Chapter twenty

GIRLS WHO GET THEIR HEART BROKEN BY STUPID FUCKING ASSHOLES ON HOMECOMING!

🖤🩶🤍❤️

The girls were at the mall, strolling through the sale section of each store. "Are bows in this season?" Giselle picked up a frilly pink dress, peppered with small bows, and etched with a pretty lace detail around the straps. "Is this the new twenty-fourteen Tumblr coquette?"

"Mhm." Destiny hummed, pulling another dress from the same rack, immediately scrunching her nose in disgust. "Why're these ugly as hell?"

They couldn't find the right dress. Lola was looking too, hopeless. "Right? None of these are giving homecoming."

"They're giving cardboard box-coming." Giselle sighed and hung the dress back up. Adjusting her tote bag on her shoulder, "Let's check another store."

As the two followed behind, Lola's phone started ringing. She cringed at the caller ID. "It's my mom... She's gonna ask me about the fight."

"Ooh." Destiny gasped. "Good luck babe!"

The redhead cracked a laugh and told her friends to continue without her for a little. Taking a deep breath, "Hi mom!" She spoke into the speaker.

Not as enthusiastic, "Dolores." Her mother said. "Why haven't you been taking my calls?"

"Sorry mom, I've just been really busy with classes-"

"Busy with classes but somehow you had time to fight? Lola, is everything okay, honey? Is there something you need to tell me?"

Lola rolled her eyes and sat on the bench by the fountain. Children running around, women holding a plethora of shopping bags, gossip, laughter, the mall was filled to the brim. She stuffed one ear with her finger to hear better. "No mom, I'm just- I'm sorry about that. It won't happen again, I promise."

"I hope I can trust you."

Through the speaker, Lola could hear her father speaking. A smile creeping up onto her face, "What's he saying?" She asked.

She could hear her mother sigh, before passing the phone to her dad. "Carrot! How've you been?"

"Good, dad! What about you?"

"I'm missing my daughter. Heard she got into a fight, hope she's fine."

Lola laughed. "Your daughter's fine."

"I hope she knows how proud I am of her."

It was something Lola needed to hear. She'd been away from home for too long. It was cruel, in a way, how she had to spend the next four years longing for the home she grew up in. "Thanks dad."

She had a feeling in her gut. A feeling that was soon confirmed when her mother got a hold of the phone again, "Honey, there's something I need to tell you, but I'm not sure how to."

Lola gulped. "What is it, mom?"

She could hear them hesitating on the other hand. "We- we got a call from the hospital."

Fear. It had settled itself in the pit of her stomach. It was always there, lingering, though right in this moment, the fire spread to each of her limbs. Feeling it burn at her finger tips, Lola's chest heaved. "Why?"

"Honey, I just need you to know that everything is under control now-"

"What happened mom?" Lola's eyes were wide, shivers cascading down her spine. All the blabber in the mall was reduced to a vague headache. Her heart increasingly beating out of her chest.

Her mother gulped before telling her: "They told us he escaped-"

"What?!" Lola rose to her feet immediately. She couldn't think, couldn't feel, could barely breathe.

"Honey, it's okay!" Her mother reassured on the other end of the line. "He was recaptured this morning! I promise, everything is fine now!"

Seconds turned into minutes. Lola looked around, brows furrowed, the floor turning beneath her feet. "He- he was recaptured? He's back in?"

"Yes! I promise honey, he escaped for a day, but they locked him back up. There's nothing to be scared about, I just needed to let you know."

A sigh of relief trickled out of her mouth. Lola shut her eyes and sat herself back down on the bench, breathing heavily. She gripped the side of the bench with one hand, the phone with the other. "Are you sure? He's back in, right? You're sure?"

"I'm very sure, honey. They called us to let us know that they moved him to a different room, where he'll be supervised at all times. Are you okay honey?"

"You shouldn't have told her like this-" Lola heard her father in the background, "is she okay?"

"I-I'm okay!" Lola reassured the both of them. She took a deep breath and straightened her back, rubbing her forehead. "I'm okay, thank you for telling me. I just got- just got scared."

"It's okay honey. There's nothing to be scared of, okay?"

"Okay." Lola nodded.

❤️

"Lols, you okay?" Giselle asked the redhead, entering their dorm with shopping bags around their wrists. They'd been asking her the entire ride home, but Lola gave them the same answer each time.

"Mhm, I'm okay. Just tired."

Destiny groaned, sitting on the desk chair tiredly. "You ain't been sleeping." She stated. "Ain't there meds you can take for insomnia? I feel like it's really fuckin' with your brain."

"I take medication-" Lola chuckled, "can't say they help a lot, though." She was tired, bags under her eyes. She dropped her bags and lay down on her bed. "No but, seriously, I'm fine. I'm gonna fall asleep in some way or the other..."

The girls nodded. Destiny kissed her teeth and started rummaging through their bags. Checking the damage they did. She had to one-up her hoco look from last year. "Can't believe I spent two-fifty on this." A white, body-con dress reaching the floor, strapless, it was the best she could find on sale.

"You're gonna slay." Giselle reassured her friend. The three did dress reveals, talked about the makeup looks they wanted, which hairstyle they'd go for, and before they knew it, the clock struck twelve.

Two girls snoring away, while Lola sat by the window sill, it was all she did lately. Her nights bleeding into her mornings, her brain wasn't letting her sleep. She thought about what her mother said.

"He escaped."

And shivers bunched around her neck. Hairs standing straight all over her body, Lola sighed. There was nothing to be scared of. Nothing that should make her feel this way. "Everything's under control..." She whispered to herself.

❤️

The day she'd been waiting for. It was her first homecoming, and Lola had a lot to do... Like a two-hour shower, and covering the bags under her eyes. "Des, can you help me put this on?" She handed her friend the showercap, leaning forward to stretch the plastic over the hair rollers she put in the night before. "Thank you."

