STAND (25)
~NOTHING IN MY RIBCAGE~
•One month later•
"Damian? What are you doing here?" Asks Valarie opening the door to her house.
"I uh...I went by the hotel and they said you weren't there. I could only assume that you moved back into your place."
"Yeah." She nods, stepping aside allowing him inside. "I just got back a couple hours ago. I am so sorry my stay extended. I'll stay late every day and do all the paperwork until we are-"
"No, it's fine. I'm glad you're back." He stated a small grin spreading to his lips.
She stood in the doorway begging with her eyes to wrap her arms around him. Hold his hand...but the things her hands had touched not just a week ago. Valarie was still surprised blood didn't stain.
"I would have emailed you, but where I was going had no internet. Which reminds me, I have to check my phone."
"Wait!" Damian says grabbing onto her arm and she froze. Her arms instinctively touched his chest and didn't move. Damian held the small of her back. "I really want to look at you." He breathed and a storm of goosebumps trailed down her back.
"You're looking at me." She whispers with a little laugh. "Its getting really intense and...I don't know if it-"
"There is a message I left you on your phone. I was hanging out with Raven and we got drunk. I said some things and I don't want you to listen to it if you aren't ready."
"You got drunk." She repeats as if it was unbelievable.
"It goes against everything you wanted and I don't want to confuse you." he admits brushing back a strand of her curls. "A break is a break. I don't want to take that choice from you." He told her truthfully...
"You got drunk with Raven and sent me a voicemail." She nods, backing away a bit. "If we are going to admit things then, you're right. The break was for me and I still think about that. While I was away, I had time to reflect and I realized that you are everything I need. I've been to hell and now that I'm back, I like us. Me and you." Her cheeks began to heat up.
"What are you saying?" He asks, can't help but getting excited. Damian feels her near his lips as she continues to speak.
"I'm the one who needed saving." She whispers "I'm gonna let you save me, Damian."
"I haven't the slightest clue what the hell you're talking about, but I gotta ask," he said making her meet his eyes by lifting her chin. "Woman, can I kiss you now?"
Valarie only laughed and stood on the tips of her toes, meeting his flower petal lips. Damian had his hand wrapped around her back, hand firmly against her shirt.
He felt the urge to protect her more now than ever. Damian wasn't just after her anymore. At this moment, he wanted her to be by his side. If she was going to let Damian take care of her, protect her then he would.
He was feeling all her desire in their kiss. Her desires more complex than his, but one thing was for sure with both of them. Valarie and Damian missed each other. The warmth of his lips gliding across hers gave them both a fuzzy feeling in their gut. Pulling back for a brief moment, to grab some air, then going to greet each others lips once again.
Valarie's pulled her lips off his. If this was going to keep going, she had no intention on stopping. "We are so complicated." She giggles, as he placed tiny kisses on her face, then bringing her in for a tight embrace.
The embrace she longed to be in, it made the fear of blood staining her hands disappear.
"I know." He mumbles into her hair continuing to kiss whatever he could. "We both live complicated lives."
"Stay?" Asks Valarie inhaling his scent, trying to remember all of him.
"What?"
"Just for a little while longer?"
"I'll do you one better. I'll stay the whole night. Just you and I on the couch." He suggested, cupping her face with both hands. "Yeah?" He asked kissing her forehead
"That sounds way better." She agreed

∆DAMIAN POV∆
We were relaxed on the couch. Her back against me as she sat between my legs. I was inhaling the scent of her hair as we talked. Smelled like coconut vanilla all together.
Like a very expensive candle.
It's different. Very odd how we can sit like this. As if their isn't anything to worry about. Those movies where the montage is the guy and girl laying around, just holding each other.
It feels like that, but better. Better because I'm not acting. This feeling isn't for show. It's real and just my hands holding hers is enough. Hardly listening to a word she is speaking, because I'm looking at her with such admiration. The fact that Valarie Ellington, my angel, can stand the sight of me, makes heart beat with joy.
Placing one of many kisses in her hair, she continues to talk.
"So, drinking with Raven?" She asked me, running her fingers up and down my arm hairs.
"It was a rough night." I admitted as she looks up at me. "Why do you sound so surprised?"
"You don't get drunk. I mean, since I've met you. I think its been nine or ten months since I met you, right?" She asked with a giggle
"It would appear so." I nod "Thanksgiving is next month also."
"I haven't celebrated Thanksgiving." Valarie admits. "It just felt...I don't know. I think its strange without my family."
"Luckily you're celebrating it with my family this year."
"Are you asking?"
"No." I shake my head, raising her hand so I can kiss her smooth knuckles. "I'm telling you."
Valarie sits up and climbs into my lap, so that we are face to face. Our noses touch and I can only chuckle at how weirdly sweet she is being. "I like the sound of that."
"Mm." I mutter, acknowledging what she said. "I'm so glad you're back." I tell her as her fingers slide through my hair. "So so glad."
"So am I. And its just me now."
"Right." I say "Roman?"
"Gone. I didn't need him anymore." She answers back, laying on my chest.
JUST A LITTLE FLUFF! 💓
