NEXT DAY 0800 hours

BITS OF BACK-Up BASE

JANUARY 8th

Ben POV

I woke up. I looked around. The whole place was in bits. My arm and leg were broken, but somehow I was alive. The entire island was burned. I didn't know how I was alive. A police boat was coming out way. I hoped it wasn't SPYDER.

It wasn't. When they came, they saw me and led me to the boat. I felt nausea and pain. I soon fell asleep again.

I woke up in a hospital. I think the others had abandoned me. The nurse made a sigh of relief, as I was alive.

"What happened?" I said. "You were in a missile blast," The nurse said. A missile type thing blew up the island, and we found you."

I then remembered. I curled up into a ball before the missile hit. Maybe something blocked me from the blast.

I looked at the date, January 8th, oh crap, the others must have left, back to campus.

I had to get back to Washington DC

"Um, Nurse, I need to go see my mom, there in Washington, DC," I said. "Why ok, I just called the airlines, you will get a free ride home."

I went to the airlines, and boarded the plane. I had to walk in a cast, though. I had broken my left arm and right leg. I soon sat on a seat and drifted to sleep.

I soon woke up. I was in a car, heading towards campus. The person who was driving was Alexander.

When he saw me, he freaked out. "BENJAMIN! YOUR ALIVE!" 

We soon veered into a highway section. We then arrived at campus. I got out of the car, and Alexander helped me towards the school. "So, what happened?" He said in curiosity.

"I just survived, you know, it was a miracle" We then went inside. "We have a surprise for you," Alexander said. He headed towards the gym.

I followed him. He opened the doors of the gym. Every student was there. There was a banner that said: WELCOME BACK BEN! I stared at the students; they all rushed towards me. I looked at Alexander. "How did they know I was alive?" 

"Well, I called the others that Ben was alive, and they set up a party for you"  People were hugging me and squeezing me. "Whoa whoa Im injured, watch out for my injury" Then, Zoe and Mike practically tackle me. I felt pain, but was happy that I was back.

"I thought you were dead!" Mike said, hugging me more. He seemed so happy. There was cake and a chocolate fountain in the gym. The teachers gave me a hello. And Catherine gave me a squeeze hug. She started to cry.

But there was one person missing, Erica.

"Where's Erica?" I said, curious.

"I don't know; she's been in her room ever since you died, you should go check her out, she still doesn't know that you're alive."

"I think I have a better idea," I said.

"What is it?" Chip said.

"Let's surprise her."
