Before I Knew: Irritatingly Beautiful

Scorpio had just returned from completing his stack of paperwork. More specifically he had ran in and submitted them by the skin of his teeth. He doesn’t usually do this. He’s usually always on time to get his work in. Mostly just to rub it into the stupid lion’s face for good measure. But now he was running late? How? He had it done, just there was more work to be done that he missed. He swears that he checked everything, so only one thing came to mind.

Sailor: “...You think Ichthys gave you his work?”

Scorpio: “Didn’t he?”

Sailor: “What if he didn’t?”

Scorpio: “You sayin’ he didn’t?”

Sailor: “Yeah...I did.”

Scorpio: “Wha-? Why?!”

The Punishments member had stood in front of Sailor’s desk, kinda was expecting Sailor’s off-handed praise. But he just had to work his sharp tongue and mutter his thoughts aloud, right when he’s about to leave her office.

Sailor: “Scorpio, my dude, that wasn’t his paperwork. That was yours.”

Scorpio: “But I did all of mine, I swear!”

Sailor: “...What if I said you accepted extra work from the last course because of something?”

Scorpio: “I-wait...yeah, I, uh, did say something like that…”

Sailor/Scorpio: “...”

Sailor: “Why the heck you getting red?”

Scorpio: “A-Am not!”

Sailor: “You freaking liar, what’re you hiding? What’s this thing you asked to do work ahead of time for?”

Scorpio: “Nothing! Stay outta my freakin’ business!”

Sailor: “Ugh, whatever. Hah, I had no time for that, get the heck outta here, I gotta work…”

He shuts up. He glances around the room. Yeah, her office is packed with paperwork, stacked all the way up to the ceiling. There’s so much around, it’s hard to tell if it’s even finished or, even worse, stuff that she still has to do. Sighing annoyed, he turns on heel and starts walking away. Just as he reaches to grab the doorknob, he mutters…

Scorpio: “Don’t work too hard again…”

Sailor: “Hmph, I’m not Kita. She has it harder than me.”

Scorpio: “I dunno, Wishes seems to be a bit slacking lately-”

Sailor: “They’re not slacking, they’re just in a jam. Now, get the heck out.”

So he does. Of course, he’s being as pouty and emo as he’s always been, he storms out with a huff. As he’s speed-walking down the corridor to his room he slams right into somebody which makes papers scatter all over the place.

Scorpio: “Ack! Hey, watch where-”

Zyglavis: “Scorpio! What is the meaning of this outburst? And why were you running in the halls?”

He just figured out that he screwed up by just ramming into his prime minister, Zyglavis. After picking up and sorting his papers, Zyglavis gave Scorpio an annoyed and exasperated look.

Zyglavis: “Do not tell me you got in a fight with one of the Wishes members.”

Scorpio: “No, I didn’t. Quit sounding like Sailor, because you’re not.”

Zyglavis: “Calm down, it will do you nothing to keep angry all the time.”

Scorpio: “Whatever! Leave me alone!”

Zyglavis: “...What happened?”

Scorpio: “What?”

Zyglavis: “If you didn’t fight with a Wishes member...morerather Queen Wishes herself, then why are you so irritated?”

Scorpio: “...Can’t you call them just plain Kitari and Sailor?”

Zyglavis: “I figured that if I address them as such, they’ll be more attentive to their position.”

Scorpio: “You mean turn them into those snobby nobles, I don’t think so.”

Zyglavis: “Then why are you so upset?”

Scorpio: “...I’m not.”

Zyglavis: “I don’t like it when you lie to me. Sailor would say that much.”

Scorpio: “You…”

Zyglavis: “Hah, she seems to get along with all of you on a more informal and relaxed relationship. I suppose I should be a little less stressing.”

Scorpio: “...You’d do that?”

Zyglavis: “Why such surprise? Don’t you become a bit more cooperative when it comes to discussing with her? Even paperwork is starting to look more efficient.”

Scorpio: “I thought I should make this easier for me.”

Zyglavis: “Even if she’s a human?”

Scorpio: “You know fair and well that she’s not human.”

Zyglavis: “Your memories escape you. She, no matter what water power or uniform, is still human. Just an abnormal one.”

Scorpio: “...oh, yeah.”

Zyglavis: “Hah, I can’t believe you forgot about that. You all must be very close to her to accept her in such a way.”

Scorpio: “She’s better than most goddesses, if you remember.”

Zyglavis: “I can’t help but agree and anything else would be false.”

Scorpio: “...How…? She’s a human...how did I forget that?”

Zyglavis: “Forget? Aren’t you constantly reminded every time she knocks out on her desk?”

Scorpio: “...!”

Zyglavis: “Scorpio-”

Scorpio: “No, don’t. Sailor is still strong. The sparkly b-tard has a thing for them, he’ll keep them alive. He’s the only one who can tamper with the human life and death thing.”

Zyglavis: “You have a point. I, for one, would be quite sad for them to leave us like that.”

Scorpio: “Like THAT? Wouldn’t you not want them to leave like...EVER?”

Zyglavis: “Well, if they left alive, you know we’ll personally drag them back here, me included.”

Scorpio: “...I can’t imagine you doing that.”

Zyglavis: “...Can you?”

Scorpio: “...no, I can’t. You never were one to care this much about a woman.”

Zyglavis: “I could say the same about you.”

