*Rin's POV*

I ran as fast as I could to catch that note. Luckily the breeze wasn't very strong so I caught up quickly and stepped on it keeping it in place. It was letter side up and the last letter was another 'e'. I looked back at Ian and Mia who both looked shocked, probably because I could run so fast. You kind of have to here or bad things will happen. I felt myself grin.

"I got it!" I cry as Mia claps and smiles and Ian cheers.

They started jogging towards but Ian paused with a mixed look of horror and confusion on his face. He pulled out his flash light and shined it at me and I had to put my hand just above my eyes to see. Mia also had paused with the same wide eyed look. At first I was confused but then I realized... They weren't looking at me, but behind me.

"R-Rin..." Mia started.

"Watch out!" Ian finished and as he did I felt a sharp blow hit me between the shoulder blades causing me to stagger foreword, but I was careful to drag the note along with me to keep from losing it.

I quickly scooped it up in my hand and crumpled it and turned around to face what punched me and I turn into another punch hitting me square in the nose. There was no sickening pop so it didn't break but stars danced across my vision and it hurt like a bitch. I fell back and landed hard on my back knocking the wind from my lungs and as I panted and gasped to catch my breath I stared up at who had punched and it was none other than my brother... Ren. Ren looked a lot like me with the same messy black hair only he had green eyes, mine were blue. He was also bigger and stronger than me that explains why the punches were so hard but me being smaller I was quicker... At least I was when I could see straight.

"Hello Rin. It's been awhile." He sneered.

I didn't answer. I looked down for two reasons. 1.) I couldn't see straight and 2.) I couldn't look at him. He had betrayed our family! Our little sister Rose! Me. He betrayed me. Brothers don't do that! They're suppose to look after each other, protect each other! Not be on the opposite sides! Anger, sadness and frustration bubbles up inside me and I felt my blood boil to the point where tears pricked my eyes but I wouldn't let it show. Deep down I knew that somewhere in there my real brother was in there, I would figure it out and I would fix it. ... I hope. I shakily stood up and I looked at Ren, I still had one burning question.

"Why? Why Ren?"

"Why what?" He smirked. "Why'd I choose slender?" He chuckled as the grin on his face widened.

"R-Rin!" Mia cries from behind.

I turn my head to look at them, they're both standing about ten meters away with worried looks on their faces. Ren stops laughing and goes quiet for a moment. I take a backwards step towards them.

"Where you going... Bro?"

"T-to beat Slender! To figure out how I can save you and Rose and mom and dad!"

Ren just throws his head back and laughs. "I don't need saving, and neither do they. But you might."

I don't know what happens next... But I know I black out.

*Ian's POV*

Rin's brother threw his head back and laughed causing goosebumps to crawl up my arms and Mia to shudder. Rin had already taken to blows, one in the back and the other in the nose causing him to fall back and knock all the air from his lungs. My mind raced with concern and confusion and only two thoughts raced in my head. Get Rin and Mia out of here and get the note. My thoughts were interrupted by a hushed voice.

"I don't need saving and neither do they. But you might."

I snapped out of my thoughts just as Ren gave Rin a hard kick in the stomach causing Rin to fly back and hit the ground much harder than the punch and was knocked out cold. At first Mia and I were frozen and shock but I snapped back to my senses as Ren pulled out a knife and ran at my unconscious friend. Reacting on instinct and instinct alone I ran at Ren, he was my size, a little bigger and he had a knife but this was life or death, can't exactly look at the advantages and disadvantages of this fight. Ren raised the knife ready to plunge it into his brother when I saw my chance and grabbed his wrist and grappled with him for the knife. I twisted his wrist causing him to cry out and pain and drop the knife. I grabbed his other wrist and started pushing him away from Rin while Mia ran over to him and tried waking him up. I'd have to carry him probably but let's get rid of Ren here first. I looked back to Ren and I noticed he was chuckling and his green eyes were big.

"What's so funny?" I snapped.

"Your Ssundee... Or Ian right?"

I froze, he knew my name too. Maybe Slender mentioned it to him or something.

"Yeah," I reply. "Who cares?"

He just grins and with incredible strength I didn't think he was capable of he pushes me back sending me skidding back a few feet but I keep my balance as I stare dumbstruck at him.

"Slender has special plans for you Ssundee!" He cried.

"And I'll have special plans for you if you try attacking Rin again." I replied. "he's your own brother for crying out loud and he cares about you!" I don't know why I said I just did I have an older brother and what Ren was doing, it's not what brothers did, brothers look out for each other, watch each others backs, freaking get in trouble together! That's what brothers do.

Ren's grin fades for a moment and his eyes no longer seem crazed but they seem to soften. I stare at him and let my guard down. Had I gotten to him? Was there that little part of him that wasn't crazy? Or... Was he not crazy at all but perhaps under something. Ren blinked and again had the crazed look again.

"Just be ready Ssundee, you'll see what I mean real soon!" He said and turned and ran off in the other direction.

I stared after him for a moment wondering what he by Slender had special plans for me. Probably meant he would kill me in the worst way possible. Well not if we beat him first!

I go over to Mia and Rin. Rin's breath is about shallower than it should be and his nose was bleeding and bruising badly. I'm amazed it didn't break by that punch. Mia had him propped up and was holding a bandage under his nose so he doesn't accidentally inhale it. She looks up at me.

"You ok?" She asks.

"I'm fine, how's Rin?"

"Nothing's broken. thank goodness but he got drilled, we should head back to that little house he showed us to let him rest.

"Good plan."

I bend down by Rin and pick him up. He makes a small moan as I hoist him up over my shoulder.

"Rin?" I ask. "You ok?"

"Errrrr.... I-I got it." He says quietly.

"Huh? Got what-?" I'm about to ask as he places a piece of paper in my hand. The note. He got it and even managed to keep it in his hand threw all that. I smile.

"Nice job Rin. Get some rest, we're heading back to the little house. Mia and I will figure out the puzzle."

He gives a small nod and leans his head over my shoulder and closes his eyes. I hand Mia the last note and she un-crumples it and looks at the letter.

"E, it's the letter 'e'." She says.

So that means we have E, H, O, R, S, U, W, A, and E. Let's head back and figure out this puzzle."
