Chapter one
GIRLS AND THEIR PERIODS!

The following days were cumbersome for her. The fear had started to settle in her heart, and there was no bell to tell her class had started.
She rushed down the hallway, joined with Giselle, who had no problem catching up to Lola's short but quick struts. "Lols, it's fine! You can be late in college!"
Anyone who believes everything is fine in college must've waited their entire life for it. To Lola though, it only meant double the responsibility.
"If I don't care about my future, no one else will." She felt her stomach churn when almost all eyes in the lecture hall landed on her and Giselle.
The professor took no pause.
"Fuck!" Lola groaned as her and Giselle took their seats and realized how far the class had gone. "I'm gonna have to ask someone for notes."
"You can take mine."
Behind her giggled him.
Lola snapped back and scorned; "What are you doing here?"
"Girl we got class too." Jungkook put his pearly whites on display, and Lola felt them chomp relentlessly on the butterflies inside her stomach.
Giselle turned back too, smiling at the two boys laughing like children. One of them, in particular, had been on her mind lately. She wanted to fall into those dimples, and disappear amidst the darkness.
Namjoon melted her into a puddle with one look, "Yo, Gi."
"Hi." She shivered.
"You seen your sister today?"
Giselle shook her head and sulked. Reminded, once again, of the fact that she'll never have him. He wasn't hers... He wasn't truly her sister's either.
Meanwhile, "Psst." Jungkook snapped his fingers against Lola's tight curls. "You comin' to the party tonight?"
"No."
"Why not?"
She buried her face in her palms. "Because I'd take any chance to stay away from you."
"Damn." He scoffed through a breathy chuckle. "You hate me that much?"
She gave no answer, and yet Jungkook kept asking. So much so, he had to lean down, as much as their desk allowed, to call out her name.
"Bro forget it." Namjoon pulled the younger one back to his seat and clicked his tongue. "Somebody clearly on they period."
As she watched him laugh over things that aren't funny, Giselle felt her spark for Namjoon dim momentarily. Times like these reminded her of exactly the kind of man he was. Just like the rest.
Lola, on the other hand, had never stayed silent against men. "Excuse me?"
The second Namjoon opened his mouth, Jungkook covered his gaping one, for he knew what was to come.
"I'm just sayin' like, girls be cranky and bitchy when they get they period." Namjoon uttered pompously. "You got a lil' attitude too."
With every ounce of her blood boiling, "If I'm on my period, you must be pmsing hard because it seems you can't handle even a fraction of emotion coming from a woman. I'm sure it's sad, being such a loser!"
A thick smog of silence blew past them, until Lola broke it apart by grabbing her bag and laptop to move three rows down.
"Aye?" One brow raised, Namjoon leaned back. Both their eyes were glued on Lola's back. "The fuck's pmsing?" He questioned.
To which Jungkook shrugged.

"So... Are you going to the party?"
Destiny rose to her feet by Giselle's exciting question. "Party?!" She had immediately ran into the bathroom to grab a razor. "Who's throwing?"
"Namjoon." Giselle laughed. "He's doing another welcoming party for—"
"Freshmen." Destiny pointed her finger knowingly. While she lathered her leg with shower gel, she explained to Lola; "He did one last year, mainly for himself, but it was so fucking insane like! You had to be there for real! Right Gigi?"
Giselle squealed exhilarated. "Oh my god yes! Come on Lols, let's get ready!"
Clearly not interested, "I need to study, but thanks." Lola zipped up her sweatshirt and pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose before indulging in her laptop screen.
The other two gave each other a look before digging Lola out of her covers and onto her feet.
"Hey?!" The redhead stood cold and irritated. "I can't go! I have like, so much to do!"
"Like what?" Destiny queried sassily, razor in hand.
"I have to complete my notes, go over them again, make my schedule for the next month, call my mom, and—"
"Yappa yappa yappa." Destiny had her foot back on the side of the bathtub, halfway done with shaving. "Like it's giving... Y/n."
Lola frowned, "Huh?"
Giselle giggled behind her hand before opening the closet and fiddling through Lola's side. "Lols, you're coming. Period."
"Gigi-"
"I said period!" Giselle cut her off and pulled out a strapless black dress. "Oh. My. God!"
Upon raising her head, "Oh wow!" Destiny gasped. She pointed her pink razor at the tight dress, "That's sexy as hell!"
"Oh my god you have to wear this one!" Giselle held it against Lola's shy figure. "Where did you even get this?"
"H&M." Lola shrugged, "It was on sale."
"And they say fast fashion is bad." Destiny chimed from behind the bathroom's self-closing door.
Giselle helped her out by placing a small brick in front of it, which they'd brought in from outside to use for this exact purpose.
Meanwhile, Lola had plopped herself back on her bed. Her curls spread around her freckled head, like flames bursting out her brain. That's how she felt anyways. Sleepless, and aggravated. "Whatever, I'm not going to that asshole's party."
"Oh." It suddenly hit Destiny. "He do something fucked? Is that why you ain't coming?"
"He said the thing about girls and their periods again." Giselle pressed her lips into a thin line and took a seat at their shared desk. "Lola called him a loser though!"
Destiny's eyes filled with pride. "Oh purr!" She snapped her fingers. "Sometimes you gotta be a lil' mean to them so they know they place."
Although proud, "It doesn't matter." Lola sighed and pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose. "He probably doesn't even remember me... Why are boys so, ... Ugh!"
She couldn't find the words she'd been searching for, and chose to scream in her pillow instead.
Destiny and Giselle nodded slowly. A wave of dire sadness washed over them. It felt hopeless, stupid even, to talk to a man and expect empathy.
"I get it." They reassured her. Comforting, and easing the thick gloom around them. "It's not even worth talking about." Giselle added before browsing through her own dresses. She'd worn all of them countless times, to countless occasions in which boys didn't even notice the color, and yet here she was again, picking the one she thought Namjoon would like best.
Destiny, on the other hand, emptied her make-up bag and used her clear skin as a canvas. "I don't wanna like, force you or anything, but you'd look real sexy in that dress, girl." She watched Lola contemplate in the mirror.
"Fine." She blurted after a brief moment of silence. She walked into the bathroom, but before removing the brick, "But if a boy talks to me, even if it's just to ask the time, I'm out." she scorned.
And with that, she shut the door.
The other two burst into laughter. "Girl, are you sure you're not a lesbian?" Destiny poked fun.
"Sometimes I wish I was! Like it's embarrassing to be into men! I feel like a sinner!" Lola yelled back.