"You're welcome babe."

While Lola showered, "Des I'm using your straightener." Giselle sat at the desk, a towel around her body, the straightener already plugged into the socket.

"Mhm." Destiny nodded, busy herself, getting her robe ready for her shower after Lola. She had tick layer of her clay mask on her face, and a bonnet on her head. "I gotta go down to the bodega," her keys jingled as she neared the door. "ran outta lotion."

Giselle hummed, turning back to the mirror.

Down the hall, Destiny spotted the school's postman, "Gettin' ready for homecoming?"

She hummed joyously. "Anything for me?"

The postman cracked a smile, "Nothing for Destiny Dixon-" he shuffled through the envelopes, "But one for your dormmate."

The envelope read: 'To Dolores Fitz-Harold. (Aka Gingersnap)'

It didn't say who it was from.

Frowning at the writing, "She's in the shower right now." Destiny told him. "But Gigi's there."

Strutting down the hall, Destiny ran into yet another face she recognized. Though, this one wasn't all that exciting. "Ugh." She rolled her eyes.

"Destiny!" Penelope grinned widely. She eyed her up and down, from the bonnet, to the slippers. "You're so brave to be going out like this!"

It seemed as though she'd forgotten about the scars on her face, which she -unsuccesfully- tried to cover with cheap concealer and cakey powdering.

The pierced girl rolled her eyes once more. "Only thing brave about me finna be the hands I throw if you don't shut up." She shoved the five-head out of her way and took her sweet time strolling to the bodega.

Steam out of her ears, Penelope stomped her feet against the ground. "What a fucking bitch!"

❤️

"Y'all trippin' f'you think Imma step foot into that lame ass party." Namjoon wrapped himself up in his covers on the couch, while the rest of the boys dipped in and out of each others room to get ready.

Having showered, a towel around his waist, water dripping down his chest, "You not goin' with Emma?" Jungkook questioned. His wet hair sticking to his forehead, he started lotioning his humid body.

Namjoon clicked his tongue in response. "I ain't asked her."

"You're genuinely one of the biggest assholes I have ever met." Jin came in, slicking part of his hair back in the mirror. Wearing high-end dress pants, and a simple lace blouse on top. He'd be hosting Homecoming this year. "How Emma's still into you is-"

"Beyond you." Namjoon sighed, rolling his eyes. "Aight, I fuckin' get it. I'm a loser, let me live."

Amidst the bickering, Yoongi and Jimin entered the room wearing matching suits, only Jimin went for more cunty. Or at least that's what he had called it. A silk material on top, missing pieces out of it's waist, his 'Nevermind' tattoo on full display, as well as one nipple for good measure. Whereas Yoongi went for a modest version of it.

"Who's ready to party?!!" The blond one asked, popping the bottle of cheap champagne, thought it was very anticlimactic. He poured all seven a plastic cup to get them in the mood.

Namjoon, downing it in one go, "Fuck." Scorned in disgust and sank back into his covers. "That's fuckin' nasty."

He'd been looking up at them all getting ready, pointing at Jimin and Yoongi. "See, they the only couple up in this bitch... And y'all callin' me a loser! At least I got a bitch I can call mine." -That wasn't entirely truthful, but he continued- "Do you got someone, Jin?" He was cheeky, smiling cockily.

Frowning, "Please don't call your girlfriend a bitch." Jin gave him a light smack on the back of his head. "And my dating life is none of your business. Anyways, I have to go prepare." He left the room, making the others laugh.

"Period!" Taehyung chimed in. "Hosting looks sexy on you, hyung!"

"I got someone too." Jungkook shrugged, pulling his pants up. He had them tailored and all. Just then, his phone rang, and an immediate smile found his face. He took the call and walked out of the room.

While the others praised the tattooed boy for his relationship, Namjoon rolled his eyes. It was mostly why he refused to attend homecoming... And the lack of alcohol, but that's besides the point. Lola was going to be there, and he simply did not want to see her. Namjoon had discovered a new fear, and it was being attracted to his bestfriend's girlfriend...

"I don't need nobody when I got myself." Taehyung smirked, wearing a dark blue velvet suit, with a classy floral print blouse underneath. Of course, he was the best dressed. Combing his perfect hair.

Hoseok slouched over the couch, creasing his outfit in the process. "I do need someone." He blew raspberries. "Why do Jimin and Yoongi get to date, but I can't...? I'm the fun gay!"

"Being the fun gay isn't enough, clearly." Jimin laughed, throwing one leg over the other, while his hand rested on Yoongi's thigh. "You know you need to actually talk to people if you wanna date them, right?"

Hoseok slouched even more. "I can't talk to people. They need to approach me first, and then kneel down and tell me how badly they're in love with me, and tell me how willing they are to die for me, and then propose, and then cry when I say no, and then they need to chase me until I roll my eyes and force a cute little 'yes', and put that rock on my finger!" He took a deep breath.

Jimin was cracking up, while Yoongi sat watching with wide eyes. "What the fuck?"

Taehyung, too, stood baffled. "And you wonder why you're single, Hobi hyung. Yo' standards higher than mount Everest."

Their laughter was interrupted when Jungkook walked back in. "Yo I gotta go, see y'all at the party."

"You're going to Lola?" Jimin questioned.

Jungkook shook his head, already slipping into his shoes. "Margot just called, said she's here."

"So... You're going to pick up Margot?" Jimin raised a brow, rising to his feet to approach his taller friend.

Jungkook gave him a nod, rolling his eyes. "It's fine. I'll see Lo at the party, anyways."

"Your girlfriend." Yoongi spoke from the couch, disappointed. "Lola's your girlfriend, JK, not Margot."

