Chapter Three

Edited by: thirtxn

My mother came in, did her usual routine of spraying my windows and left without a single word that night. Once the house was silent I grabbed a jacket and planned to sneak outside. I tiptoed through the eerily quiet house. Once I was at the door, I slowly inhaled. My heart was pounding. I grasped the door knob, turning it cautiously. I heard the click of the lock undoing. I pushed open the door, stepped outside and gasped.

A beautiful dark blue sky with tons of shining stars stared back at me. The moon glittered white. I sat down, taking it all in. It was all I ever dreamed of. Then suddenly, the stars started moving, started spelling out a message. It said 'Go to the highest hill in the meadow, dig down ten feet.' Then the stars immediately arranged back to their normal positions. "What was that? Is that normal?" I whispered. Wanting to find out more, I followed the instructions and went to the highest hill in the meadows.

I took a shovel and started digging down ten feet. The sound of hitting metal made stop, so I wiped the rest of the dirt away, finding a latch as I did so. Nervously, I opened the latch, the ground from beneath me falling away as I fell. There wasn't enough time to even scream as I landed with a plop on the ground. I looked around. It was a bare room with nothing in it, expect for an orange platform with a silver bar around it. I walked over to the strange thing and looked it over. There was a green button on it, a door swinging open as I pressed it. I had always been told to not mess around with strange things, but the stars told me to come here, so I stepped inside of it. The door swung close and a sign appeared on it saying, 'Launching in five seconds.'

"Wait! No! Let me out!" I screamed, shaking the bars. But the machine continued to countdown. When it got to zero, I started screaming even louder, but I knew no one would hear me. Tears started spilling from my eyes and I let them out. The machine started rumbling and lifting in the air. A strange gas came out from a small vent in the machine, knocking me out, until the ride was over.
