Chapter 1: Spawn Point, Earth/Asia/Japan/Tokyo/Apartment Building/Top Floor

Therious woke up in cold sweat in an unfamiliar room, tangled in the bedsheets. His clothes were the same, though weren't teared anymore and smelled new and like flowers. The room was very bland and white. He spied outside a nearby, open window and pokes his head outside. Busy cars and people speed around on the ground below. Looking at the distance where he is...he's on the top floor of some apartment building in the city of...let's see, kanji everywhere, neon lights, anime posted on digital boards...this was probably Tokyo, Japan.

Therious: "Yes...I have definitely lost it."

???: "You have complete sanity, Therious."

Therious: "Ah...! What...?! Oh, aren't you...?"

The black haired, crimson-eyed, pale-faced girl who stepped in front of the golden haired girl was leaning against the doorway of this room. She raised her eyebrows slightly at his person.

Ayla: "Ayla. Terrorist Ayla. And you are her successor."

Therious: "Successor? Who's successor?"

Ayla: "That is something only you will have go on to find out. Really, if you are...fit to live, perhaps."

Therious: "...What is that supposed to mean?"

???: "Is he awake? He's awake. Come along."

A slightly (VERY slightly, you can only feel the inferior to Ayla by aura) younger girl with a dark violet shade of hair, slung over her left shoulder in a neat ponytail. Holding the ponytail in place was a thick, ivory, black rimmed ring with a gold symbol in a black circle on it. Therious felt like that ring was there for more reasons than to hold her hair in place. Ayla dragged Therious out of his bed by his arm, yanking him out of bed. Her nails dug into his skin, despite his long sleeves. They arrive in a small (VERY small) parlor with a couch, low table, and a blank, black, thin, box on another low table. It had seemed to be connected to the wall.

Therious: "What the...? Where are we...?"

Ayla: "We're on Earth, commoner."

Ayla's harsh tone, scowling face, and pulsing eyes makes it pretty obvious that she doesn't like Earth, and probably the humanity inhabiting it. Therious cowered back in fear. Ayla was more terrifying than what he was ready for.

(ponytail): "Is Luciel here?"

(white-haired): "She's comin' back. Though, can't imagine how she's standing that filth."

The ponytailed girl and another girl, though with white hair in a pixie cut and obvious roughness, was talking to one another right away. Therious can imagine that the 'filth' she was talking about was the humanity outside, since the balcony window to the mini parlor, was wide open, curtains flapping in the wind.

(blonde): "What is the name of this commoner?"

Therious: "M-me...?"

Ayla: "Who else here is a worthless failure here?"

Therious: "...!"

Therious can tell that Ayla didn't like him and said that he was worthless and to fail. Though, him personally, he didn't blame her. He DID fail at everything he tried, and took forever to get it near right. Therefore, he was worthless at most things, and generally wanted to do anything from trying and making a fool of himself. He stared down at his feet and muttered...

Therious: "...Therious."

(all): "......"

Ayla: "That name does not suit you at all."

(ponytail): "Luciel is coming."

Ayla: "Get ready, commoner."

*whoosh*

The balcony was pelted with a deafening thump, and there, once-crouched, was the golden-brown hair girl. Her expressionless face and empty, yet incredibly vibrant, crystal brown eyes, scared Therious. He had realized that she was carrying a paper bag, filled with something.

Ayla: "Well?"

Luciel: "Humanity has truly evolved."

She tosses the bag to the floor letting the contents spill out. Human clothes, shoes, papers, articles, and other things. The girls immediately go for certain articles of clothing and start stripping. Therious whipped around and walked over to press his forehead against a wall. None of the girls protested except for Ayla's little, 'what the hades is he doing?' comment.

*tap*

Therious: "Hm...? You guys done changing...?"

(white-haired): "You should've probably changed along with us. Here. Wear this."

The white-haired girl threw him a white t-shirt and jeans. Then he dodged a couple white sneakers and slip them on. They fitted perfectly. Like Luciel knew his size. There was an angry knock on the front door that made Therious nearly jump three feet. He slowly approached the door and peeked out.

(angry woman): "Well?! Aren't you the new neighbor?! Where is your payment-?! Oh...hello...!"

The woman's angry yelling subsided to flirty cooing and twirling of hair. Therious stared back at her in confusion. Then quickly pasted his face with a small smile.

Therious: "Erm...hello, is there a problem?"

Landlady: "Well, I am the landlady of these grounds. And...it WON'T be a problem...as long as you...pay your rent!"

