"The NYPD confirms the male victim found in the lake is Charlie Conner, though they haven't been able to identify the female victim. The Brooklyn Mortuary states there is a large loss of DNA, that could've been used as evidence, due to the bodies being submerged in water for longer than seventy-two hours."
Jungkook and Lola sighed in relief, turning to each other. The others continued watching the news with eyes written in surprise. "Damn." Taehyung clicked his teeth.
"I mean..." Giselle began, sitting next to him. "I didn't like Charlie at all, but smashed in the head with a rock like that? That's insane."
The two were now gulping nervously, scared to look anywhere but into each other's eyes.
Taehyung chuckled. "My boy JK wanted to finish the job, on god!" He placed a heavy hand on his tattooed friend's shoulder in a proud manner. "Had to do watchu couldn't do on homecoming."
"I didn't fucking kill him!" Jungkook lied, sitting up in protest. He gulped and watched his friends frown in confusion.
"Yo, chill! It was a fuckin' joke!"
"Don't joke about that shit!" Jungkook rose to his feet despite the many pairs of baffled eyes on him. He grabbed Lola's hand in the process.
She mirrored him, humming. "Y-yeah! It's not funny!"
"Mane, y'all gotta chill." Namjoon groaned. "Ain't nobody said it was y'all that went out and killed that hoe."
Shrugging, "Still!" Jungkook groaned. "Somebody gon' hear and then I'm gon' get in trouble."
"Why would you get in trouble?" Jin arched a brow.
The two stood frozen, hands intertwined. Lola scratched the back of her neck with her free hand, eyes turning to Destiny and Giselle who were slouched comfortable in the boys' couch. The conversation was switched by Destiny, who had the same arched brow, only because of their connected hands. "I guess y'all back together officially?"
Jungkook and Lola looked down at their hands, before raising them slightly. "Right." He smirked. Lola's cheeks turned red. They were all looking at them, and she wasn't so appreciative of it. Thankfully, Jungkook felt her tense in the way her palm twitched. "Y'all done interrogating us? Can we fuckin' go now?"
"Where are you going?" Jin questioned.
Jungkook's head rolled back in frustration. All he wanted to do was leave the dorm.
"Yeah!" Jimin chimed. "Hobi and I worked hard for this party!"
It was a small celebration for getting the record deal. The form was decorated with balloons, colorful tinsel, and a couple drinks they had to smuggle in without RA noticing.
"We'll be back in a sec." Jungkook reassured, dragging Lola to the door. "Just needa- take a breath."
And thus, they were out the door.
The rest exchanged looks of confusion, and Jin was the one to break the silence. "I feel like they're hiding something."
"Like what?" Namjoon inquiried.
Shrugging, "I don't know." Jin said. "But I know it's been going on for way too long."
"You're right." Yoongi nodded. "They've been acting weird."
"So y'all noticed it too." Destiny finally sighed. "They been weird since Margot died, but I feel like something happened after that."
"Monday." Jin nodded. "Monday morning."
Destiny snapped her fingers together, pointing with her lips pressed into a thin line. "Right! Gigi, you said she looked scared when she came back from the repair shop, right? That was on Monday!"
Giselle nodded. "Yeah. She literally looked like she saw a ghost."
"So did JK." Taehyung raised his brows. "Was they together?"
"They must've been." Giselle turned to him, humming. "But what could've happened though?"
From the TV, Matt Horowitz'svoice echoed: "The Brooklyn Mortuary confirms Charlie Conner's body has passed the stage of livor mortis, which means he's been dead for at least twelve hours, though considering he'd been in the lake for longer than seventy-two hours, and the fact that he was last seen on Sunday, the NYPD says there's a high chance he was killed on the night between Sunday and Monday."
Silence took over the room.
Each pair of eyes in the room, laced with concern, were stuck on the laptop screen.
"Y'all think...?" Taehyung began, but couldn't finish.
Clearing his throat, "I think we're all thinking the same thing." Jin voiced.

Their mission was going to be harder than they though, with Carlos' camera on his truck. Jungkook suggested they take the camera, though Lola wasn't sure it'd still be attached to the truck, and even if they did, he'd just purchase a new camera. Their plan to just follow Carlos around for evidence was out the window. They had to find another way to somehow uncover him. Fingers intertwined, the two strolled along The Brooklyn Bridge, in deep though.
Lola came to a sudden halt gasping.
"What?" Jungkook turned to her. They were in the middle of the bridge, returning to his car. A gentle breeze blowing past, dancing in their hair, cluttering their lashes. "Baby, what happened?"
Lola's palm smacked against her forehead before she looked up at him with an agape mouth. "How didn't I think of this before?"
"You gon' tell me or what?"
"Jungkook!" She kissed her teeth. "If he filmed us following him around, do you think he was filming us when...?"
His mouth fell open. Teeth pulling his bottom lip in, an agitated look creeping on his face. "Fuck. He prolly does. That's why he sent those fuckin' cards. He can threaten us 'cause he got proof."
