Jungkook was into the date, now that he knew it was his last one with Penelope. She had excused herself to the restroom, while Jungkook held his phone to his ear, nodding. "Yeah, got good news for y'all."
"Really?"
Over the phone, Yoongi let out a sigh of relief.
Humming, "Real." Jungkook told him. He heard the clicking of heels and cleared his throat. "Imma be back in ten."
The call ended the second Penelope took her seat again, greeting him with a smile. "Who was that?"
"Yoongi hyung." Jungkook shrugged. "Said I gotta be at the studio, y'know, to work on some songs."
Nodding, "Oh, right." Penelope leaned in, holding his fingers with her shorter, slender ones. Jungkook bit through it just for the sake of it. "When's the album being released, by the way?"
"Next year." Jungkook told her, pushing his chair back as he rose to his feet. He couldn't free his hand from her grip until they reached the door of the coffee shop, though even then, he was met with an even worse face.
With his arms stretched out, "JK!" Carlos walked in, dapping him up immediately. His eyes were filled with something Jungkook recognized. Arrogance, as if dominating, he declared power over him. "How you been?" He asked, as if clueless. Carlos knew exactly how Jungkook's been. Too well.
Jungkook was less interested in the embrace, considering their recent history. He knew Carlos was a smart one, and even after the truck mission, that ended in a Party City parking lot, he was convinced a lot more. Carlos was going to play the game of oblivion, smile in his face, and torture him behind his back. Jungkook didn't mind it. The one that laughs last, laughs best...
He shimmied out of Carlos' tight hug, and jutted his chin at Penelope, "This is Penelope. Y'all never met 'fore, right!"
Penelope's awkward grin stretched from ear to ear. "Y-yeah! We've never met." She reached a hand out for Carlos, who looked at her intimiately.
"Nice to meet you." He shook her hand. "I'm Carlos."
It was funny, watching them meet. Jungkook let out a breathy chuckle, before waving them goodbye and leaving the coffee shop with his hands in his pockets. "I'll see y'all."
"Yeah!" Carlos waved after him. He turned back to Penelope, his jaw clenching. "See you..."
"Fuck." Penelope then sighed, eyes wide and glaring at Carlos. "I don't know how much longer I can keep doing this."
"If you don't wanna die, you have to." Carlos leaned in to whisper. He looked around, clicking his tongue. "And why're you on a date with him again?"
Penelope rolled her eyes, following him into the kitchen of the coffee shop, and watching him clean the counters. "I wanted to take him out..."
"What'd he ask you?" Carlos turned to her, looking around at the two workers seemingly minding their business before leaning in and glaring into her dark brown eyes. "Anything sus?"
Sighing, "No." Penelope told him. "Carlos, he's genuinely just interested in me again!"
"Don't be stupid!" He snapped, clearing his throat after grabbing the attention of the workers, finally. He gestured them to keep working before licking his lips, worried eyes back on Penelope. "Penny, he's obviously being close with you because he knows you're involved in this shit. He's trying to expose us, and I know those little friends of his are helping."
Penelope threw her head back and groaned. "Can you stop being paranoid? Dominick said they won't be able to do anything, as long as we have the video of them killing Charlie. Relax."
"Maybe we should just give it to the police-"
"Don't even think about it!" Penelope held a finger in his face, brows knitted together. "We are not telling the police, that's just gonna get Jungkook locked up. We're just gonna wait for Dom's next mission." She took a deep breath as her mouth curled. "Anyways, did you take the pics?"
Carlos turned to her with a scorn, drawing out his phone before scrolling through the pictures in his gallery, though when Penelope asked him to send them to her he clicked his tongue. "Tsk tsk tsk." Carlos pulled his phone away, making her sulk, before holding his hand up and rubbing the tips of his pointer finger and thumb together suggestively.
Penelope rolled her eyes, groaning, as she set her bag on the counter and pulled out a stack of money. "Here." She shoved it in his hands. "Exactly ten thousand. Now send me the pics."

️"What happened?!"
Was the first thing they asked when Jungkook walked into the dorm, wide eyes on all their faces. Laughing, the tattooed boy took his sweet time closing the door, leasurely taking a seat on the couch, cuddled up on Lola, who was just as curious as the rest.
"You said you had good news..." Yoongi reminded, yawning. "What is it?"
"You got sum we can blackmail that nine-headass bitch with?" Destiny asked, fingers tangled together, as if begging for a miracle.
They sat in a circle around him, impatiently waiting for an answer. Jin tapped his foot, "So?" he arched his brow and sighed. "Are you gonna tell us the good news or keep staring like an idiot?"
Grinning wider, Jungkook turned to Lola. Sparks in his big brown bambi eyes, he held her close and planted a kiss on her nose. "See? Told you I was gon' make her talk. No more dates." He smiled. "I'm all yours."
"It's over?" Lola smiled back, whispering. "No more dates?"
"No more." He repeated.
