Chapter Nine

That's The Plan?

And, in this chapter, I'm changing my writing style. Let me know how did you guys find it.

                                                                                                                                                                 17th January.

There is something phenomenal about the night sky, don't you think? The inky black sky dotted with thousands of glittering stars. The moon beaming at you so gleefully, and as long as you stare at it, you forget your worries.

However, today, the moon is playing hide and seek because the wind is Peter Pan, naughty and mischievous. It planks the clouds with it, as it rustles in the sky. They (the clouds) protest but there is nothing they can do for being light weighed. So, they go with wind, veiling the moon, when it crosses their path.

That is what irks Aayan Aslam, sitting on the couch staring at the moon through the window. He is a free-spirited person, suppose to be soaring around the world like the wind. Instead, life hits him hard. He closes his eyes, frying his best to ignore the sniffing of the woman three feet far from him.

He does nothing to get up, to console her. The monster in him is burning alive, willing to destruct everything that crosses his plan. If he lets the monster unleash just right now, it will force him to snatch the mobile out of her hand. And, the pathetic part is that, he doesn't want to see her crest fallen expressions.

There is the silence. No weeping. No talking. Just silence. Aayan leans back in the couch, waiting for her to come to him.

"Aayan." Maahirah speaks slowly. Her voice hoarse and nose clogged. She is frightened of what he'll be like when she blasts the news.

He doesn't turn around. "Yeah."

"I...I talked with Dad."

"Good."

She pauses. Aayan can hear her mind arguing with her heart. "And, and, he wants you to call him as soon as possible."

"Are you shitting me?" His eyes bulge out at this, and turns around, throwing daggers at her. "Why the fuck  will you drag me into this?"

She gasps and holds on to the doorframe. "He...he....wanted to ask something."

He gets up and walks up to her. Maahirah pushes herself into the wall, to get away from him, without show casing how scared she really is.

He is pacing across from her. "You couldn't make an excuse. You had to be the daddy's little girl. God," He runs his hand through his hair. "When will you learn?"

"I'm sorry, but I don't exactly see the point of your anger here." She lets out her frustration.

Aayan rushes to her, and slams his hand on the right side of her head. She jumps and turn away from her. His heart lurches inside him as he sees fear in her turquoise eyes.

"Your mother is dying." He spits it out.

Her eyes snap to look at him. "No. No. She isn't. She is fine."

Aayan leans in and breathes on her face. "Aseer."

She stares at him, expressionless. Almost like a statue. Eyes-wide. Pale. Lips white.

"Maahirah." He calls out unsure.

"Dying?" She whispers. "How?"

"You've to breathe." He puts his hands on her shoulders. "I do not know how to handle panic attacks."

She shakes his hands away from her. "Tell me. God damn it. Aayan. You are bipolar. One second you are thrashing your desperation every where and the next you're being nice. Get away from me."

Aayan steps back, surprised at the sudden change of events. She isn't crying (that's new.) She is fuming.  And, this new found rage in her provokes him to hide back a smirk.

"Pancreatic Cancer. Advanced stage and it has spread to her lymph nodes."

"Oh, ya Allah." She slides on the floor, with her back pressed to the wall. The waterworks beginning to sprout out. "That is why you kidnapped me? So you could force me to Elton?" She voices out, shakily.

"Yes and no."

"No? What is that supposed to mean?" Water-filled eyes look up at him.

Aayan trudges towards her, and sits three inches away from her. You notice how the number three is common between them?

"Maahirah, no because. Because, your mum misses you like hell, and all you have to do is pretend that you came for her, and not the other way around."

"...Pretend?"

"Yes, pretend that you came for her when you heard about her cancer. You get me?"

She gapes at him like a squirrel; big eyes, filled with innocence. "You mean lie?"

At this, Aayan wishes that he could punch someone, anyone, anything. How can she make him feel so pathetic within just few seconds? Lie. It isn't lying. It is caring. Right? That is what he thinks it is.

"No, it's not lying. Tell me, don't you wanna see see her?" He diverts her mind.

Maahirah closes her eyes; she needs to think fast, and sometimes what is right isn't actually right and what is wrong isn't actually wrong. And, maybe Aayan didn't have any bad motive, he just has a weird way of showing how much he cares. Twisted, yes, but sweet.

"I wanna see her."

Aayan smiles. "Of course. This is what we are gonna do. Firstly, we are gonna tomrrow and celebrate Vaneeza's birthday. It is tomorrow, isn't it?" When she nods, he continues. "Then, we will hit the road after midnight tomorrow. Comprehend?"

"That's the plan?" She asks.

"Obviously." He smiles at her, and wonders maybe this whole kidnapping thing wasn't a bad idea. She, at least, doesn't hate him that much.

Don't shoot me just now. :P A short chapter i know. I'm sorry. But i have final exams coming up, so they are like major exam, marking the completion of my first year.

Pray for me, whenever you pray.

And, also, I'm starting this book 'Just Breathe' in which i will update frequent happenings of my life, where you can ask me questions (anonymously if you wanna), where i can tell you why i'm not updating and what is happening in my land.  During my exams, i will post and let you know all. So, please, give it a try. I'll post the link in the comment section.

Personally, I like tis writing style. What about you? See the change in Aayan? My baby never had a bad motive. Let's see what happens next. Just a fair warning, something might terribly go wrong in Vaneeza's birthday celebration. Any guesses? ;)

I'll be seeing you guys on 'Just Breathe.' but you will hear Maahirah-Aayan after mid-December. (that is when my exams end, btw.)
