Chapter 1 - Cadence's Reawakening

Leia's POV (15/09/2012)

I felt so euphoric. My good friend Edward Levaincois invited me to attend this extravagant party. It wasn't just any ordinary party. It was a very famous party in that only the famous and royals were allowed to participate. However, nobles from far and wide were invited to attend the ball. It was the Annual Autumn ball.

"Leia, you need to get ready. Prince Edward will be arriving in an hour. Hurry up!" My dad said as I left and quickly went to get the dress Edward got me for this occasion. It was a red ballgown with roses along the neckline. He told me that it was at Nobel Michel Castle and it was a formal ball. Thank goodness, I made myself look more presentable for today. I thought as I did my hair into an updo. I put a fancy clip into my hair, and the doorbell rang. My mother answered the door.

"Ah, Edward and Louis. Leia is doing her hair and makeup. Leia, are you ready yet?" She came into my room and looked at me. "Aww, aren't you pretty? That dress looks gorgeous on you."

"Thank you, mum." I smiled at her as I saw Edward and Louis walk in. Edward's purple eyes looked at me kindly.

"You look like a rose tonight," Edward told me, as I blushed as Louis looked at me. He combed his black hair with his hands to hide his embarrassment. I have a crush on Louis, which was a bit embarrassing. I quickly headed to the front door. My parents promptly came to the front door to say farewell.

"Have a nice time, Leia. Dance the night away." My mother said to me as Edward led me out of the door. I felt grateful to my parents, who weren't even blood-related to me. They were my adoptive parents. From what I knew, my birth parents died before I was a year old. I never told Prince Edward or Louis about my family, as my mother looked like me. It was an uncanny resemblance I had with my adoptive mother.

"I will, mum. See you later!" I yelled back as my parents waved me off. Louis led me to a long, black limo, and I got in. Edward and Louis followed suit, and Louis sat next to me. "I feel excited as I have never been to Nobel Michel castle. Sorry if I look giddy." I apologised as Louis chuckled, and his blue eyes smiled at me. I brought a massive bag of items I might need as this would be my first time going out alone. My dad was strict with me going out, but I knew it was for protective reasons.

"I never expected you to get quite excited. You're usually calm, but not the story tonight." Louis laughed, and I giggled. Edward couldn't contain his amusement and laughed along with us. I remembered the first time I met Edward. I asked about Edward's silver-coloured hair, which is not a usual colour, and I wondered if he dyed it. He said that isn't the case, but seeing him laughing reminded me how funny he found my question back then.

"It's all right, my petal. I wouldn't have been surprised." Edward said with a smile. "It's time for us to repay you for keeping my secret anyway. Oh, I see Nobel Michel now. Right in the distance." Edward pointed to an enormous white castle in front of the limo. Its green rooftops were lit by the lights that shone onto the castle. I gasped with wonder. This is the castle I will rule over someday, and I silently thought to myself as I remembered my parents telling me that a terrorist group known as the Green Sharks was after me. I felt anxious thinking about it. It was over a year ago when they told me this information.

When we arrived, I was greeted by the butler for Nobel Michel. He had black hair parted to the left and emerald-coloured eyes, and I was drawn to them. "Hello, your Highness Prince Edward and Louis. Who is your guest with you tonight?" he asked.

"This is my friend, Leia, Zain," Edward told Zain. Zain bowed toward me. Prince Edward led me inside the castle with Zain and Louis in tow.

"Pleasure to meet you, Zain," I remembered to be polite to the butlers and use their names from Louis telling me about his work as a butler. "Miss Leia, may I have a word with you?"

"Sure, Zain. I'll be back in a moment, Prince Edward." I said to Prince Edward as Zain led me around a corner.

"You realise your other half will reveal herself at the ball tonight?" Zain enquired as I quickly checked to make sure no one was around. "Don't worry. I checked if people were around beforehand."

"I do understand. I bet you're wondering why I am even here." I told Zain as he smiled.

"Louis rang me last week and told me about their best friend, which happens to be you, that they were bringing as a guest to the ball. I couldn't believe I'd see you in person before your birthday next year." Zain recalled.

"Well... Prince Edward and Louis wanted to thank me for keeping their real identities secret. It was nothing. As someone hiding an identity myself, I'd look like a hypocrite if I revealed anything about them. Before you ask, they don't know who I am." I replied as Zain sighed in relief.

"I was about to ask. Anyway, I better let you get back to Prince Edward." Zain started to lead me back to the entrance. Edward was awaiting me. "Don't worry. I was getting to know your best friend better. Knowledge of food etc."

