Chapter Twenty
Edited by: thirtxn
I was home - really home.
A bandage covered the scar on my cheek that Jessica gave me. I looked over at the citizen that saved me. "Did you really give her bombs?"
He smiled. "Only toy ones. Don't worry." I let out a relieved breath. Jessica didn't have anything to use against us. At least not for now.
"Thanks for saving me," I said.
"No need to thank me. I would do anything for you." I nodded my head and faced forward.
Was Jessica ever going to give up? Why was she doing this? Was bringing pain and suffering to people her goal?
It's not her fault. She has dreams. You need to respect them.
Said a little voice in my head. Maybe I do, I thought. No! What was happening to me?
Nothing. You're just realizing that what Jessica is doing isn't bad.
Maybe it wasn't that bad. I shook my head, something was definitely wrong. I was starting to side with Jessica. "Something is wrong," I said aloud.
"What is it, Princess?" the citizen asked.
"I don't know," I responded. "It's like there's a voice instead of me, telling me I should side with Jessica."
"That's not right," he said with a puzzled look.
I looked down at my hands. What was happening to me? Then I saw it - more like noticed it. My star, it wasn't glowing anymore. It was just a dull, grey star, not the bright purple star it had once been. The sun on my other hand was glowing more than ever. We had never found a way to remove it. It was stealing my star's power. "No, no, no!" I screamed, getting up. Before the citizen could even ask what was wrong, I was half way to The Caster.
-
"There's nothing we can do," he said. "There's something that's making that sun overpower your star."
"Nothing?" I asked with a feeling of dread inside of me.
"As of now, no. But maybe in the future," he responded.
"I don't have time to wait until the future!" I screamed.
People on this planet are about as dumb as raisins, the voice in my head said.
"That's not true!" I said aloud.
It is. It truly is. Why do you stay on this planet? Why not leave? Go someplace else, like the Day Kingdom.
"That sounds like a good idea, this place sucks," I said, dazed. I wasn't aware of what I was saying. It was like another being was taking over my body. I wasn't in control of it anymore. I fought against a barrier that was blocking my mind from saying what I just said wasn't true. But the sun's power was too strong."I want to go over to the Day kingdom!" I pouted.
"It's starting to take affect," The Caster said, shaking wildly. "This can't be happening now! We still have two more days." He shook his head back and fourth. Finally he grabbed my hand and started speeding towards an unknown destination.
-
"What do you mean it's already in affect?" my mother asked for the third time. I had to sit through The Caster telling my parents the whole story.
"Can I go to the Day Kingdom now?" I whined. My mother looked bewildered.
"Why would you want to do that? Don't you like living here with me and your father, Twilight and Brandon?" she asked.
I smiled. "Yeah. You're right, this place is pretty great."
"It isn't in full effect. The two sides of her must be battling over each other," The Caster said.
My father nodded. "So when anyone mentions the Night Kingdom she wants to be here and when someone mentions the Day Kingdom she wants to go there."
"Then we need to get her to Jessica," my mother informed us. The Caster stared at her in disbelief.
"Why!"
"Don't you remember? The only way to take a symbol off of a citizen is for the ruler of that kingdom to do so. It releases the citizen to go wherever they please. Only royalty can go wherever they want without their symbol taken off," my mother recited like a robot.
The Caster smiled nervously and scratched his head. "I guess I should of known that." Mother smirked.
"Come on! We've got no time to spare! We have to get her to the Day kingdom!" father shouted.
And with that we were off.
-
"Ha! You seriously expect me to help you?" Jessica snorted.
"Please! We'll give you anything you want! We'll give you your powers back! We have different methods to get them back to you!" my father begged.
"I don't want my powers back," she said.
"What do you want then?" my mother asked.
Jessica started to pace back and fourth, tapping her chin. Finally she smiled devilishly. "I want you to suffer and watch your daughter transform into a Day citizen."
My parents stifled back a cry. And with that sentence said, the transformation started.