She was starting to get too close for Therious' comfort. So Therious started backing in, face flushed in embarrassment.

Therious: "I...I'm pretty sure I can get this...pay this rent by..."

Landlady: "I'll let you go for the end of this week! How does that sound? That gives you a good 3 days!"

She practically skips away, smiling , glowing and flushing. Therious watches her flounce off down the hallway, and down the stairwell at the end. He closes the door and walks back to the girls in silence...

Ayla: "That went well."

Therious: "Argh! What am I gonna DO?! I don't even know what a rent IS!"

Luciel: "All in good time, father."

Therious: "No, she said in three days, I don't even-! Wait...father? Me? Did you just call me...?"

Ayla: "What other male creature would she be talking to, you deaf being?"

Luciel: "That is right. I am talking to you. You are now our father in the sense that we were given to you."

Therious: "....WHAT?!?!?!"

Thoughts ran through his head like a human being chased by wildfire. They were mostly consisted of like 10% 'Oh, now I know that these girls are the daughters of that Derek man.' and the other 90% 'OH NO, NOW I HAVE SIX DAUGHTERS WHO I BARELY KNOW ABOUT AND NOW HAVE TO PROBABLY TAKE CARE OF WHICH I DON'T KNOW THAT EITHER!!!'.

Ayla: "Oh, quit your screaming, I don't really expect you to know how to take care of anything, really."

Therious: "How...? How did...?"

Ayla: "Your mind is an open book. I'm near you too, so that's even more effective. I can hear your negative emotions. They seem so clear that they spell out legible thoughts."

Therious: "So...you read my mind...?"

Ayla: "Tsk, you really are a worthless failure. You didn't pay attention to a single thing a said, didn't you."

That didn't sound like a question.

Therious: "B-but...you said..."

Ayla: "What I SAID...was that I can hear your NEGATIVE EMOTIONS. And SINCE your emotions are so flippin' OBVIOUS, your THOUGHTS were practically SPELLED OUT THERE!"

Luciel: "Ayla, calm yourself."

Ayla: "...! Tch..."

Therious was still shaking in the place where he stood. Ayla's eyes were so bright, you couldn't see the pupil or the sclera anymore, the light filling all of her eye. But after a word from Luciel, Ayla went back to her scary, expressionless self like she never snapped in the first place. Therious kept wary of her...not going anywhere near her.

Luciel: "As I said...we need living. And this must be the place to start."

(blonde): "Karanos."

The blonde, light brown eyed girl, easily younger than Luciel and Ayla, though seemingly older than the purple haired, ponytail girl, stares expressionlessly at a if-human-probably-18-to-16-year-old-looking girl with milk-chocolate colored hair with veins of red in it. Though the brown clearly overpowers the red. She looks like she's the youngest of all of them. Her pale brown eyes pulse like a heartbeat and stops... She turns to Luciel.

Karanos: "Humanity was not disturbed. The balance was shifter slightly..."

The purple haired girl flinches. But returns to normal in a second. Karanos drones on about what has happened, traditions, trends, food, currency, then goes to a recent question Therious had asked.

Karanos: "...And the answer to your earlier question..."

Therious: "Huh...?"

Karanos: "A rent, as a noun in this case, is the payment of money, in this currency yen in bills and coins, to live in a certain place for as long as you can keep paying."

Therious: "So...the only way to stay here is to keep paying the landlady."

Karanos: "Yes."

Therious: "How do I get...yen?"

Karanos: "By working for it."

Therious: "Working....?"

If this was a different situation, Therious would have totally been up for a job. But knowing back of how much of a failure he was in assisting and sorts...he started to feel what he though Ayla meant by him being a 'worthless failure'.

Ayla: "...Your emotions. Keep them in check, if you don't mind."

Therious: "O-oh...sorry...um, but you DO know that I-"

Ayla: "This is Earth, commoner. You practically fit in here. You'll find a job that'll even take a failure like you."

Even though her voice and words were harsh, Therious realized that she was right. He DID, in a way, fit in here. Now all he had to do was find a job. He thought of first asking the landlady if he could find her. He announces his plan to the girls.

Luciel: "Do what you must."

(blonde): "Yes..."

Karanos: "Try your best not to fail."

(white-haired): "Hmph...that'll be a good challenge for ya."

(ponytail): "Watch out, commoner."

Therious: "Thanks for all the good-hearted encouragement..."

Ayla: "Tsk..."

Therious: "Ayla...?"

Ayla: "Three days, commoner. Make it count."
