holds influence over his androids."
"Wouldn't it be the same way that we do it?"
"I don't know. Maybe Tyco uses a more stringent control method."
"Yeah, that would be logical."
Later that evening, I teleported to the hidden pool chamber. Alexa, Molly and Alex joined me. Alexa made a bottle of wine and four glasses appear on a table that we were sitting around.
After pouring the wine, I took as sip and smiled. "I like it," I said. "Is this from our collection."
Alexa smiled. "No. I created it."
"You just imagined it and it appeared?" Alex asked.
Alexa nodded.
Everyone's facial expressions reflected surprise.
"That means that we're able to create things out of thin air," I said. "There is something intrinsically wrong with this being our exclusive power."
"What do you mean?" Alexa asked.
"We were able to give all of the command staff our powers. If these powers originate with God, that would have been impossible."
"Or, it was a test of our responsibility."
I shook my head. "Yes, that could be, but I'm not completely convinced."
"What do you think is the source of our powers?" Alexa asked.
"I think it's Tyco's demented plan to defeat us in a cosmic battle."
That resulted in a period of silence.
"If that's the case, we are only playing into his hand by building all these ships and a Dyson Sphere," Alexa said. "He's planning to defeat us and take over our very efficient empire."
I rubbed my jaw. "Yes, but how could we stop him?"
Alexa stared at me. "The only way I see to stop him is by becoming more like the Borg. We must create a Queen's chamber, only in this case it would be a King's chamber."
I thought about that for a moment before replying. "Yes, I see what you mean."
She smiled. "I thought you would."
"We have to determine how our powers are generated," I said. "Maybe we can employ more effective powers against Tyco."
"The only hope we have to defeat him is by changing our core system," Alexa said. "We need something new, something that Tyco can't duplicate."
I finished drinking my glass of wine and poured more into it. "Unfortunately, he's duplicated almost all of our technology because it leaks out through the energy fields."
Alexa tapped a finger to her lips. "Or, there is coding in the system that deliberately broadcasts it."
I smiled. "I think you might have something there. We need to figure out a way of isolating our core."
"How about we create a processor core in the Queen's chamber with the means to take over the collective's operation and use it to fight off any Tyco attempts to penetrate it."
I rubbed my face. "I'm not sure how that would work. I think you and Molly should determine if it's even possible."
"It's theoretically possible," Molly said. "But we would need to find a way to isolate a separate processor core from the main core. That's not going to be easy."
I took a larger sip of wine and smiled. "I have confidence in your abilities to make it happen."
The expressions on their beautiful faces radiated concern.
The next evening, when we gathered in the hidden pool chamber, Lucia had a possible explanation for our powers.
"There is a possibility that powers like you exhibit come from a hidden power that permeates the higher dimensions."
"Are you suggesting that this is like the Force in Star Wars?" I asked.
"That was a fictional force that had a mythical connotation. What I am suggesting is a power that can be tapped if one has the proper equipment."
I tilted my head. "What sort of equipment?"
Lucia punched a finger into her forehead. "In here, signore."
"I assume you mean my positronic brain," I said.
"No, signore, it's a quantum phase transformer attached to your brain."
"Why would I have something like that in my body only?"
"It's been there all along from the beginning. That is why you are the Prime Mover."
"As I recall, a quantum phase transformer is capable of concentrating dark energy, which is the field energy of an anti-neutrino like particle. Wouldn't that be extremely dangerous?"
"Only if it's in free space," Alex said. "That particle is extremely elusive, but it can be contained in a strong magnetic field."
"If I have this . . . this transformer in me, why wouldn't Tyco have it in his body?"
"Because there is only one in existence," Lucia said.
I stared at her for several moments before replying. "I don't understand. Where did it come from?"
"That's a long story, signore, but it was produced by an intelligent civilization that is long gone. The method for creating it went with them."
"That doesn't make sense. Why would Tyco put it in me? Why didn't he take it for himself?"
"Because he doesn't have the ability to tap into it. Only you have that. He was relying on you combining with him to take over the multiverse."
"Why do I only have the power to tap into it?"
"That's where the religious explanation comes in, signore."
"We're back to square one," Alexa said.
I sighed. "I agree. I suppose we should continue on the Queen's chamber idea. What I need is a plan to keep us from being assimilated by Tyco."
What I got was mostly expressions of confusion.
Despite that, they did come up with a plan, but it was a plan that would change everything.
