Part 8

NK arrived into RM for taking Khushi to Pagphere rasam. Raizadas welcomed him warmly. He gave the gifts he brought for Raizadas.

"What is the need for all this beta ?"asked Dadi. Ratna too said the same.

"No Dadi. This is one of the ritual and I can't neglect it" said NK.

"HHBB. Let me see what you have brought for us" said Manorama. NK gave each of them their gifts. He brought gifts for Akash and Arnav too but they were not present. So, he gave them to Anjali.

Manorama opened Akash's gift and looked at it.

"HHBB. Such a cheap watch for my son. Do you even know the cost of my son's watch he wears daily ?"mocked Manorama.

NK lowered down his head in shame while the Raizadas glared at Manorama.

"What!! Why are you all looking at me like that ? Did I said anything wrong ? He shouldn't have given the gifts if he doesn't want to. Why to insult us giving such a cheap gifts ? He should have atleast kept in mind our status while buying them"said Manorama.

"Stop it Manorama. If you don't want to accept them, it's ok." Said Ratna and took the gifts from Manorama.

"You can't even respect a guest Manorama" said Dadi.

Manorama left form there angrily to her room.

"NK beta. We are sorry for Manorama's words" said Dadi.

"It's ok Dadi. I am fine" said NK then thought, " Don't worry. I will take of her and her son very well soon."

Then, Khushi came running downstairs and hugged him.

"How are you Khushi ?"asked NK.

"I am fine Bhai" said Khushi crying.

"What happened ?Why are you crying ?"asked a panicked NK.

"Nothing. I missed you" said Khushi.

NK smiled and patted her forehead.

"Khushi Beta. Let's move for breakfast. Your sister prepared today breakfast" said Ratna.

NK looked at Khushi as if it is true. Khushi nodded her head as yes..

While going towards breakfast table, Khushi whispered to NK, "Don't worry Bhai. I didn't prepared breakfast. Anjali Di made the breakfast and I helped her. I only made Kheer but Di said I made everything. So, you can eat without hesitation"

NK smiled at his sister's words.

"Where is Arnav ?"asked NK startling everyone.

They all looked at each other not knowing what to say.

"Bhai. Arnavji got a call that a flyover collapsed and an accident happened there. So, he went there" said Khushi.

"When ?"asked NK surprised hearing it.

"Yesterday night" said Khushi casually.

NK didn't said anything and faked a smile at everyone.

After the breakfast, NK took Khushi to pagphere rasam to their house.

"Don't worry NK beta. Chote will definitely come to take Khushi in the evening" said Ratna.

"I hope he won't forget" said NK.

"No. That won't happen" assured Ratna.

NK and Khushi left for Lakshmi Nagar taking leave from Raizadas.

In Lakshmi Nagar:

Khushi entered the house and frowned seeing the state of the house.

"What is this Bhai ? It's looking like a garbage. You still didn't arrange neatly" said Khushi looking around the house where things fell here and there.

"Oho Madam. Your marriage just completed yesterday night. After sending you to your sasural, I was tired of the marriage preparations and I am alone. Do you expect me to clean the house in one night ? Do I look like a human robot to you?"almost freaked NK.

Khushi bit her tongue and said, "Sorry Bhai. You know I won't like house untidy"

NK raised his eyebrow, " See who is talking about tidiness. The one who is always clumsy"

Khushi looked at her NK with wide mouth, " Are you implying that I am an untidy person ?"

"Ofcourse many times, I have cleaned your room. You don't even know how to cook. It was good that I taught you atleast how to make Kheer." Said NK then continued, "Did Anjaliji scolded you for not knowing how to cook ?"

"No. She didn't. Anjaliji is a sweet person. She helped me in cooking." Said Khushi.

"It's good then" said NK, " Now. Help me to clean the house"

"What! Bhaiyya. I am a new bride. I shouldn't do work" said Khushi.

NK twisted her ear, " Don't give me this excuse. I know how lazy you are". He dragged Khushi with him to help.

In RM:

Arnav entered the house exhausted without a wink of sleep in the night. He looked in the hall where his mother and sister are looking at him with piercing eyes. Now what did he do ? thought Arnav. Shyam was also present there.

"Maa. What happened ?"asked Arnav.

"What happened seriously Chote." Anjali asked him astonished.

"Where did you went on yesterday night leaving Khushi Chote ?"asked Ratna.

Oops. He is in trouble thought Arnav.

"Mumma. Actually I got a call that .."Arnav is going to say something but Ratna cutoff him, " We saw that in the TV already"

"Chote. Are you the only official that you have to go ? You could have given the work to any of your subordinates" said Anjali.

"But Di. It was essential for me to go. Khushi doesn't have any problem in it. Where is she ? I will talk with her" said Arnav.

"She went to Lakshmi Nagar. NK took her for pagphere rasam" said Anjali.

"You have to bring her in the evening" said Ratna

"Oh..Ok..I will bring her" said Arnav.

"Will you or.."Anjali is going to say something but Shyam said "Anjali Stop it. Arnav didn't have slept whole night and let him rest atleast. Can't you see how tired he is ?"

Anjali stopped hearing it.

"You go and fresh up Chote. I will bring breakfast for you" said Ratna. Arnav left from there nodding his head.

Arnav entered his room and a fragrance of rose hit his nostrils. He looked around and felt an unknown feeling in his room. He smiled seeing the bed neat and cosmetics of Khushi on the dressing table.

In GH:

NK, with the help of Khushi cleaned the house and went into his room. He found Khushi crying holding a photograph. He placed his hand on her shoulder.

"Why did they all left us Bhai? First Mumma and Papa left us, then Mishti Didi and then Buaji."cried Khushi hugging the pic.

" I don't know. I want everything to go back and we will be happy again as before. But it won't happen" said NK wiping his own tears.

"Everyone left us" said NK, "Now, even you too left me by marrying"

"Who asked you to get me married ?" said Khushi crying with a pout.

" It was my duty to do my sister's marriage and I did it. Now, don't cry" said NK.

Khushi hugged NK crying who consoled her.

Khushi's mobile brought them out of their grief. She looked at the caller id and it was from Anjali. She lifted the call composing herself

"Haan Di." said Khushi lifting the call.

"Khushi beta. It's me" said Ratna.

"Haan Maa. I thought it was Di" said Khushi, "Did Arnavji return ?"

"Haan Beta. Chote returned an hour back and he is resting. He will come to pick up you by 4'o clock. Be ready." Said Ratna.

"OK Maa" said Khushi and disconnected the call.

"What did aunty say ?"asked NK.

"Arnavji will come and pick up me" said Khushi.

"Ok. Let's go and have lunch. I have prepared it" said NK. Both the siblings left for food

"Oh.. You don't know Mishti Didi naa. She is Buaji's daughter. She is three years younger to Bhai and two years elder to me. We three are always a gang. Bhai loves us both a lot" said Khushi smiling continued, " But five years back, Mishti Didi too died leaving us"

"How did she die ?"asked Arnav.