"Hyung, I know-" Jungkook sighed. He took his last glance in the mirror, fixing his hair before turning back to them. "but I ain't seen Margot in a year. Lo wouldn't mind."

From the couch, Namjoon was pretending to sleep. He had to supress the urge to punch Jungkook in the throat. How could he think Lola wouldn't mind? How could he pick up another girl...? Over Lola? It was beyond Namjoon. He shook his head, furrowing his brows. Only then did he remember Emma, and the phone call they had the night before. She asked him to homecoming herself, after waiting for days, and weeks, and months. Namjoon remembered the faint sniffles when he told her no. When he told her he doesn't want to be at "that lame ass party". Emma had ended the call, and blocked him on all social media. It was a regular occurrence, and yet this time it felt as though it would be the last. Namjoon was relieved, in a way.

"How you so sure 'bout that?" Taehyung chimed in.

Groaning at every question, "Cause we talked 'bout this. She said she good with Margot being here."

"She's good with Margot being here, when did she say she's good with you picking her up-"

"Goddamn!" Jungkook interrupted Yoongi with a loud whine. "Why y'all up in my ass like this? I'm just gon' get Margot, and bring her here. That's it."

Against their protests, Jungkook walked out the door. He was going to pick her up, bring her to the party, and spend the rest with Lola...

❤️
homecoming!

The microphone in Jin's hand screeched through the entire auditorium, grabbing every student's attention. "Welcome everyone, to this year's homecoming, as well as the opening of our annual Spirit Week!"

He waited for the applause to simmer down, before continuing. "Make sure to sign up to as many activities as you can, because as you all know, the theme of this year's Spirit Week is... drumroll.... 'Sports and Leisure!'"

The had boys already squeezed their way through the crowd, with the exception of Jungkook -and Namjoon-, and cheered for their friend on stage.

"Just like every year, there will be a different sport assigned to each day of Spirit Week, which you'll be able to find on literally every event board." Jin made the crowd laugh, before clearing his throat. "Alright, now before you all get drunk on your apple juices, I'd like to kick this night off by inviting some of the former members of this community onto the stage, for a heartfelt speech!"

Again, the crowd cheered. "Wooooooo!" The boys clapped, waiting for the students, who graduated long ago, to make their way onto the stage.

Names that were only recognised through trophies and yearbooks were donning the microphone to tell their own experiences, and give the new students their best advice. Some were listening, some were pretending to listen, while most were chatting with others, and so were the boys until Jungkook pushed through the crowd to reach them. "You're here!" Jimin handed him a red cup with a mixture of fruit juices. "Where's Margot?"

"She said she's doing a speech!" Jungkook shrugged, taking a sip of his drink. Leaning in to hear better over the crowd's loud blabbering, "Where's bunny?"

The other boys circled around, "Not here yet." Jimin replied. "Texted Des, she said they'll be here in a minute."

The music bumping through the speakers wasn't loud, it was barely there, to ensure the speeches were heard, though the bass was enough to rush through their body.

Speak of the angel... Or maybe the devil.

Somehow, the moment Lola walked in, everyone else disappeared. Overshone by her fire, crumbling in choppy pixels behind her, everyone else was a blurr. Barely even there, Jungkook himself fought to stay within her fire, willing to burn.

She had done it again. Red.

Jungkook knew it would be. Dangerously close to the shade of her curls, scorching crimson diamonds trickling down her dress like a pyromaniacs dream. Upon her pale complexion were peppered freckles, and around her neck, Jungkook noticed a layered set of those same diamonds. Delicate, yet a wildfire. Just as he would describe her.

Dolores Fitz-Harold, you are a campfire in the middle of an ocean. Jungkook would've said, if he had managed to loosen his tied tongue. Mouth agape, he approached her, "Fuck." Eyes all over her unabridged self. "You look fucking insane."

Lola, giggling idiotically, tangled her arms around his bicep. "Thank you! You look very hot!" She smiled up, whispering over the chattering crowd. Behind her stood her friends, dolled up and ready to party-

-but not before Jin's annoucement. "Now, for our last member." He stepped on stage, reading off his cue cards and clearing his throat away from the microphone.

The boys weren't really listening. At least not Taehyung, as he found himself nearing Giselle. "What's up?"

"Hey!" Giselle smiled back at him, up and down. "You look dashing!"

He took it with a nod, grinning. "And you look-" he stopped, "hold up, Ion know another word like that, but you look good!"

She laughed with her head thrown back, and one hand on his shoulder. Though when their eyes met, Giselle preferred to look around... Unlike Taehyung. She sighed. "Uh, where's Namjoon?"

"He didn't come." Taehyung shrugged. "He's not doing well these days."

Giselle knew about it. Emma had been texting her all the details for the past month. Despite it being the tip of the iceberg, Giselle wanted to give Namjoon the biggest hug. She didn't know about Miss Park, or his newly developed drinking addiction, but she wanted to make it better. She wasn't so fond of the way her sister was treating him, Giselle believed she could do better.

Jin's voice through the microphone pulled her out of her thoughts. "This last name might be familiar to most of you, in fact, she shared multiple classes with many of you. Last year, she attended Brooklyn University like the rest of us-" he began, "though due to a horrible rumour being spread, had to change colleges and leave her life behind for another one. Please everyone, give it up for Margot Keller!"

Fire. The butterflies in her stomach... They were on fire. Lola gulped, that name ringing in her skull. It was no surprise, Jungkook had told her about this. So why was she scared? Why was she dreading to see the girl that made him smile on the phone?

Accompanied with hesitant applauding, a blonde girl standing five-foot-nine in heels made her way to the stage. She had fox eyes, an angelic smile, and cheekbones from heaven. Lola was gutted. Margot was undoubtedly beautiful. Insanely. Unfairly. Absolutely fucking beautiful.