"Fuck." She scorned. Her fingers combed through her frizzy curls, pulling some from her scalp. "He's- he's gonna get us in jail... I mean- if he does have footage of us killing Charlie, why hasn't he taken it to the police yet?"
Jungkook shook his head, kissing his teeth. His shoulders shrugged hopelessly. "Ion fuckin' know. Maybe he's tryna fuck with us. Ain't that why he took us to Party City? To mess with us? Maybe your brother's tryna fuck witchu this way, Lo."
"No. My brother wouldn't just mess with me. He's planning something bigger, I just know it."
"Like what?"
"I don't know!" She scoffed. "Jungkook we killed Charlie! And there's probably a video of it, and if we don't do something about it, they're gonna do something about it! My brother won't play this for too long. He might even try to kill us-"
"Woah woah woah." Jungkook held her by the wrists, delicate, gentle, and pulled her in before leaning down to whisper: "Baby baby baby, shhh." He cooed. "Listen, he's not gonna kill us, I swear to fuckin' god I ain't gon' let nothin' happen to you-"
"You don't know my brother, Jungkook. He killed people-"
"We killed someone too!" He yelled in a whisper. Jungkook then pulled her in a tight hug, his arms wrapped around her head which was buried in his warm chest. "If he can do it again, we can do it before him."
"What?" Lola muffled into his chest, tears stinging her eyes. "Are you telling me we need to kill my brother."
"Not your brother..." Jungkook poked his tongue against the inside of his cheek when Lola escaped out of his grip. His eyes, suggestive, looked down at her confused face. His brows raised slowly.
Lola wiped a tear off her cheek, clearing her throat. "Carlos?" Once he nodded, "We can't kill Carlos-"
"Do we have another choice?!" Jungkook scorned. "Ain't you say we needa destroy his sources outside? Let's just fuckin' kill him. Boom. Problem solved."
"Jungkook, we're not killers!" She shoved him back, stepped forward until his back was against the rails. Cars driving by behind her, usual Brooklyn traffic ringing in her throbbing brain. "I'm not like my brother."
"I know you ain't." Jungkook pulled her in by the waist, planting a kiss on her forehead. "Baby, you ain't like your brother, so let me do it. I killed Charlie, I can do it again-"
Lola's eyes were wide, and full of horror. "No!" She snapped, stern, and certain of her word. "You are not killing him! We're not doing that again! Forget it!"
❤️
They had returned to the boys' dorm, hands no longer intertwined. The rest watched them sit on either side of the couch, Taehyung settling between them. "The fuck happened?" He frowned. "Y'all walked outta here like a married couple, and came back like the divorced parents of five kids."
It was true. They had argued the entire ride back. What started as a way to breathe in some fresh air, turned into a back-and-forth bickering of the two. Jungkook was insistent on killing Carlos, and Lola was opposed to it. In the process, they had said things that weren't so nice. Jungkook had told her: "You mad at me for tryna fix this as if it wasn't you that was out alone at night."
To which Lola had scoffed at, snapping. "Oh, so now it's my fault Charlie attacked me?!"
Jungkook had rolled her eyes, clicking his teeth. "I ain't said that."
"Then what did you say?"
"Nothin'!" He had protested loudly. "You just mad at me for wanting to protect you, when it's how I protected you against Charlie!"
Lola had scorned at his words, eyes rolling into the back of her head. "By smashing a rock into his head over and over?!" The imagery made them both queezy, though Jungkook hadn't shown it.
"Yes! I had to kill him to protect you! And now I have to kill Carlos to protect us both-"
"No you don't!" Lola had cut him off angrily.
"Yes I do! You accin' like I'm some kinda fuckin' monster for thinking this! It's the easiest way to get us outta this mess!"
"Easy doesn't always mean good! We could get in more trouble if we kill another person, and besides, Carlos isn't my brother's only source. There's still a girl named Penelope, which could be the Penelope we know-"
"Okay, let's kill her too!"
"Kill her too?!" Lola had gasped at his words. "Jungkook, you can't be thinking this way! Do you have any idea how many women have been killed in the past like, month! And let me remind you how Margot is one of those women!"
Jungkook had ignored the comment about Margot, and fastened the car's pace. "But Penelope's a bitch!"
"We don't even know if it's -the- Penelope, or just -some girl- named Penelope! And besides, even if you think a woman's a bitch, she doesn't deserve to be killed!"
Was the last thing Lola had said before the car went silent. That was the ride back to the boys' dorm. And now they were sitting on either side of Taehyung, brushing off his questions with simple hums.
The rest of the group had been thinking about their behaviour, though they couldn't be sure about it. They couldn't be sure that Jungkook and Lola were killers, so they had decided to carefully watch what they were doing. It was mainly Jin who had taken it upon himself to analyse the two all night.
Jimin put on the playlist him and Hoseok had been making since morning, in celebration of their record deal, while the others stood around with drinks in their hands. Taehyung leaned against the wall, a plastic red cup in his hand, talking to Giselle in a smug manner.