The others watched with half-lidded, tired eyes. "If y'all gon' fuck, can I watch?" Taehyung giggled, earning a pillow to his face, thrown by Lola. "Damn."
"JK!" Jimin whined, throwing the pillow back at the youngest. "Come on! Tell us what happened!"
"Yeah!" Hoseok encouraged, dragging the others along. All of them clapped their hands, cheering for him to reveal Penelope's big secret, mouths wide open, ready to jump in the air with immense excitement-
"Her dad's committing tax evasion."
...
A couple hundred sighs, and the collective shut of eyes. The group groaned at the anticlimactic reveal.
"The fuck...?" Taehyung scoffed. "That's it?"
Destiny, too, groaned. "That's the big secret? Her dad doin' what rich people be doin' all the time?"
"Y'all good?" Jungkook leaned in, hands on his knees, as he knitted his brows. Licking his lips, "I'm talm 'bout millions of dollars, like, millions."
"Hold on." Jin, leaning forward, cleared his throat. "How much exactly, are we talking about. Like a couple million-"
"Try a couple thousand million, hyung." Jungkook cut him off, pointing a finger before leaning back and throwing his arm around Lola. "Since twenty-fifteen."
She sat with her mouth agape, "Holy shit..." she let out a deep breath. "That's like, a massive felony."
"Exactly!" Jungkook exclaimed, holding her head in his hands and pulling it close to plant a kiss on her temple. "This why you my girl! You the only one that gets me!" Brown eyes watching his friends slowly hop on the wagon, "Her dad could go to jail fo' that shit! Could use that to threaten her ass!" he said.
What to do next...
It was the only question turning gears in his head, and with the way his smirk grew, it was clear he had an idea set in motion in his mind, Jin rose to his feet. "We need a burner phone." He nodded. "So we can call Penelope and threaten her-"
"She know all our voices though." Taehyung pointed.
"Right." Jimin agreed. "We need someone she hasn't met before, or she'll recognize it's us."
"But who?" Hoseok scorned.
Slowly, their eyes turned to Jai and Kehlani sitting baffled on the couch. Smiling, "You two." he pointed at them.
"We?!" Kehlani exclaimed, while Jai was already shaking his head no. "We can't!"
"Yes you can. All you have to do is put on masks and tell her she needs to stop working with Dominick, or you'll report her dad for tax evasion." Jin told them, encouragingly. "We're racing against time," he then brought his hands together. "so let's hurry up before they can give the video to the police."
"Oh-" Lola's phone rang. A smile forming on her face when she read 'Dad<3' written on the screen, she excused herself with a hand on Jungkook's lap, before strolling into his bedroom. "hi dad!"
"Carrot! How've you been? I've tried calling you this morning but you didn't pick up."
She cleared her throat. That question didn't have a simple answer, and she wasn't sure if it ever would. "Yeah..." She stuttered. "I'm good, dad! I must've been busy, sorry."
"Don't be silly, I was just worried. That's all... Y'know, the whole incident on Halloween, it must've taken a toll on you. How've you been dealing with it? Hernando said you and Carlos are getting along quite well again!"
Lola's pacing steps came to a very sudden halt when she heard the name. It was terrifying, how a single name had that effect on her. Carlos was almost as threatening as Dominick. Lola had to remind herself that he was only a pawn in the game they were playing. No one was truly as evil as her brother... Or at least that's what she wanted to be true. It ate her from the inside out, to think she was somewhere near. Evil. It felt as thought it had been brewing inside her since the first moment she held the body bag. Lola wanted to wash it off, but even out of sinks, it wasn't water that poured. It was blood.
"Uhm-" she cleared her throat again, spine dripping with sweat. "Y-yeah... I'm doing fine, dad."
"You know I love you, right carrot?"
Lola's nerves softened with her dad's words. She smiled, nails digging in the back of her neck. "I know. I love you too, dad." From the dorm living room, Lola heard yelling. "I need to go, but I'll call you later!"
Ending the call after her dad's soft okay, she opened the door to the living room to find Jungkook's hands clenched around Namjoon's collar, pulled in harshly, as if ready to kill. The others had surrounded them, attempting to break up another fight brewing.
"What's going on?!" Lola reached for Jungkook's arms, so was shoved back lightly, she noticed the rage in Jungkook's eyes. They weren't brown, but a dark mud color. Similar to the color of the forest ground, when they threw Charlie in the lake. Lola's brows tied.
"The fuck's this?!" Jungkook, having let go of Namjoon, turned to Lola with his nostrils flaring, he held his phone in front of her face, and on the screen-
a picture of her and Namjoon hugging at the park. It was taken from afar, from between buildings. Lola's heart raced. Something crawled up her spine and she didn't know what it was. A feeling between fear and angst. It was all she'd been feeling, lately. Her pupils shrunk with the way Jungkook looked at her. His eyes, that of disgust, stared back at her angrily.
It was a message from Penelope, and under the imagine: "Are you sure they're not together?" it said.