So incaptivated by who she comprehended was to be her competition, Lola didn't even notice the way Jungkook watched her. His grin reaching from ear to ear, hands clapping and lips formed into an 'O' to whistle loudly. She had never seen him like that before.

"Hello everyone." Margot spoke softly. She was the type to put you to sleep with a voice so serene. "I'm Margot Keller. I attended Freshman year, and well, I must say I experienced some of the craziest moments of my life in that one year. I made amazing friends-" she searched for Jungkook in the crowd, and smiled when she found him, giggling, "kissed amazing guys, skipped countless lectures, and met some... not so great people-" She made the crowd laugh. "but in the end, when I got the invite to attend this year's homecoming, I didn't even think about it. I felt welcomed, and before I knew it, I was online looking for a dress to order. The thing is, if I have to be completely honest with you all, I was embarrassed. I still am. Those rumours they- they made me want to disappear. I know some of you are probably like: 'Literally who cares, like it's just a rumour. Stop being so sensitive, take a joke, na na na.', but to a girl who grew up being told she has nothing else to offer to boys other than her body, that rumour was the worst rumour anyone could've spread about me. Most of us know who it was that spread it, I won't waste my time talking about her-" Margot looked into the crowd in an attempt to find Penelope, though she wasn't anywhere to be found. "but there is one thing I want to say. And it's that I would've never done this to you... Ever." She cleared her throat, wiping the tears forming on her waterline. "And for those asking why I won't return to Brooklyn... This city kinda drained me, in a way, and I have a new life over in Queens, so I guess I won't see any of you again after this, which just makes me want to enjoy this night to the fullest. Thank you!"

The crowd took a second before breaking into a welcoming applause initiated by Jungkook, who whistled with his fingers in his mouth.

Overwhelming. That was all Margot could think. Jin joined her on the stage, leaning into the microphone to say, "Thank you for your speech, Margot." And cleared his throat before hollering: "Everybody please make the most of tonight!"

Music kicked in right then, heavy bass blasting through the speakers. 'Stir Fry' by Migos, ties and shoes coming off, and juice spilling all over the dance floor, the party got louder by each second.

Through the crowd squeezed Margot, along with Jin. "Hi!" She smiled at the boys. "Long time no see!"

"Hey!" The boys cheered, but didn't meddle long as most of them hit the dance floor. sneaking a red cup in her had. Jimin leaned in, "It has vodka in it!" And winked before joining Yoongi and Taehyung on the dance floor. Followed by Jin and Hoseok.

Destiny and Giselle greeted Margot with a hug, "How you been, girl?"

"Good!" Margot nodded.

Destiny took Giselle by the hand, "Let's go dance!" And dragged her out to the floor, hollering: "Lola come on girl!" As they strutted their way down.

Though, Lola didn't follow them. She waited for Jungkook to introduce her, and so he did.

"This is Lola, a new friend." ... As his friend.

Remember the burning butterflies in her stomach? Yeah, they were dead. Lola looked up at him, brows drawn together, her opal eyes glazed with tears. Her chin wobbled when she looked back at Margot, who stood with her hand out, smiling widely. "Lola? Cute name! I'm Margot! Nice to meet y-"

Lola left. Pushing her way through the crowd, disappearing into the flashing lights, she left.

"Is she okay?" Margot, concerned, questioned, though received no answer, only a sigh from the tattooed by standing with his face in his palm.

❤️

Crack. Burn. Shatter.

Lola felt it all at once. The floor turned beneath her feet, music pumping vaguely in the back of her mind as she gripped the edge of the porcelain sink. Eyes focused on the ones staring back at her in the mirror. They had shame written inside. She wanted to go back to her dorm, wrap herself in her sheets and suffocate to death. How did she let a man make her feel this way? Lola was appalled.

"Friend." She scorned. "A new friend." Her grip tightened around the porcelain, knuckles turning white, while her face turned a dark shade of red. "Couldn't even call me his friend... A new friend. Just some friend." Lola's whispers were heard by the couple girls entering the bathroom, though she ignored them. "Asshole."

As she splashed her face with water, "Where's Penny?" a girl fixing her lashes asked another girl. They were right next to Lola, their voices echoing in her mind. "Haven't seen her around."

"I don't know." The other girl shrugged. "She would never skip out on a party."

"Maybe she doesn't wanna see Margot." They laughed, "I mean, who could compare to Margot. She's like, the prettiest girl, and Penelope's just... There."

Lola caught up on their gossip, and as the girls walked out, leaving her alone in that bathroom, she drowned in her tears. Even Penelope couldn't compete with Margot, who did Lola think she was? No one even knew they were dating... Those girls didn't know Lola was Jungkook's girlfriend. She wasn't even sure herself, now.

She thought of herself three months ago. Lola would've never cried like this over a boy. Straightening her back, "Suck it up." She told herself, wiping her face dry. Thank the lord for waterproof mascara, she topped her lipgloss off and fixed her hair. She wasn't going to let anyone ruin her first ever homecoming.

Heels clacking as she walked out, she slowed down when she neared the stairs, hearing Charlie's loud voice echo through the halls. Lola had to hide behind the corner and eavesdrop when she heard him mention Anna Van Der Walsh.

"You knew her?" His other friend questioned, hands in his pockets, both leaned against opposite railings.

Charlie hummed, and took a puff of his joint. "Fucked her in a Chick-Fil-A parking lot once. She was a bop." He chuckled to himself. Cautiously, he looked around, which made Lola hide herself behind the wall, and lowered his voice to tell his friend: "Dude, you can't tell anyone though. I might end up being a suspect."

Lola's eyes widened, her breath hitching.

"Be honest though..." His friend leaned in closer, whispering: "Did you kill her?"

Lola watched as Charlie looked down sighing, unconsciously, her foot reached the edge of the first step of the stairs, slipping off before her heel thudded against the step.

