CHAPTER 11- BACK TO SQUARE ONE

Umaira entered her room and kicked out her heels in frustration. Five years of running away, five years of supposedly "having moved on" and in one night, just in one night everything came back to where it had started. Everything came back to square one. Umaira washed her face and her make-up, she looked herself in the mirror. She has changed, time has changed, but then why hasn't her feelings changed. She shook her head and washed her face one more time. She quickly changed into her night wear- Hello Kitty pyjamas. Tying her in a quick bun she lay down on her bed. She pulled the duvet till her chin and stared up at the ceiling. All she could think of was Mehran and the time she has just spend with him.

Mehran kept driving aimlessly in the quiet deserted Delhi road, his car in high speed. He is confused about his feelings now. He has moved on right? It took him five years to move on. Then why did just one night bring back all the memories, the feelings back, like it had never gone in the first place.

He halted his car after what seemed like hours. He opened the door and stepped out in the open. The cool air hit his face and he shivered, but that didn't deter him. He walked into an open park and sat on the grassy ground. He looked up at the open night sky. The stars and the Moon hid behind the foggy night.

After fifteen minutes of laying down and staring up at the ceiling blankly, Umaira got up from bed. She wrapped a woollen shawl around her shoulder and opened the window. She dialled Ibrahim's number, she desperately needed a distraction. After few rings a robotic female voice said from other side "You have reached the voice mail box of Mr. Ibrahim Shah Alam."

Umaira cut the call-in frustration. Ibrahim had always been busy in work when she needed him, though he had cut down on her insistence yet somehow when she needed him he was busy. It bothered her first but then she got habitual of it, but after tonight from reason she felt much more sadder and angrier on Ibrahim than ever before. She tossed her phone on the bed and turned around and looked out into the foggy night. She wrapped her arms around herself and rubbed her palms on her arms and looked ahead.

'The Taj Mahal is so beautiful especially at sunrise and sunset. Haina!' Umaira chirped happily, she turned her head and looked at Mehran. She and Mehran managed to escape the crowd, also their college mates and luckily found a secluded spot which is nothing but luck to find a place like this in crowded place like the Taj Mahal. They sat in the spot looking at the Taj, admiring the beauty. Mehran turned his head looking at her.

'Not as beautiful as you, not even close.' He said with a dreamy smile

'Such Cheesy line.' Umaira giggled blushing.

Mehran smiled and held her hand, not once breaking the eye contact. Umaira stopped giggling and looked at him, stunned. He tilted his body slightly and placed his other palm on her cheek. Umaira gulped noticing his gaze falling to her lips. She felt butterflies realizing she is going to share her first kiss, with the man she is so madly in love with.

Mehran's heart beat two time faster than usual and he feared it might leap out from his chest. He is excited as well as nervous to share his first kiss, with the girl he is madly in love with. When their lips met, it was nothing less than magical. At first both were sloppy, they smiled into the kiss, trying to ease the tension. As the sun began to set, their lips moved in perfect synch.

'Shah Jahan loved his wife so much, he made this for her. What will you make for me?' Umaira asked, her head resting on his shoulder, their fingers entwined.

'Not only make for you, but make with you. I will give you not one but many that will stand as prove of my undying love for you.' Mehran said not looking at her but at the sky which has darkened after the sun set. Umaria looked at him amused.

'Really? What?' she raised her eyebrows. Mehran turned to her.

'Our children.' He smirked at her.

'Shut up!' Umaira blushed smacking his arm.

'Sir...Sir...' Mehran woke up with a jolt, he opened his eyes and quickly shut it, the bright sunlight pricked his eyes. He sniffed and smelled grass and sweat.

Slowly, he opened his eyes and found a man dressed in rags standing next to him, looking concerned. He must be wondering what a man dressed in three-piece suit doing sleeping in the park. Mehran sat up on the grass and massaged his nape.

'Is everything okay, sir?' The man asked. Mehran shook his head and stood up. Ignoring the questioning gaze of the man and many onlookers he walked towards his car. Once in the car, he fished out his mobile from his pocket and checked his phone. There are 20 miss-calls, 5 from Shadab, 5 from Amreen and 10 from Siham. He threw his head back resting it against the seat. He exhaled loudly.

'Hello.'

'WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU MAN? WE WERE LOOKING FOR YOU ALL OVER, WHERE HAD YOU DISAPPEARED. WE WERE SO WORRIED FOR YOU, YOU RASCAL' Shadab screamed as soon as he picked up Mehran's call. Mehran had to hold the phone few distance away from his ear, else his ear drums would have busted.

'Sorry man. I was in the park.' Mehran rubbed his eyes with his index finger and thumb. He explained he was disturbed last night and so he needed to clear his head.

'Better luck explaining this to your fiancé and sister.' Shadab said.

Mehran said nothing, he knew he must think of some excuse when he meets them. Amreen will lecture him and Siham will believe whatever he said. He isn't worried about Siham, but the lecture, he doesn't want that.