"So, how's your mom doin'?" He winked.
"My mom?" Giselle's brows pulled together. Taehyung was clearly drunk. She chuckled under her breath when he nodded. "She's doing good, I guess... How's yours?"
Taehyung put his boxy grin on display. "Ion got one."
"You don't have a mom?"
He shook his head, eyes half-lidded. "Lost her."
"Oh..." Giselle pouted. She placed a hand on her chest, while her free hand caressed his wrist. "I'm so sorry for your loss."
Giggling, "Nah." Taehyung stepped closer to her. "I mean lost her as in like, we can't find her."
"What?"
He hummed. "Was seven when I last saw her at the park, then we lost her. We don't know where she is!" The alcohol had gotten to his brain, Giselle thought, with the way he chortled loudly.
"Oh?!" She pulled a face of concern.
Behind them, close to the speakers, which played a selection of songs, mostly Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, stood Jimin, hands thrown around Yoongi's neck. "How's it been with your mom?"
"Good." Jimin shrugged. "As good as it can be, y'know? She's still a raging homophobe, still hates you-"
Yoongi chuckled.
"But I haven't really talked to her lately, so, I guess this is the best I've been with her."
Nodding, "You know I always gotchu, right?" Yoongi leaned in to whisper. When Jimin nodded, he pecked his nose and pressed his forehead against his. "Jiminie?"
"Hm?"
"If I'm ever actin' up, you shut that shit down. Deal?"
Jimin giggled, hands on his boyfriend's chest now. "Where'd that come from?"
"Don't know." Yoongi shrugged. "You keep me grounded. When we get big, I know you're gonna stay humble, 'cause you got a pure heart, but I have the potential to act up. So if we get big, and you notice I'm acting too much like a celebrity, call me out on it."
The blonde boy laughed again, head thrown back, giving Yoongi the chance to admire his features. Eyes disappearing behind a crease when he laughs, his crooked front tooth visible when he laughs with his mouth open, barely covered with his small hand. Jimin was a sight to take it, and Yoongi was utterly and insanely in love with him. "I will." Jimin ensured.
Namjoon and Destiny were the victims between Lola and Jungkook now. They weren't ever fond of each other, until this very moment. Who knew sharing a blunt could cure broken bonds. "Hol' up, you know Rio?" He asked, turning to her.
"Who doesn't fuckin' know Rio?" Destiny laughed, taking the joint from out of Namjoon's fingers. Eyes red and half-lidded. "That motherfucker was always messin' with Miss Corey."
"On god." He pointed, "He was always on some bullshit." chuckling. As Namjoon and Destiny reminiscing over past memories, their middle school experiences resurfacing, Lola glanced at Jungkook on the other end of the couch, blocked by two zooted heads. She chewed on the inside of her cheek, thinking back to their conversation in the car.
By the table, Jin sat with his leg thrown over the other. Hoseok had been sitting beside him, until he went for a smoke by the window, leaving the oldest alone at the table. Jin hadn't been partying, anyways. He'd been watching Jungkook and Lola sit at an awkward distance from each other, acting weird or... Nervous.
Eyes squinted, he watched Lola. She drew her phone out of her pocket, and her eyes immediately widened at whatever was on the screen. Swiftly, she nudged Jungkook and jutted her chin at the bedroom door, signaling him to follow after her.
Jin watched all of it go down in a matter of seconds, and only rose to his feet when the two closed the bedroom door. The party continued, though not for Jin. And very soon, it wouldn't continue for any of them.
Inside the bedroom, "We were right." Lola whispered. Nicki Minaj's 'Roman Holiday' could be heard vaguely through the door. She held her phone in front of his face. "Carlos does have a video of us killing Charlie."
Jungkook's fingers tangled in his black hair, holding her phone with his free hand. The footage showed him and Lola dragging Charlie's lifeless body through the forest, before rolling him into the lake.
Palms clammy, sweat rolling down their spines. Veins popped out on Jungkook's thick neck, which he cracked in frustration."Fuck. We're fucked. If he shows the police, it's over."
Another notification dinged. He pulled it down to read the message Carlos had sent. Lola hovered over the small screen to read along.
"Don't worry. I won't show the cops... Not yet."
Panic apparent in his voice, "Fuck fuck fuck fuck..." Jungkook cussed under his breath. They were so engulfed in the message, they hadn't noticed the decrease in the volume of the songs. "Lo, the fuck do we do?"
"I don't know!" She snapped back. "He says he won't show the police!"
"Not yet!" Jungkook reminded. "Listen, it don't matter the fuck we do to destroy Carlos and that Penelope girl, if this video gets to the police, it's over. We could get life if they find out we killed Charlie."
To their surprise, the door to the bedroom creaked open to reveal Jin standing with his mouth agape. Behind him, the rest of their friends stood frozen.
"Fuck..." Jungkook and Lola whispered in sync.