Pulling their attention.

"Fuck." Lola immediately stepped back, gasping.

Charlie and his friend both looked at the empty hall, "Who's there?" They asked, running up the stairs. When they reached the top... No one. "Yo, someone was listening." His friend panicked.

He did too. Licking his lips in frustration, "You think they heard what I said? About Anna?"

"I don't know man." His friend, just as frustrated, "I just know it was a girl." said.

"How do you know?"

"Saw her heels." His friend replied. "They were red."

"Red." Charlie repeated. He had investigating to do.

Meanwhile, "Fuck!" Lola re-entered the party with her chest heaving. "Did they see me?!" Her fingers tangled in her hair immediately, and the crowd wasn't helping. Loud bass pumping agonizingly in her head, she pushed through the crowd to reach the bar. "Can I have a glass of water?!"

"Lols?"

"Aaaah!" Lola jumped back, swatting the hand on her shoulder. "What the fuck?! You scared me!"

Giselle, befuddled, stepped back and frowned. "Sorry...! You okay, Lols?" She asked over the loud music, which had started to give her a headache.

Lola could feel her heart beating out of her chest. "Yeah..." She sighed, downing the water being handed to her before sitting herself down on one of the stools. "I'm- I'm fine."

"Sure?"

"Yeah!" The ginger cleared her throat, looking around the room for her other friend. "Where's Des?"

"Somewhere dancing." Giselle shrugged and took a seat on the stool next to her. "Where were you? We called you like a million times."

Lola rubbed her temples with her fingers, wanting to be anywhere but at a loud party. "Bathroom." She replied. "Kinda wanna leave."

"Same!" Giselle turned to her, though her brows drew closer when she caught a good glimpse of Lola's flushed face just as the white lights shone on her for a split second. "Wait, why aren't you with Jungkook?"

The question she dreaded. Lola clicked her tongue and looked down at her hands, fiddling in her lap. "He's with Margot..."

Giselle's eyes widened immediately. "What?! Why?! Did Margot do someth-"

"He introduced me as his friend..." Lola cut her off, wanting this conversation to be over as soon as possible. "He couldn't tell her that we're dating. So we're friends now... I guess."

"So you broke up? Officially?"

"I don't know!" Lola scorned into her palms. She had way too many thoughts running free in her mind to focus on a single thing. "I guess so..."

Having no words to say, Giselle held Lola's hand in hers for comfort, until her phone started vibrating in her pocket. "Hold on. Gonna be back in a sec." She took the call and left the room for some quiet and peace to talk to her twin sister, who'd been calling all night, but Giselle didn't want to take it. Emma wasn't so big on parties, and preferred to study instead. That's why she was the smart one, and Giselle was the disappointment.

Left alone, Lola sighed, "Can I get another one, please?" her hand lazily pushed her empty glass across the counter, the same one she then gently slammed her throbbing head on.

Across the room, "Can't see shit." Charlie groaned. "What kinda heels were they?!"

His friend shrugged, "I don't know. Kinda like those...!" He pointed at the platform heels on a girl's feet, but like, without those straps!"

The two went on a hunt, analysing each shoe, though huffing and puffing at the way they were all moving. The dance floor was a jumbled mess, and finding the right shoe wasn't the kind of Cinderella activity Charlie was willing to go for tonight. He sighed, head thrown back, "Man, forget it. I need a glass of fucking water!"

His friend followed him to the bar, taking a seat, while Charlie noticed the redhead slouched over the counter. "Look who it is!"

Lola didn't hear him. Matter of fact, she didn't hear anything. Surprisingly, sleeping at a party was easier than sleeping in her own bed.

Tucking strands of her hair behind her ear, Charlie took a good look at her flushed face. "This the bitch that rejected me." He turned to tell his friend, laughing in the process. "Looks like she got rejected too."

Eyeing her entire body up and down, Charlie smirked, though that smirk faded when he realized the heels she was wearing. "Shh!" Smacking his friend on the shoulder, "Were these the shoes you saw?!"

The friend leaned in, squinting his eyes, which were then widene quickly. "Fuck. Yeah, those are it!"

"Fuck." Charlie groaned deeply. "I knew she was a real bitch when she talked back in class! Women like this are dangerous, you have to teach 'em how to behave!" It was as if the words were bubbling in the base of his throat. "C'mon, help me!"

"To do what?!" His friend questioned.

Charlie had already made his way behind her. "We have to get her outta here!"

"Why?" The friend, concerned, followed his lead. "Dude, I can't kill someone."

"We're not gonna kill her." Charlie leaned in to whisper over the music. "Just get her to a place where we can talk to her, see if she heard anything."

The two circled Lola like vultures.

❤️

"You're still at the party?" Emma put her phone on speaker. Lying on her stomach, she kicked her feet, books sprawled out in front of her. She was the straight A of the family.

Over the phone, she could hear Giselle groan. The music was vague, though it was pumped with bass.

"You know I'm gonna tell mom, right? She hates that you're turning into those party animals." Emma's mouth formed a smirk when she heard her sister's drunk plead on the other hand.

"Don't tell her about this, and I won't tell her that you're still seeing Namjoon."

Is what made her stop kicking her feet. Brows drawn together, Emma rolled her eyes. "You fucking bitch." She sighed, pushing herself off the bed... Speaking of Namjoon- "Is he there?"

"No." Giselle answered, surprisingly.

Their relationship wasn't going so smooth sailing. It was never very peachy to begin with, Namjoon started cheated very early on, and Emma started forgiving soon after. Though these last couple weeks felt different. Emma had been concerned about him. "Whatever." She shrugged. "I'm gonna study. Ever heard of that? No? Thought so. Go back to being a big fat loser." And ended the call.

She could only imagine the frown on Giselle's face.

