Chapter 15
Sir Cacao Point of View
From the corner of my eyes I felt her move around like a feather. Whenever she was even nearly four or five steps away from me, my hand goes to touch my lips as if it has its own mind.
The kiss!
It was only an hour ago when these wormhole like lips of mine fell on her gravitational ones.
It was merely a peck.
A peck that squeezed my heart pleasurably.
I don't know what she felt but that peck caused a lightening sensation in me. Electricity coursed through my body almost burning me alive.
If I wasn't a cool man, I would've burned in heat.
However, Anete was sure acting a little awkward but she was otherwise fine at the looks of her. That was confusing me also because how the hell can she be fine?
Is there no lightening in her body?
Didn't her heart thunder like she was under a storm?
She shouldn't have felt those otherwise but there is an obvious reason to feel amazing this time because she had the luck to touch my lips with hers.
I mean, what merit exactly she did in this lifetime or in her previous ones to be able to gain a peck from me; on her lips at that.
"Is everything set? The photoshoot take admirable amount of time so let's get started soon." Mom rushed everyone after the new parents and my new nephews are well greeted with hugs, kisses and gifts.
The two little ones, although new to all this, are extremely happy with the attention they are getting. Caramel's son was nearly five so it was much tougher to get his attention than the month old boy beside him.
The older the people get, the tougher they get.
"Where is the professional photographer again?" My second aunt asked looking at everyone, expecting a reply from anyone.
Since others are busy I told her that the photographer is already here and has been waiting for us. Everyone soon scurried to the backyard where the arrangements for photoshoot was done.
"Alright, we will start off with group picture and then continue with the random ones." The photographer, Zoel, who was my cousin Cream's friend, said.
Looking at the long line of well organized chairs, the elders all took their seats with grandma in the middle and her sons and daughter-in-laws on either side of her.
The third generation, which is my generation, stood behind the elders in three rows. We are just so many of us to fit in one single row.
Then comes the fourth generation, my nieces and nephews; the younger one among them were sitting on my parents and uncle-aunts lap while a little older ones sat on their chairs arm.
"No, you have to take a picture without us. This is a family picture." Ilaria refused but with rightful compulsion from rightful people, the Allards joined in the family picture.
And it so happened, Anete happened to stand right next to me, her arm touching mine and her minty breath felt close to my skin.
Why the hell am I feeling so affected?
Okay, I know what these affects are but this should not happen. I have a crush on Choco Drizzle.
It was usually her letters that make me excited and breathless, how come this woman make me feel weird kind of bloated before and after that peck?
Before the peck, I felt shivers whenever I look at her or whenever she was somewhere near me. My eyes went on an illegal mission of finding her even without me knowing.
After the peck, even my unwanted hair turned into eyes and looked at her wherever she went like how sunflower would respond to sun.
Although, I don't have much of any unwanted hair, there is still a strand or two here and there that I might've missed from the last shave.
Feeling her beside me, I cleared my throat and looked at her at the same time she turned to look at me. Our eyes met and neither of us took the chance to look away first.
"I think –"She muttered trying to keep her voice as low as possible.
Seeing her eyes flutter rapidly, I asked, "You should eat a lot of greens. You lack magnesium." I studied the blinking of her eyes seriously and nodded my head in confirmation that it was not the result of blushing or flirting but it was clearly deficiency.
"Hmm?" That shocked her.
Of course it did. The last time she had lunch with us, I observed her removing greens from her plate. I though she didn't like to eat that day but looking at her now, she clearly did not have a green color in her appetite.
"You blink a lot." I shrugged, not paying my attention to the debate of who should stand in the third row and who on the second going on between everyone.
I chose first row and stood right behind my second uncle so no one chose to steal my place. My second uncle can be a nagger every now and then which happens to be every second. Only I can handle him because I am immune to his nagging.
"Are you, perhaps, worried about me, Sir Cacao?" She asked teasingly but when I answered her with a firm and serious nod, all amusement on her face walked away from the aisle.
"I think I'm starting to have more-than-friends feelings for you." Being a Cupid, one of the things that I know for sure is that for good or bad, telling what you feel clearly will break down many problems.
And this is not just the law between couples; it applies to any kind of relation.
"After the accidental peck?" She asked blinking rapidly again.
"Not really." I shrugged and looked around to see if anyone is listening to us. "I just realized it after the peck."
"Why suddenly?"
"I don't know. It just happened I don't know when it started. I need to sit and jot down everything to track back the starting point of my feelings."
"I thought you have a crush on your pen friend – someone called Drizzle?" She asked softly, showing no emotions on her face.
"I do. For the first time in years, out of millions of female population I met, you seemed to be the one to overpower it." Heck, even I'm confused why and how she broke my deep attachment for my pen friend.
"Why do you think that is?"
"No idea."
"So –" She started to say something but Zoel clapped his hands to gain our attention.
"Alright people, lift your head up by two inches and smile wide." He said loudly and took series of photos
Then came random pictures with nuclear units, single shots and some cluster shots. We cousins took several pictures, then a few with their better halves later we took some funny pictures.
Kids had a blast with having as many pictures as they want taken.
On popular demand, I and Anete took pictures together and so does Tiny-Zorion and Ilaria-Devon; although Devon and Zorion are against it.
Almond girls can be persuasive I know that but Ilaria can really bend Devon to will is a first.
Well done!
Thankfully the shoot was after lunch or else, they would've turned into funeral pictures for some of us.
This particular shoot took nearly six hours. We are exhausted but Zoel, who has been clinking pictures on his feet the whole afternoon has become a hybrid between Zombie and Ghoul.
He scared the hell out of me. I will surely suffer a week of nightmares.
I secretly took his picture and decided to use it when I have to scare someone in future.
But poor boy, he will never accept a project from us again.
The day went by smoothly however chaotic it was. Soon it was dinner time and after good compulsion from everyone, the Allards' stayed for dinner.
When we were busy taking pictures, mom, aunts and even male elders joined hands to make dinner. With everyone's help, they made twenty five dishes including dessert.
"Pass me the corn gravy, Cream." When Cream passed me the bowl, I served myself some and served some on Anete's plate who was sitting right beside me.
"This corn with gravy made of crab meat is out of world. You should try it." Beside the corn gravy I placed crispy bread and asked to eat it together.
"Thanks." I'm an expert for a reason because even though she was acting casually, I can see the blush on her face like moon in the sky.
It cooled my eyes.
I wanted to continue our talk from before but seeing how everyone was sitting so close, I gave up on the idea.
However, I do know that I need to sort this out for myself before I approach her for further conversation.
I'm not afraid of her response because no one is immune enough to not love me. All I want to know was my budding feelings for her.
I need to sort out friendship from special connection so I can be fair with both of us. As practical as it may sound, without proper self assessment, these feelings usually turn for worse.
"Umm, So, Cacao, I need help from you and is possible from Anete too." My younger sister, the sixteenth one of us, Peach, spoke hesitantly with a cunning smile on her face.
Uh huh, whenever she asks for help, it means she is unlocking the gates of hell for us.
"No." I said with finality for both myself and Anete. Turning to Anete who was about to talk I held her hand in a gentle grasp;
"Trust me, you don't want to do this."
