Today was Maya's fifteen birthday, it is a special day for not just her but as well as Rick Goode who can now tell Maya of the Goode family legacy now that she is of age.

"Dad why are we walking in a tunnel?" Maya asked her dad. Maya wondered why the special place her dad is taking her to is in a tunnel, "You'll see soon, Maya." Rick told Maya and the two continued walking till they stopped.

Maya sees candles lit around the cave and as she got closer, she sees a large marking on the ground, and a small fire in the center of the marking. Maya looks at her dad and sees him staring at something. Maya followed his gaze and sees that he is staring at a stone. Maya walks towards the stone and sees it filled with crave names one of the names Maya recognized was Ruby Lane the 1965 Shadyside killer that murdered her friends, boyfriend then killed herself.

"Dad what is this place?" Maya asked feeling uneasy she wanted to go home and be with her mom, "This place Maya is where you will continue our family legacy." Rick tells Maya.

"Family legacy?" Maya asked confused, Rick nodded, "You are next in line to continue the family legacy like I have done, your grandfather, and your past ancestors." Rick pauses and approaches Maya and places his hand on her shoulder, "And I know you'll make me proud, Maya." Rick smiles as he ruffles her hair.

"What is the family legacy?" Maya asked, "Do you know what our family goal is, Maya?" rick asked ignoring Maya's question. Maya nodded, "To make Sunnyvale the best town to live in." Maya automatically answered.

"That's correct, and do you know how we manage to accomplish the goal?" Rick asked and Maya shook her head, "Let me tell you a story about your ancestor Solomon Goode. He didn't have the best luck in his life and was going through a recent family loss. So, to make his life better he made a bargain with Satan in order to get power, wealth, and influence amongst his family. He became the most respected man of our family and went on to share his knowledge of the ritual to his firstborn. One Goode from every generation passing down the knowledge. Firstborn to firstborn so the ritual can continue on." Rick explains and walks away from Maya leaving her frightened that her ancestor made a deal with Satan.

Maya turns around, "What is the ritual?" Maya asked, trying to put on a brave face, Rick doesn't face Maya as he pulls something out and turns around in his hand, he had a what looked to be a black outfit and large brown book.

"Selling the souls of Shadysider to the devil." Rick reveals Maya's eyes widened in shock, "And now that you're of age you can now know the truth will continue our legacy."

"But... but it's wrong were taking away innocent lives, dad." Maya argued back, "I don't want to be a killer."

"It won't make you a killer Maya. Because what you'll be doing is making your family proud and keeping Sunnyvale safe." Rick assures her and pats her shoulder before he begins explaining how the ritual works not aware of the tears that escaped Maya's eyes when he wasn't looking at her.

Next chapters will be focused on Maya and Ziggy. I just wanted to give a background story of how Maya was told of her family legacy.