Already slipping into her shoes, Emma left her dorm room and made her way down the hall. Homecoming had been so loud, even all the way on the other side of campus, -the boy's dorm rooms- she could hear it faintly playing. She walked the same hallway she always does, mostly to carry a drunk -or hangover- Namjoon through, or sometimes to do the walk of shame back to her dorm. The same door she'd always knocked on with both fists when she found out that Namjoon had cheated again.

Although this time, the door was open. Slightly ajar, but open nonetheless, and through the gap, Emma heard it... Again...

Namjoon's grunts with another woman. He'd take them back to his dorm often, and all it told Emma was that he didn't really care if he got caught.

She froze. It must've been the millionth time she caught him with someone else, though it always felt like the first time. Just as heart-shattering, just as damaging. This time, Emma wanted to embarrass him. She took out her phone and turned on her camera.

Video-recording, she slowly pushed the door open, so slow, you couldn't hear it creaking, and turned the corner. "Kim Namjoon you're so dead." She whispered over the footage, tip toeing quietly.

Taking a deep breath, "Busted!" Emma pushed the door to his room open. "What the fuck?!"

In a matter of seconds, milli-seconds, Namjoon got up off of Miss Park's quivering and naked body. "The fuck?!"

Emma's eyes were wide, her body frozen, her mouth agape. "Miss Park?!"

The woman stuttered through her explanation, so did the dimpled boy, but Emma listened to neither. "W-What the fuck?!" Tears blurred her eyes. "What the fuck is going on?!"

"Emma-"

"You're fucking Jimin's mom?!" Emma's phone slipped out of her hand, falling to the floor near Namjoon's bed, and was then kicked under it by Namjoon-

-who was itching closer to her, and eventually chased after her, down the hallway.

Miss Park had to stay behind, putting her clothes on, fixing her hair, and when she finally joined them in the hallway: "Please don't tell anyone!" Is all she heard Namjoon say.

Emma shoved him, cackling hysterically. "Are you fucking kidding me?! Everyone's gonna hear about this!" She turned to Miss Park, eyes full of disgust. "You're going to jail, bitch!"

"Emma please!" Miss Park couldn't really argue, "It's not what it looks like!"

"Oh shut the fuck up!" The blondie shoved her principal, too. "You're fucking a student! That's illegal! I'm sure the Headmaster would love to hear about this!"

"Emma baby-"

"Don't baby me!" Her angry eyes were back on Namjoon's stressed face. "Does Jimin know about this?" The silence had answered her question. Scoffing, "Well he's going to!"

"No! Please-"

"Shut up!" Emma screamed. She screamed. Lung-breakingly, she screamed at the two. "You two are fucking disgusting... How long?"

Another question met with silence.

"How long?! How long have you been fucking your friend's mom for?"

Namjoon's hands were on his neck, eyes on the floor, a flushed and sweaty face, "Almost two years..." he shrugged.

It was a simple shrug, but to Emma, it was years of secrets she thought she knew. She had become so used to the cheatings, Emma thought it was normal... But the principal? Jimin's mother? The old woman she hated seeing the face of? That was new.

"You two are done for!" She put her feet down, before stomping away.

Leaving the other two to melt away in shame.

Jimin danced like crazy. 'BANDIT' by Don Toliver was blasted. It was his favorite things. Music, dancing, parties, alcohol -that had to be snuck in-, and Yoongi. "Come on grandpa!" He laughed and pulled his boyfriend on the dance floor by force. "You have to match my freak!"

Leaning in, "I'd rather match your freak in a different way." Yoongi whispered over the music.

"Dance with me, and maybe I'll let you!" Jimin leaned in to say back, winking at the boy wearing a gummy smile.

While off the dance floor, Margot and Jungkook shared a tight hug in front of a phone camera. "D'you get it?" Margot asked the drunk guy taking sloppy pictures of the two, before taking her phone back. She turned it to Jungkook to show him, "Can I post these?"

He gave her a soft nod, bumping his head to the music while she did exactly so. "Caption it sum good!" He laughed. "Yo' caption game be weak sometimes!"

"Oh please!" She laughed back, showing him what she posted.

Jungkook threw his head back to chuckle at it. "That's funny as fuck!" He was drunk, words slurred out of his mouth like he paid for every letter.

"Come on!" She then insisted, grabbing his hand after shoving her phone in her bag. "Let's fucking dance!"

They joined the rest of the boys, squeezing through the crowd of students grinding and wining. Visions blurred, hands all over each other, though Jungkook's eyes were all over the room. In search of a certain redhead. At times, it seemed as though everywhere he looked she was there. To his left, Lola. To his right, Lola again. In front of him, and suddenly Margot had morphed into Lola, squeezing his biceps with her small hands. He rubbed his eyes, frowning at the feeling, before scanning his surroundings again, until-

there she was! Her red curls sprawled out on the bar counter, though Jungkook couldn't focus too much on her, and instead, his eyes turned dark at the two losers trying to drag her off her stool. Immediately, Jungkook stormed through, pushing everyone aside until he reached them."Yo! The fuck y'all doin'?"

"Pfft...." Charlie had taken a step back, rolling his eyes at the tattooed boy standing furious in front of him. His friend had already left, seeing the fire in Jungkook's eyes. "Calm down! We were just trying to help her!"

The others had joined, concerned with the way Jungkook stood threateningly. "Everything alright?" Jin questioned, helping Lola stand by throwing her arm around his shoulder.

"Think she's drunk." Taehyung chimed in. "Yo, who shared with her?"

"No." Margot interrupted. She knew the state Lola was in. It was far too familiar. "She's fatigued, I can tell."

"The fuck that mean?" Taehyung questioned.

