Chapter 4
Sir Cacao Point of view
Dear Sir Cacao,
That feeling though...
I've been tired these days and the only thing the cools my mind was your podcasts. I know you are doing well and hope you do much better every coming day.
This person is always tired. God knows what she does that she always says she was tired. But it was fortunate for her that several of my podcasts are up in an app and she listens to them.
It was lucky that she found those treasures; or else, what would have happened to her without me?
The other day I was watching one of your live videos and thought that you were more handsome than the previous time I saw which was half an hour ago in another video.
No suspense at all!
Now coming to the ritual of our exchange; in my last letter when I asked you about your favorite type of pet, I waited for whole two days for your next video for you reveal the answer. I was so happy to know that you love to raise honey bees. If you like them so much, why are you not raising them?
I wanted to actually, but when dad heard that I love to have honey bees around me, he spanked my butt with whatever he got his hands on.
I was ten at that time.
And I had been begging him for honey bees for three years already.
Now, in my house and any of my relatives' houses, honey bees is a taboo word that can cause sky to fall down on our heads if spoken even accidentally.
So a few years ago, I bought a piece of land in the same locality my whole family is living in and got house of my own built.
The house was built in such a way that the lawn can have at least four greenhouses with bee yard where I can rear honey bees without any problem.
I successfully and secretly of course, bought a hive of nearly three thousand bees with a queen.
What is the most important thing that a pet should have?
A name!
So I bought nearly twenty five to thirty baby naming books to name each of them. Although all the bees look the same, the fact that they too have a name will push them into liking their owner even more and spend their loyalty on me.
Although it took me several days, although I had to try several methods to give each of them a name and not to give one bee more than one name; it was worth the effort.
The next day when all of them were named, after their welcome ceremony, I released them into greenhouses for pollination.
However, fate took a crooked turn and an accident happened. It was the family of Queen Bee fourth cousin or so, a few of them went missing.
A couple of hours later, I was still searching for them when my eldest female cousin along with my grandma, mom and dad, stormed into my house like their butt was straightened up by a rocket.
I was not even given the chance to ask what happened when a few licensed bee raiser came in and with a nod from my family, he took away all my bees.
Apparently the missing cousin bees went into my eldest female cousin's garden and one of them stung her child. Seeing so many bees suddenly, it only took them twenty minutes of investigation to know who those bees belong to.
My bees were taken away was one thing but my dear little nephew got stung and cried for a whole day until he slept away in exhaustion.
That day, my cousin beat me to pulp, my dad spanked me too, my grandma only sighed feeling sorry but I still don't know for whom she was feeling sorry for.
It was from that day, the word honey bees was on the top of taboo list. Even thinking about it in mind is punishable with spanking.
Spanking is my dad's favorite sport.
Getting back to the letter from my dearest Choco Drizzle who rains me with love always, I don't know how to tell her this story in my next video.
I mean, as much as people love the whole me, it is still embarrassing to tell them that I was beaten and spanked red by my family for secretly raising bees.
Even though people find me exceptionally adorable, it is still an embarrassment to me.
But then again, I have always shared and answer her truthfully. What should I do now?
Since there is still time to record my next video, I need to come up with an idea that will successfully answer her question and not make it embarrassing.
Hmm, think Cacao; think.
The spent the whole night thinking of a way to answer Choco Drizzle in the most non-embarrassing way that I hardly had any sleep.
It was early in the morning that I felt sleep covering my senses when my eldest aunt woke me up and asked me to go to market with her to buy daily groceries.
Many of cousins have already left to work before sun rose so she came to me to take along. But in reality, nine out of ten times, she always prefers me to go with her because I am a fun person and will not get her bored all though the shopping time.
"Aunty Owl, where is the first stop?" I put on the seat belt and waited for her to put it on before I start the car.
"How many times should I tell you not to call me that? I am Aunt Bella for you. Let's go to old market first and then to a convenience store." She grumbled and put on the seat belt but there was still a small smile on her lips.
"But I never saw you sleep from the time I was born. Even other cousins told me you never sleep. Aren't you an owl then?" Through the almost empty roads, I drove freely, enjoying the early morning breeze from opened window.
Aunt Owl is always the first customer for the day in the old market so she gets all the freshest goods at unbelievable discounts.
We soon came to the old market when it was still dark. According to the app, the sun rise will be in fifteen minutes but as usual, the vendors are already setting their stalls and goods.
"Mrs. Almond, Cacao boy, come on. The seafood is fresh out of sea, see what you want." I was soon forgotten when Aunt Owl's eyes zeroed on the fresh seafood swimming lively in water.
"Are you craving any of them these days?" Aunt asked me pointing to the display of hundreds of sea creatures.
"Then make your special sea urchins dish for lunch. It's been a long time I had them." I grinned happily at my Aunt as she nodded in agreement.
She then bought sea urchins, a few kinds of fish to give them to my mom and other aunts. Aunt Owl loves to do groceries shopping to the level of insanity.
So, she buys all the daily groceries for all the Almond houses every day. Since we Almonds are united and one big family, we still live in several houses side by side for convenience purpose.
Still, each other elder women have their own interests; like Aunt Owl buys groceries for every house, my mom does the gardening and make decisions on the plants to be grown in every garden. Most of the blankets, curtains, bed sheets etc are stitched personally by second aunt.
Like that every other aunt and uncles have their own responsibilities for the whole family.
We soon finished shopping in the market and then proceeded to the largest convenience store which is an hour drive from the market.
Since it's still early in the morning, there is no traffic thankfully so we got to the store in just forty minutes.
Walking into the store, I immediately and ritually went to where fresh breads are displayed. Going through the variety of the breads and croissants, I picked several of them for myself, my cousins, siblings, nieces and nephews.
After getting the baked products packed accordingly, I strolled through the junk food lane to find something interesting and tasty.
After picking lots of junk food that can last a lifetime for any other person, it only lasts for two to three days in my family; I went to see if my aunt is done with her shopping.
Since I saw that she still has many to buy from the list, I turned around and walked to the section where fresh flowers and vases are sold.
Looking at the different types of flowers and breathing in their refreshing scents, I decided to buy a few bouquets for the ladies of the family. They love flowers, especially my youngest aunt.
I bent down a little and was instructing the person on picking the flowers while I saw Freesia flowers.
There was particular Freesia type where the flower petals are part lavender and partly cream and it was beautiful.
I was about to pick it up when another hand touched mine which was also picking the same flower that I was.
I slowly looked to the side to see whose that beautiful hand was and at the same time the other person to turned to see me.
For a moment, time stopped and both of us fell in a kind of trance.
Scents of flowers formed into one whole unit and pushed me and the other person towards each other.
Butterflies that were busy flying around flowers flew around us in parade creating a beautiful fantasy world around us.
