Chapter 2

Zak POV

Another man- or should I say, teen walked into the room holding handcuffs.  He looked to be about 17, my age. He had light brown hair and green eyes. He walked past me, not making eye contact. "Here Dave," He said, holding out the chains to the other man.

"Thank you, Darryl." Dave told him, "You may leave now."

The boy- Darryl, turned to leave but before he did, he glanced at me. Our eyes locked for a second. As I looked into his piercing green eyes, I realized, he looked guilty.

After a second he looked away and walked away, not saying anything.

This is good though. If he feels guilty, I could use that to my advantage and he could help me escape. I felt someone grab my arm. I turned and saw Dave, I had forgotten he was there.

"Don't try anything, Zak, or you'll regret it."

*woosh*

After that he put the chains around my arms and legs. He chained me to a pole and left silently. I knew they weren't stupid enough to leave me alone, so I waited for another guard to come in.

After a couple of minutes I heard footsteps. I saw the boy from before, Darryl. As he walked in he kept his eyes cast on the ground. He leaned on the wall and just sat there not saying anything.

"Hey, I'm Zak." I said. I knew that if we got off on the wrong foot my plan could completely backfire, so I tried to be friendly.

"I already know that." He replied, rolling his eyes. "Oh yeah, of course you do." I said, awkwardly.

Darryl and I sat in silence for who know how long. Darryl was now sitting on the floor, staring at his phone. Occasionally he would smile at something on his phone. Other times he would start typing. Sometimes he turned off his phone as just stared at the wall. Right now he was scrolling through something on his phone .

"How longs it been?" I asked. I thought he would ignore me, but to my surprise, he answered, "4 hours."

I groaned and my stomach growled. I hadn't eaten anything for what felt like ages. Suddenly I heard something skitter across the floor and hit my leg. It was granola bar.

He looked me in the eyes, "If you tell anyone about this, you'll regret it."

With that he looked back at his phone and didn't say a word. I smiled slightly, maybe my plan would work out.