Clicking her tongue, "It means she's half asleep right now!" Margot explained over the music, she told the boys to bring her to the couch while she made sure Jungkook wouldn't attempt murder. It looked as though he'd be completely capable of it in the moment.

"You gon' tell me what the fuck y'all was tryna do to her?" Jungkook took a step closer, making Charlie shiver, and clenched his jaw tightly.

Chuckling, "Chillax bro!" Charlie raised his hands as if guilty. Though the smirk on his face told him he wanted a bigger reaction out of Jungkook. "Was just trying to see if she's red down there too!"

Jungkook's hand touching the glass of water, and it being smashed against Charlie's head happened only in a matter of seconds. He had blanked out, kicking the bleeding boy on the floor while everyone around screamed in terror. So much so, the DJ paused the music, only the sound of students screeching around Jungkook, and Margot trying to pull him back.

The rest of the boys ran back to the bar, leaving Lola on the couch, and managed to pull Jungkook back. Though they were struggling to hold him. He was furious. Evil. Murderous.

"Out the way!" Two teachers. Rushed through the horrified crowd, one called for an ambulance while the other checked Charlie's pulse. The sole of his shoes dipped in the puddle of blood oozing out of his head.

Jin got a hold of the tattooed boy, dragging him out of the building. The rest of them followed. Surprised, eyes wide, mouths agape. None of them had expected any of it. "What the fuck did you do?! Jungkook?!"

The youngest wasn't paying attention to any of the words being thrown at him by his friends. Shrugging, "I did what I had to do." he laughed hysterically.

Horror. It was all they could describe it as. Pushing and pulling, they scolded Jungkook before losing hope. He wasn't listening. Didn't think he did anything wrong. Believed Charlie deserved it. So they left him. Entered back into the party, which wasn't really a party anymore, to witness Charlie being picked up by paramedics. He was unconscious. Looked dead.

The only one still with him was Margot. "Jungkook..." She stood with her hands across her agape mouth. "What the fuck did you just do?"

He shrugged, leaned against the low wall and placed a cigarette between his lips before lighting it. Margot watched him in awe, the way he took a long, deep puff, as if he didn't just almost kill someone.

"He could've died!"

"Woulda been better." Jungkook shrugged, holding the cigarette out for her to take.

Sighing, she did. Margot took it between her lips, leaning against the same wall. "You're fucking crazy."

He nodded.

Their conversation was interrupted by lengthy silence. Ambulance lights in the back, panic on the dance floor, students walking out gossiping, and faint police sirens getting louder in the distance. "Like, actually crazy." Margot broke the silence eventually, handing him back his cigarette. "You smashed a cup against his head... All for a girl you told me was your friend."

He threw his head back, tongue playing with his lip ring as he sighed in disappointment.

"Lola." Margot smiled. "She's special, isn't she?"

He nodded again.

"Let me guess, you two were dating until you introduced her as your friend...?"

Another nod.

She chuckled, "Typical you."

"I just don't fuckin' know, y'know?" He sighed, taking another long puff. "Like, I don't know, I ain't never called a girl mine before. That shi just slipped outta my mouth, but it ain't like I lied...? She my friend."

"Girls appreciate it when they're called what they are, though. She's more than just a friend."

He shrugged, groaning in frustration. "I fucked up. And this was her first homecomin' too."

"You are known to be a dick." She laughed.

And so did he. Body turned to her, "The fuck do I do now, though?" he asked, desperate.

"Well, first of all-" Margot began. "maybe find yourself a good lawyer because I'm pretty sure you're going to jail again."

Laughing, "Nah." Jungkook cocked his head back. "Jin hyung got me covered. I know he gon' handle it."

"I don't think you realize the severity of the situation, JK. Jin was really angry at you."

He nodded. "He always angry at me, but I know he got my back. I ain't worried about it. Money solves everything."

"If you say so." She shrugged. "Then I guess all that's left to do is apologizing."

He turned to her, confused.

Margot insisted. "You need to apologize to her for introducing her as a friend, for leaving her alone at her first homecoming party and ruining it for her." She counted all reasons on her fingers, and pulled up a fourth finger, "And for not ripping that dress off of her!" She laughed. "She looked sexy!"

"She did." He laughed along. "You got no idea how hard I was tryna hold myself back from bendin' her over anything I saw." He shook his head, sucking in air through his teeth while imagines Lola's naked body ran wild in his head. "She cool as fuck. I like her."

Gasping dramatically, Margot placed her hand on her chest, while holding his arm with the other, "The Jeon Jungkook likes a girl?!"

"Mane, shutcho bitchass up!" He laughed again, shoving her gently. "Imma apologize to her."

She nodded. "You should.... Maybe I should too."

"Nah, you ain't done none wrong. It's my bad."

"I did kinda steal you from her tonight. You two didn't even get to dance together." Margot tilted her head to the side, pouting only slightly. "I don't wanna be a homewrecker."

He chuckled. "Nah, it's fine. We got more homecomings we can dance at."

"Well then, at least tell her that she has nothing to worry about, and that I would literally rather be killed than date you." Her giggles bubbled in her throat as Jungkook shoved her playfully. "I'm serious!"

"Accin' like you didn't propose to me with a ring pop!" He played along, throwing the butt of his cigarette on the floor and stomping on it.

"Hey! The past is in the past!" Margot chimed. "No but seriously, you should let her know that neither of us feel that way about each other. I know you don't feel that way for me, so it's fine."

"Nah yeah!" He sighed. "It's all good. We friends for life."

"Friends for life." Margot repeated.

More and more were leaving for their dorms, while Jin was still inside with the rest of the boys, talking to the police before they got the chance to interrogate Jungkook.

"So..." She sighed. "That was an interesting night. Don't know if I'm gonna be able to sleep after that, but I have to wake up early tomorrow."

"You leavin'?"

"Mhm."

"Nah." He shook his head. "Stay a lil' more."

