Chapter Seventeen

"Bombs!" was all I managed to spit out.
"Yes, bombs! No one will survive. So neither will Skyler and I'll get my powers back. It's like crushing two birds with one stone."
"Isn't that a bit extreme? I mean, what if the blast effects us, then what?" I asked, hoping to change her mind.
"It won't. I had someone calculate the blast force and it won't come near us," she explained. "The only problem is that we don't make bombs, so we have to go to earth get them."
"And how long will that take?"
"Three days," Jessica answered simply.
Three days. Three days to stop her from killing everyone.
I attempted to push my "hair" back to calm myself, but failed. The wig slipped off and Jessica saw it all. "What the-?"
"I um - um," I started but couldn't finish because she stood up and pointed at me.
"Skyler? Is that you?"
"No!" I quickly denied, holding my hands up. Wrong move.
"It is you! I know that hair anywhere, and you have that star."
Crap! I'm busted.
I got up and started sprinting towards the exit with Jessica close behind me. She was on my heels. I could feel my bones shaking a I tried to run faster, and I ended up shifting into an animal – a cheetah. I didn't even know I could do that! Cheering silently, I ran faster. I dashed out of the entrance and towards the gate. I shifted back to my human form, knowing Jessica would never be able to catch up. My pet owl was waiting there. I jumped onto her and flew away faster than I could run as I cheetah. That was way too close, but I had gotten the information that we needed. And now we could be ready.

"She is not playing games," I said, speed walking into my parents room.
"What do you mean?" father asked.
"Bombs. She's planning on bombing us. She's going to earth to get them. She'll be there for three days. We have to go and stop her," I said, out of breath. Mother covered her mouth and started crying. Father tried to comfort her.
After she stopped crying, father looked at me. "You're right. We need to send all our guards down to earth to stop her."
"No, no, no! I'm going down to stop her. I'm stronger than all our guards combined. I'll be a better option," I protested. Father sighed.
"That's true. We have to send you down." Mother shook her head.
"No. We can't send you down there. I can't lose you again. I just can't," she sobbed. I put my hand on her shoulder.
"You won't. I promise. I'll stop her, even if it's the last thing I do," I said, my voice strong.
"I just can't lose you. I wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror if anything happened to you."
"Nothing will. I won't let it. Trust me. I can do this."
She stared at me for awhile, then finally spoke. "Ok. We'll send you down."
I smiled. I knew this was for the Kingdoms safety. The sad thing though was that I couldn't promise nothing would happen to me. I would risk my life for my family and Kingdom. If it meant dying to stop Jessica, then so be it.
