Chapter No.109 Deity

Chapter No.109 Deity

God is easy to please, but hard to satisfy. C. S. Lewis.

The android in engineering was about to tell us something that would be my next test.

"There are a thousand of us, including 21 of us that were formerly human."

Alexa and I exchanged surprised looks before I turned to her. "Is there a list of the human androids?"

"Yes," she said while pointing to the engineering station.

I gestured and Alexa sat down at the station and began a search. After a few minutes, she had a report.

"These are former Space Command personnel, mostly technical people."

"I'm bothered by the fact that there are 21, instead of just 20. I have a hunch that one of those is a Tyco avatar."

"Are there any males?"

"Yes, six are males."

I rubbed my chin. "I don't think the avatar is a male. That would be too obvious." I turned to the android engineers. "How did you arrive here?"

"We were transported here in a vessel."

"Who was in charge of the vessel?"

"She is a goddess,"

"What Is her designation?"

"She is Invictus."

"What is her present location?"

She is in the command center."

I visualized that and I appeared in a round chamber where several androids were busy monitoring space in the solar system that we were presently in. It didn't take me that long to locate Invictus. She was a spectacular blond.

She stood up and faced me. "Well Jason, we meet again."

"I can't believe that you would stoop this low. You were ready to destroy all of these androids just to get me."

"Yes, and now that I have you, I will finish this game."

I smiled. "I don't think so. I have the power to simply make you disappear."

"I will explode before you do," she said.

I made her vanish before that happened. I smiled at the other androids that were there before I teleported to the Explorer-2's command deck.

"You may start the assimilation of the androids on the planet. There are a thousand of them. Twenty are former humans."

"They contain explosive units, Jason."

My eyebrows shot up. "Damn it! I will take care of that."

I teleported back to the planet where Alexa was.

"I took care of Tyco's avatar, but we have another problem."

"What?" she asked, squinting at me.

"They all contain those chemical explosive units like the ones that were in us."

"What are you going to do?"

"I will make them vanish . . . I hope."

After several minutes of intense mental concentration, I cleared all of the androids of explosives.

"Okay, they're safe enough to transport to our ship."

"What happens to all of these things you make vanish?" Alexa asked.

"I think they just cease to exist, whatever that means."

"Where are we going to put all of these new people?"

"We have plenty of space. The human androids will get quarters and the others will be added to the staff. I was considering creating a large space for science and technology, now I have an incentive to do that."

"What about your communal supper? You don't have enough space for that."

"I think the androids can find a solution to that."

She gave me a smirk.

I teleported all of the new recruits up to our vessel. It saved the time of sending down shuttles. The androids went to work preparing quarters and enlarging my dining and living areas. I had allowed for this in the original design.

The best news was that we had six new males. They were Frank, Evan, Louis, Marty, Conner, and Dale. Alex, Vince, Barney, and I welcomed them and showed them the Black Hole bar where we males go to be together and commiserate about being in the minority in a virtually all female collective.

"I never imagined that I would be able to drink beer again," Marty said. "How did you manage that?"

"The agricultural deck has some crops, including barley and hops. The androids use it to brew beer. They also make wine. Some of the stuff we eat is bio-synthesized, but I can assure you that this beer is not."

"I understand that you are the prime mover of this collective," Louis said. "I'm surprised that you would be here with us like this."

"Jason doesn't like being the top dog," Alex told him. "He prefers to be with us."

"Whose idea was it to have these barmaids dressed so provocatively?" Evan asked.

"That's strictly the androids' idea," I said. "I don't interfere with their customs and practices as long as it doesn't compromise operations."

"Do you guys have sex with the ladies?" Frank asked, grinning.

"We males are called upon to service the human female androids ever since we've been able to make them pregnant," I said. "However, that aspect can be turned off. Sometimes the ladies, as you call them, just want to have fun."

"Let me get this straight," Marty said. "You get to drink beer and bang the females. Is this Heaven?"

"Actually, it's more like Hell, but there are some heavenly aspects to it."

They laughed.

"What about the true android females?" Evan asked. "Do they require servicing?"

"Actually, the true male androids take care of them. Keep in mind that all androids, both human and non-human, were designed for sexual gratification. It's only recently that our libidos were activated. The original Phoenix Project plan was to build an army of androids by sexual means. We have over 1.5 million androids in our collective. That should be enough to complete our mission, which is to assimilate all androids like us and insure peace in the universe. However, I don't see any reason why we shouldn't beget new androids, but there is no reason to get carried away with that idea."

I don't know if they were amiable to that idea, but I didn't hear any objections. My only problem is that Tyco is still out there trying to destroy me. Talk about spoiling my day!