She laughed at the way he pouted, putting his best puppy eyes on display. "I can't. Brooklyn just doesn't make me feel like myself anymore."

"Just a couple more days." He insisted, "C'mon, I'm tired of seeing the same faces over and over. Ain't seen you in so long, Imma forget the fuck you look like."

Back and forth, they bickered. Jungkook told her to stay, and Margot declined, though he was a smooth talker, and an even smoother convincer. She rolled her eyes, eventually agreeing to it. "But only three days." Her finger stern, she pointed.

He nodded, "Bet." smiling at her.

"Wow, you actually missed me, huh?"

"Course!" He clicked his tongue. "Gotta look at pretty faces every once in a while."

"So, now you're saying I'm pretty?" She cocked a brow, playing coy because she loved their banter.

"I mean shi..." He looked up and down, head to toe, before meeting eyes with her again. "You gotta be blind f'you don't see it."

Something dropped in the pit of her stomach. Margot gulped. "Don't say that, JK. You have a girlfriend, or at least an ex-girlfriend you're trying to get back. It's not fair to her."

"I'm just sayin' what I see, Margot. You pretty as hell."

She had leaned into him, just like he did. They weren't close at all, and yet close enough for her to look up and remember the times she used to be able to kiss him on the lips without it being weird. Margot had to shake the feeling off. "Thanks." She smiled.

"Wanna be drunk all the time." He whispered, leaning in closer. "This shi feels nice."

Margot wasn't as drunk as him. Didn't have nearly as many shots as him, though she could feel the heat reaching her face. "Yeah."

In Jungkook's eyes, Margot had curls. Ginger curls. Freckles sprawled out on her face, and dark sage rimmed glasses too big for her face. She had a pearly smile, and opal eyes. A wisp of hair sticking out the top of her head like a tiny little flame. His own little campfire.

He wanted those lips on his. "Dolores." He whispered into Margot's mouth. Hands on either side of her face, he helped her ease into the kiss. "Dolores."

❤️

"Lols oh my god!" Giselle followed after Destiny, where they found Lola barely awake on the couch. "I'm so sorry, I literally wouldn't have left if I know something was gonna happen!"

"She's fine." Jimin, who had been waiting beside Lola, along with Yoongi, told them. "I don't even think she knows what happened. She was like, not conscious at all. Des, did she drink a lot?"

Destiny clicked her tongue. "She don't really drink like that. It's 'cause she ain't sleep a lot, sometimes she just be zonin' out." She explained while her and Giselle helped the ginger get on her feet. "Let's go to our dorm, babes."

"Need help?" Yoongi offered, though the girls declined. "Alright. Be safe, though."

Each throwing one of Lola's arms around their necks, they dragged her to the front door, where they passed by Jin talking to the police officers at the scene. "My father is Kim Si-Woo. I think you should handle this with him, I'm sure he'll have something in it for you."

The officers seemed to be intimidated by the name, and intrigued by the offer. They knew about Kim Si-Woo, of course. Everyone did. He was the richest, the most powerful. It was a shame Jin only ever got to talk to him in crisis, though.

"Small steps, babes." Destiny guided the yawning redhead through the door, taking in the deep fresh air once they were outside. "Aight, watch them stairs."

"Lols, c'mon." Giselle, too, helped her down the steps. Though through the corner of her eye, she spotted a certain black haired boy sticking his tongue down a blonde haired girl's throat. She gasped.

Once Destiny noticed too, they made sure to turn Lola's back on them, trying their best to make sure she didn't see the make out... But alas.

Call it intuition, Lola turned her head to the exact spot. Her opal eyes widening, "Jungkook?"

By the low wall, "What the fuck?!" Margot shoved him away. "Jungkook!" She was aware of the fact that he was drunk and didn't know what he was doing.

Coming to his senses, the visions of Lola standing in front of him wore off. It was Margot. Lola was in the distance, watching him with tears in her eyes. "Lola!"

Giselle and Destiny immediately picked up their pace, flipping Jungkook off in the process, but he insisted. "Lola baby-"

"Don't fucking talk to her!" Destiny hollered. She told Giselle to take Lola to her car, while she stayed behind to give Jungkook her two cents. "I fuckin' knew you was gon' do some to break that girl's heart, shoulda never told her to link up witchu."

"Just let me talk to her-"

"And what about you, girl?!" Destiny cut the mullet wearing asshole off, pointing a finger at Margot now. "You came back all the way from Queens, for what? Get back with this dumbass? What happened to bein' a girl's girl?!"

"Destiny, it's not what it looks like!" Margot protested. She gestured at Jungkook. "He's clearly drunk, look at him! He didn't know what he was doing, he thought I was Lola and kissed me so then I-"

"So then you just kissed him back? You knew he was thinking of Lola when he was kissin' you, but you just kissed him back?"

Silence.

"Y'all gotta shut the fuck up or it's 'bout to get ugly!" Destiny threatened before turning back to him. "And if I see yo' ass around Lola again, it's on sight. And I mean that!" She stormed off.

"Fuck!" His entire body covered in a million goosebumps, Jungkook's neck popped with veins as he kicked a couple flower pots over in frustration. "What the fuck do I do now?!"

"You're asking me?!" Margot, just as loud, shoved him. "JK, you just kissed me! After I told you to apologize to your fucking girlfriend! Do you know how fucked up that is?! You need to get yourself together! Go take a fucking shower, sober up! Clear your fucking head, JK! You have a girl that clearly cares about you! So show her that you care about her too!"

Margot left. Left him alone with his thoughts, though he couldn't meddle in them for long, as the police showed up behind him. "Jeon Jungkook?" He turned to face them, groaning. Behind the officers followed Jin, and the rest of the boys. -except for Namjoon-. "We've got a couple questions for you."
