idk what to title this one but read the a/n // gawsten

im really bad at titles but this is basically the curbside scene in g.b.f when tanner is walking home from the party drunk to see brent outside of his house also drunk and they start talking and giggling and idk its a really good and pure scene watch g.b.f it's very stereotypical but it's very funny. the dialogue in this is ripped from the script of g.b.f. so yeah. i wanted to write this anyway lets get fucked up. also i know awsten doesnt drink irl but like. i had to in order to make this scene work. forgive me god. also spoilers for this movie but yeah.

geoff was walking home from otto wood's party, stumbling over himself with every step he took. the only thing on his mind was how he treated awsten, and just how awful he felt about it. he knew he was wrong for telling mrs. knight about awsten's sexuality before awsten could muster up the courage to tell her. but, in the heat of the moment, geoff had blurted out and called awsten a faggot in front of his mother.

as he approaches his house, he sees a boy sitting on the curbside. he has his knees to his chest and looks out of it. it's awsten. geoff sees him and lets out a small laugh of, "oh, um..."

awsten looks up at geoff. his eyes are kind of sad but also kind of hopeful. awsten is in an open flannel shirt and a striped t-shirt, which don't match. geoff is in a button up shirt and suit jacket, which he's not sure completely why he wore it to a party. probably just to impress that british boy that tay had brought along.

geoff has his suit jacket over his shoulder as he looks down at awsten and says, "i... am... drunk."

awsten, perking his head up a little, says in a high pitched, joking voice, "me too."

geoff laughs at him and awsten returns the laugh, hunching over a little. geoff stumbles over to awsten and sits next to him. on the verge of bursting into laughter, geoff asks, "what are you doing in front of my house?"

awsten turns his head to geoff and replies, "i have no clue." geoff snorts out a laugh as awsten continues, "since i basically have no friends left, my mom decided to have a queer-movie marathon. but, when we got to heath and jake grunting in a tent, i started drinking heavily."

geoff bursts out laughing and leans forward, pressing his suit jacket against his chest and his legs. awsten laughs and, in a bit of embarrassment, rubs his eyes with his hand.

geoff lolls his head to one side, and asks, "you walked all the way over here?"

"mmhm." awsten replies, his head in his hand. geoff laughs at him. "i had this idea that i'd make this grand entrance at the party and make this huge scene. but this is as far as i got. oops."

geoff chuckles at him and mutters, "i see."

"yeah."

awsten, in a way that geoff kind of can't tell if he's joking or genuinely pissed off, jerks his head to look at geoff, "it's not fair! you get to be belle of the ball and i'm stuck home with mommy dearest."

geoff turns and looks at awsten, leaning slightly towards him. his voice is slurred and tired as he replies, "i'd trade places with you in a second!"

"just...just do me a favor." awsten asks.

"hmm?"

"when you win prom king, you'll make a big speech," awsten gestures with his hands as he speaks, "about, you know, everything you've learned. you know, very lohan."

geoff stifles a laugh as he replies, "not really my style, but... we'll see."

awsten leans to his side a bit and bumps shoulders with geoff. it's very 'no homo' in tension but also has little to no meaning other than him being very drunk. geoff, looking at awsten, bursts into laughter. awsten looks at him in concern as geoff nearly falls backwards. "sorry," he says, "still picturing you watching brokeback with your mom."

"it's not funny!" awsten says. geoff continues laughing at him as awsten continues, "i'm gonna have to emancipate or something. she's driving me crazy."

geoff lets out a sigh, "she's just being supportive." the two sit in comfortable silence for a second before geoff continues, "maybe everyone secretly wants a g.b.f., even moms."

awsten moves his legs so that his knees keep touching before replying, "right now i would just settle for like, a b.f."

geoff looks over at him and gives a lazy, drunken half smile and asks in a tone that awsten can't tell if he's too drunk or mocking him, "you mean like a best friend or like, a boyfriend?"

"...either/or," awsten replies as geoff stares at him lovingly. awsten looks down at the pavement, "or both."

the smaller boy looks up and meets geoff's eyes, which are gazing at his face. the two sit, not really knowing if the either should make a move or not. geoff leans in to make the first move, and awsten looks at him, leaning towards him.

geoff shuts his eyes and captures awsten's lips between his. the two sit on the curb, sharing a gentle and passionate kiss under the stars. just earlier this week the two swore that they hated each other, but look at them now.
