Ch. 2: Meeting Billie
You leave the coffee shop and you walk back home. Your house isn't too far from the coffee shop anyways and the espresso you had was good. You walk down the sidewalk and you look to see three teenage goat kids talking. One of them seems to stand out. The one without the glasses on. She has a bell around her neck. You walk down and they see you.
The female with the glasses is Lily. The boy, also with glasses is Lou and the one without the glasses is Billie. Lou's the only boy of the friends. All are goats. Lily sees you and says, "Wow. Who's the (favorite animal) lady? She's so pretty." Lou smiles and says, "Yeah she is." Billie says, "Who knows? I haven't seen her here, before."
Lily says, "Just be careful, Billie. You know how everyone else here is with you. Your reputation." You stop as you hear this and you look back. You look directly at the girl who is Billie. Billie says, "Yeah yeah. I know. But come on. I have my reasons. My dad's dead and it's just me and my mom." You hear that line and you whisper, "Her too?" You look away and you sigh.
You stop as you get a notification on your phone and you look at it. Billie looks at you. Lou says, "What is it, Billie?" Billie says, "I don't know. Something about that woman makes me think... she may not be any different from myself." Lily says, "We should meet her." Billie says, "I will. You two wait here." Billie looks over at you. Lou says, "Let us know how she is." Billie nods and she approaches you.
As you look at your phone you hear this, "Hi." You look over and you see that one of the teen goats had approached you. The female one without the glasses, has a bell around her neck, she's white and purple in color, one eye with a purple spot around it, little horns on her head, long ears, short purple hair, etc.
You smile and you say, "Hey." She says, "Hi. I've seen everyone here in town. They know of me. But I haven't seen YOU, yet." You say, "Oh, that? Right. I just moved here three days ago, hon." She says, "Oh. Makes sense. Where are you from?" You say, "Cat Scales. I left from there. Reasons."
She says, "Well, hey. Welcome to Goatshire." You smile and you say, "Thanks... I'm (Y/N) (L/N)." She holds her hand out saying, "I'm Billie. Billie Goat." You take her hand and you shake hands. You say, "It's a pleasure, girlie." You move your hand away. You say, "It's nice to finally meet somebody since I've moved here. I'm in the process of finding a job."
She asks, "How old are you?" You say, "I'm twenty-four. Hmm..." You look at her and you say, "You yourself can't be more than twenty years of age." She says, "I'm fifteen. I'll be sixteen later this year." You say, "You're eight years younger than I am."
She says, "I live with just my mom. My dad died." You say, "So did mine. It was me and my mom as well." She says, "Wow. You too, huh?" You nod and you say, "I do miss him badly, though. His name was James." She says, "My dad was Arthur."
You realize something about Billie. She has quite a bit in common with you, already. You say, "Say, Billie. I know you just met me and we're not too acquainted yet. But if you want, you can come to my house. I live on Sherbert Lane."
She gasps and says, "I live on that lane, too!" You smile and you say, "Oh, neat. I'm house 133." She says, "You're only two houses down from me and my mom then. I'm house 137." You say, "Come visit me anytime. You and your mom. I respect widowed moms like my own."
She holds her hand out and says, "It's a deal." You take her hand and you shake hands. You smile and you say, "I look forward to meeting your mom, as well." You move your hand away. You say, "My own mom is supposed to move here to Goatshire in a couple of weeks. It'll take her a while to get her things boxed up and ready to come here."
Billie says, "Right. I gotcha. My mom and I have moved more than five times." You say, "Me too. But this time, I'm over eighteen and I'm out on my own. I've moved at least six hundred miles away. Again... good reason" She says, "If you did anything stupid then so did I. I'm not the most liked individual here." You say, "Neither was I back in Cat Scales. I'll explain it to you some other time."
She says, "It was nice meeting you, (Y/N)." You smile and you say, "You too, Billie. I'll see you later." You walk off. Billie gets back to her friends. You say, "Good. I met somebody. I'm no stranger after all, now." You continue walking home.
You get back and you head inside your house. You shut the door behind you. You sigh and you say, "That girl already reminds me of myself. There's got to be something more interesting lurking by. Maybe a secret passage somewhere a little out of Goatshire. I'll check it out, later."
You walk to your couch and you sit down. You pick up your remote and you turn the TV on. It's the YouTube channel. You watch some YouTubers react to horror games and you laugh. You say, "Man, I love shit like this."
After looking that up, you sit down on your floor and you get on your laptop. You get on google to see if you find anything interesting. You stumble upon a manor. It looked to be haunted, judging by the atmosphere and the green sky. You say, "Oh cool. Where's this at?" You read more about it and you say, "Who's Barnaby?" You read more about this Barnaby guy.
You say, "Well, damn. He died at the age of twenty-five? And from his own magic act? Bummer." You read more and you say, "It's foretold that he had never left, however. He resides in the manor as a ghost."
You sit back and you say, "I'd like to see this for myself. See if this Barnaby guy really is a ghost haunting that place." You sit back upon your couch and you continue watching YouTubers play games.