The older minister chuckles despite himself. Scorpio glances down at the floor, crossing his arms. Yeah, now that he stops and thinks about it, he is pretty accepting to Sailor. What is she? A human? Yeah. But if he wanted to be more specific? Shy, try-hard, nervous sometimes, stubborn...pretty.

Scorpio: “...O-Okay, what!?”

Zyglavis: “Scorpio? Are you alright? Your face is-wait…”

Scorpio: “G-Get that smirk off your face!!”

Zyglavis: “My, my, I should have seen this coming.”

Scorpio: “Shut up!”

“Hey, what’s going on here?”

Scorpio: “A-Ack!”

Zyglavis: “Ah, Sailor, what a pleasure seeing out finally out of your office.”

Sailor: “Haha, very funny. Scorpio? I was looking for you.”

Scorpio: “Y-You were?”

Sailor: “Yeah, I came around to say that your paperwork had been taken care of-”

Scorpio: “Don’t tell me that you did them!”

Sailor: “...What? You looked like you needed it.”

Zyglavis: “Hah, what are we going to do with you?”

Sailor: “Nothing, I hope. Hm? Scorpio? You okay? You’re kinda red around the-”

Scorpio: “S-Shut up! Leave me alone!”

*flees*

Sailor/Zyglavis: “...”

Sailor: “What’s up with him?”

Zyglavis: “Ah, just some internal confusion is all.”

Sailor: “...What the heck?”

*****

Scorpio: “Urgh...hah…”

The flustered minister ran to his room and launched into his bed, burying his face in his pillow. After squirming around he let out a high-pitched scream, rolling around until he fell off the bed. Straight after that, like he never fell to begin with, he rolled under his bed, his face still practically glued to his pillow. As he was doing...whatever you wanna call it, he heard a knock on the door that he knew so well. He stopped dead silent.

Sailor: “Scorpio, bro? You okay in there?!”

*knock, knock, knock*

Scorpio: “D-Don’t come in here! Leave me alone!”

Sailor: “Dude, did you lock your door? C’mon, calm down! Let me in, please! I’m real worried right now!”

Scorpio’s face flushed up bright red. He desperately dug his face into his pillow, curling up into a tight ball. When Sailor didn’t hear a response, she looked down at the keyhole of the door and tilted her head to the side. Now, neither Kitari or Sailor were exactly Celestials, so they couldn’t snap their fingers to make things open or appear. So she had to do it a more traditional style.

Kicking the door down.

*BAM*

Scorpio: “...?!”

Sailor: “Wow, that door wasn’t exactly as resistant as I thought it was…”

He bit his lip into his pillow. He didn’t want her to find him. He didn’t want her to find him curled up underneath his bed. And he definitely didn’t want her to find him curled underneath his bed, blushing bright red, with, oh, look, tears pricking at his eyes. Was he that embarrassed? Yes. Did he want to confront her? Nah.

Sailor: “Scorpio? Scorpio, dude, where are you? Did you teleport or something?”

Scorpio: “...”

Sailor: “Hm, there aren’t a lot of places to hide...not here…”

He could hear muted footsteps of Sailor’s boots on the carpet and watched her move from area to area. Finally she confronted his bed. She raised an eyebrow.

Sailor: “Dude...don’t tell me…”

And like she came out of nowhere, her heads swung down in a split second making Scorpio scream. This makes Sailor fall down to the floor, losing her footing. Slowly, she lays on her stomach, staring at Scorpio.

Sailor: “How long are you gonna stay down there?”

Scorpio: “...”

Sailor: “Can you tell me what happened…?”

Scorpio: “.....”

Sailor: “...Zyglavis said-”

Scorpio: “...don’t believe a freaking word that guy says.”

Sailor: “All he said was-”

Scorpio: “Nothing. He said nothing.”

Sailor: “...Well...if you say so...I’ll believe you.”

Scorpio: “...”

Sailor: “Please, talk to me, I wanna help.”

Scorpio: “...it’s...embarrassing…”

Sailor: “...Embarrassing? Did you get blackmailed?”

Scorpio: “N-No...I might be…”

Sailor: “By who? Leon?”

Scorpio: “...Zig…”

Sailor: “Dude, that guy isn’t gonna blackmail you in a million years. Not if I have anything to say about it. If not he’s too close to you to do something like that.”

Scorpio: “...*mumble*...”

Sailor: “Scorpio…?”

Scorpio: “...he’ll probably do it in a million years. And you won’t be alive to stop it...”

Sailor: “Alive-? Is THAT what this is all about? My morality?!”

Scorpio: “...”

Sailor: “Scorpio, dude, quit worrying about that! Look at me! I’m alive! I’m fine! Don’t let something like that scare you.”

Scorpio: “...”

Sailor: “...Is this also about my work efforts.”

Scorpio: “...”

Sailor: “Hah, I promise to take better care of myself, geez.”

Scorpio: “...Will you really?”

Sailor: “When I can.”

Scorpio: “Hah...that’s a relief…”

Sailor: “Hm…”

Scorpio: “...what.”

Sailor: “Smile like that more.”

Scorpio: “W-What the heck are you talking about?”

Sailor: “Eh, whatever. Anyways, take the day off for now, but you better work harder tomorrow. I’m not doing your work.”

Scorpio: “...thanks.”

Sailor: “Hm? What?”

Sailor was at his door, ready to leave when she turns her head just as Scorpio crawls out from underneath his bed.

Scorpio: “...thanks. I said ‘thanks’.”

Sailor: “...”

Sailor: “Haha, you’re welcome~!”