"I was wondering. You take your job seriously when you know the special guests are coming to the party tonight." Edward smiled as he started to lead me into the ballroom. The ballroom was massive, and many nobles in posh dresses and suits were already mingling with each other's company. I could hear the waltz music from the doorway. I spotted a group of people close to the entrance to the ballroom. It was Sirenloid. I was secretly a member of Sirenloid but wasn't in any of the performances tonight. Sirenloid is a famous pop group; even girls had crushes on the guys, and Miku greeted me at the door. Edward left me, so I joined my friends.

"Hey, Leia. You look great." Miku commented on my appearance. I twirled in front of her, and she smiled.

"Thanks, Miku. Edward got it for -" I got cut off by a loud voice. It sounded like someone was talking into a microphone.

"Ladies and Gentlemen. Please cast your eyes to the staircase as we celebrate the Annual Autumn ball. Here are the future kings of the 6sixkingdoms, and I will announce the future successor of Nobel Michel a bit later in the evening." So, the announcer said as the first Prince walked down the stairs. I recognised it as being Prince Edward.

"Prince Edward of Charles!" The announcer said as Edward smiled at the crowd. I smiled, knowing he was well-liked among the party guests.

"Prince Keith of Liberty!" A brunette and cold-faced Prince with a furry coat walked down. He looked scary from my view, but his green eyes looked hypnotising.

"Prince Wilfred of Philip!" A blonde-haired prince walked down. I remember Edward telling me he is more of an introverted prince. His blue eyes smiled towards the crowd.

"Prince Roberto of Altaria!" A cheerful, brown-eyed Prince walked down the stairs. Edward told me he loved giving the other princes nicknames. He told me his nickname was 'Ed'. His brunette-coloured hair danced as Prince Roberto finished walking down. He smiled happily at all of the attendees.

"Prince Joshua of Dres Van!" A uniquely purple-haired prince walked down. I remembered that his country has many laws, as I had read in the papers. His purple eyes looked slightly annoyed, but he seemed to have kept it under a mask from my view. I could tell how people can show and hide emotions.

"And finally, Prince Glenn of Oriens!" The last Prince walked down. His light brown hair made him look more youthful than the other princes, but his brown eyes looked bored. After introducing the six princes, I started to head to the buffet table. As I was going to go to the table, I saw something appear out of thin air. It was a girl who looked about my age. She floated in a ball shape over the guests. Everyone stopped what there were doing to watch. She had black hair with red highlights. Her checked grey-black dress suited her long black boots and black leather jacket she wore. She had red eyes and two pointy teeth, which I could distinguish from her face.

"Can I have your attention, please? The successor of Nobel Michel, Cadence Nobel!" The announcer said as she started to speak in a low tone. Then, she began to uncurl herself out of a ball and float upright. Her long, flowing hair danced as she stood in the air.

"Hello, royals, nobles, and humans... As you all know, I am being hunted down. My human form is in this room; she'd better watch out for the terrorists after her. I will be hiding in my human form from now on. You know who you are," Cadence announced to the guests at the party. I didn't dare say a word about it as it is dangerous to tell anyone, even those I trust. But I knew it was me she was talking about in her speech. "As everyone might have noticed, I happen to be a vampire," Cadence said, revealing her wings that are purple on the inside and black on the outside. They are bat-like wings. "This means I have capabilities that no human can do. I will go now, but I will be hiding. Until next time." Cadence vanished, and I saw her enter me invisibly. The other guests didn't notice anything happening to me. I continued to head to the food table for a bite to eat. I was going to see Louis, and I saw him at the food table. That was until...

"Would you like to dance?" A voice from behind me asked. I turned around and saw Prince Keith behind me. I was pretty scared of him, seeing him in front of me. "I saw you walk in with Prince Edward and thought I would ask you since you must be of a noble family." I started to feel apprehensive about this.

"I'm sorry, but I have to decline," I told him as he started to look annoyed at my response. "I can't dance; I'll make you look silly in front of everyone here. I'm sorry, your Highness."

"Look, just give me your hand." He told me in a forceful tone. I looked around to find Louis or Edward, but Louis was talking to a ginger-haired man. Edward was talking to Prince Joshua and Prince Glenn. Then, suddenly, I felt my hand pulled by a strong force that dragged me into the middle of the ballroom. Wha...

"Just follow my lead." Prince Keith said, and we started to dance. I tried to remember the dance lessons with Edward and managed not to stand on Prince Keith's foot. Edward sometimes brought me to his castle and taught me how to do the waltz. "You are not bad for a first-timer at this party." Prince Keith encouraged me. Well, he'll never know I learned from a prince...

When the waltz music ended, I curtsied to Prince Keith, who bowed. "That was a lovely dance." Then the noble fangirls appeared around Prince Keith. I tried to get out of the circle but was pushed into Prince Keith, accidentally embracing him. Everyone in the ballroom gasped, and everyone was glaring at me...
