Chapter 11
Hello there! Hope you had an amazing Halloween! Enjoy Chapter 11. OMGGGGGGGGGGGGG 470 VIEWS THANK YOUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mike's POV
I jinxed it. Seriously. The plane tilted at an awkward angle and sent us all tumbling. We held onto our seats for dear life. It tilted the other way, sending poor Zoe tumbling across. She clutched her shoulder in pain. I reached out for her and she graciously accepted my hand as I pulled her into a hug.
"Are you okay?" I asked. She winced in pain as she pulled free from the hug.
"I'm pretty sure I just dislocated my shoulder," she moaned.
The plane was almost upside down now. Jawa was trembling and Ben was worried, his face pale.
"Erica!" he yelled in the direction of the cockpit. "What's wrong?"
There was no reply. Ben's pale face paled even more. I was worried as well. I left Zoe with Jawa and made my way to Ben, who was heading towards the cockpit. His face was almost completely white. I wasn't sure if it was airsickness or worry for Erica not responding. He threw open the door and paled even more; I didn't know that you could go paler than white.
I was right behind him, and I caught a glimpse of Erica. She was unconscious and slumped over the controls. There was a huge purple bump on her forehead that had swollen to the size of a plum. Ben ran over to her side and picked her up in one swift move, paling even more. he cradled her in his arms and whispered something in her ears.
"I got the controls. You check on Erica," I said. Ben ran out of the cockpit with Erica in his arms. The pure white in his face had reduced, and his face had almost come back to its normal color.
I struggled to get the plane under control. I brought the plane back to a straight position, but there was no guarantee that it wouldn't crash.
"The plane won't land in the water!" I yelled to the others. "It will land somewhere in the jungle!"
There were murmurs, but I couldn't hear them over the rumble of the plane. It suddenly flew closer to the Hawaiian islands at a great speed.
"Brace yourself!" I heard Jawa scream. Then he ran over to me. "Mike, Erica's still unconscious and Zoe's shoulder is like an inflated balloon."
I started panicking. Too bad we were on a plane that was going to crash land somewhere in the rain forest. I braced myself too, fearing the worst. The plane landed with a sudden crash. My arms protected my head, but I tumbled around in the cockpit. The machine kept echoing 'mechanical failure' but it wasn't important to me. Everything was smoke, and I figured that the jet had broken due to the impact. I couldn't hear my own voice. My arms were still protectively wrapped around my head. I couldn't hear anything.
Then the world went black.
Ben's POV
Erica was the last thing that came to my mind before the plane crashed. I somehow lost my grip and Erica tumbled away from me. I wrapped my arms around my head and squeezed my eyes shut. Then there was a loud explosion as smoke clouded my vision. I waited for a minute before I reopened my eyes. There was debris on top of me. I found my way out of the pile of broken jet and took in my surroundings. All around me was wilderness.
No one was around me. I tried calling out to my friends, but there was no answer. So I pulled out my phone and dialed Erica's number, hoping that she had woken up. Thankfully, there was service out there. to my great relief, she answered.
"Erica!" I screamed, my voice shaking and eyes brimmed with tears. "Are you alright?"
"Hi, Ben." The voice was Zoe's. My face fell. "Erica and I sort of landed together. She's still unconscious, and no one's around. My shoulder's horrible and her breathing is unsteady."
I felt my heartbeat grow quicker and more panicked. I tried to breathe and responded. "Tracking your location now."
I realized that they were a couple of miles away. I calculated and realized that I would run 7 minutes per mile. I took a deep breath and turned in the direction of Zoe and Erica.
I ran.
I ran with all my strength. It took everything in me. I ran and ran, the red dot getting closer and closer to me. I ran all the way, stopping once in between to breathe. Finally I reached within a mile and in the distance I could see smoke in the sky. I knew that was Zoe and Erica, so I took a deep breath and ran the whole way. I reached them and saw Erica lying down. I figured Zoe had lifted her out. She was unconscious. I ran over to her.
"Erica," I breathed. I hugged her, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Zoe appeared behind me and smiled.
"Hi, Ben." I jumped up and hugged her tight. It felt amazing to see her after the long run.."
Zoe looked in Erica's direction. "What about her?"
"Is there ice?" I asked. She nodded.
"The cooler's right here, along with Mike's duffel bag," she said. I grabbed the ice pack and placed it on her forehead. Zoe pulled an ice pack for herself and gently pressed it to her shoulder. I noticed that it was horrible.
"Is your shoulder okay?" I asked.
"Yeah. It feels dislocated, though." Zoe's voice was pained.
"Oh. Ouch."
"Yeah. Can you help me with this?"
I took a deep breath. "This might hurt."
"I'm willing to take any chances."
I grabbed her shoulder. It was definitely out of place. I gently but firmly held it, then sharply yanked on it. Zoe shrieked in pain. Tears were pricking her eyes. After a couple of moments she smiled. The pained look on her face vanished and a very happy look replaced it.
"Whoa. That actually worked. I feel a million times better! Thank you!" she exclaimed happily.
"Yeah give it a while so the swelling can decrease."
She grinned, then strapped an ice pack to her shoulder.
I lifted the ice pack off of Erica's forehead and noticed that the purple had completely reduced and now there was just a bump on her forehead, but definitely smaller.
"I'm glad that she's feeling better," Zoe said to me. I nodded.
Erica stirred. We immediately directed our attention to her. She slowly opened her eyes, then stared at me.
"Ben?" she asked. I nodded.
"Erica how do you feel? Are you okay?" I asked, concerned.
She nodded. "My head hurts."
I told her everything about how the plane crashed and how she blacked out and how everything else had happened and how now we had no idea where Mike and Jawa were. the whole time she sat there sulking.
"It's all my fault. I was the one who blacked out and caused the plane to fail," she said, shaking her head. "It's all my fault."
"No, it's not your fault. There was a mechanical failure even before you blacked out. You know that, Erica," Zoe comfortingly said to her. That seemed to raise her spirits. She smiled.
"Are there any signs of civilization around?" she asked.
I shook my head. I couldn't really see anything. But there was cell service coming from somewhere; that's how it was on my phone.
"Somehow I had cell service. We don't know from where or why or how. But we are going to find out because we need to get out of here, and fast," I said, trying to sound convincing.
If only I was right.
ENJOY! Will probably update tomorrow or the day after. Got no school today so I could do this 😊😁
