The second lecture wasn't as bad as the first one. First off, Erica didn't talk much about how I had to keep their identities a secret and that no one without access to that information can know about it. All she said was, " Don't tell anyone about us or I'll hunt you down and I will kill you." She didn't need to say anymore. I got the message.

Second, I got to learn more about the mission. It was both fascinating and worrying. Fascinating because it's not every day you get to hear about top secret mission that involves fighting bad guys and saving the world. Worrying because I knew that there was a pretty high chance that I could die on this mission.

" There has been five breaches in our security system over the past two months. Three of them were caused by undercover agents from SPYDER, an evil organization that the CIA has been hunting down for a few years now. They aren't a friendly organization. They will do whatever it takes to get what they want. Even if it means sacrificing many people." Erica said.

As she said this though, I spotted a little, tiny hint of emotion in her eyes. Sadness. It quickly disappeared as soon as I noticed it. It was like she was trying to hide it from everyone else. But why? I thought.

" The other two breaches were from undercover agents from another evil organization that we have yet to discover. During each breach, the agents would hack into our main computer and try to access whatever they can. Both organizations need something that we have in order to crack this code." She held up her phone and showed me a picture. It was a code all right. A very confusing one:

N= 19.4536(2)

It was a mixture of letters and numbers. But I didn't know what they stood for. Neither did any of the others. They all were confused like me. I sighed. I don't how I'm going to be any help to the mission. All I know is a confusing code that doesn't even make sense to me. And thinking about it was giving me a headache. Zoe noticed this.

" Don't worry. We feel the same way you do. We'll crack this code together. Soon." She said reassuringly. I nodded. It made me feel a little better.

Mike yawned. " I'm tired. Is this meeting over? I have a bed I have to get to." I was feeling sleepy again as well. So was everyone else. I glanced at my clock again. 10:25. It was way past my bedtime. Erica looked at her watch.

" I guess we can go now." She said coldly. She didn't look the slightest bit tired.

Mike was the first to obey. He said, " Good bye. Nice meeting you." And then, he jumped out of the window. Ben was next. Then Zoe. Then Levi. " I hope you feel better. Text me if you find anything." He said. Then he leapt out too.

Now it was just me and Erica. Erica picked up the window that was on the ground and stood on the window ledge. She paused before jumping out. She turned around and said, " Don't trust anyone Jacie. We are your only assets now. Anyone else is a liability. Including them." She pointed to the picture of me and my parents that was on my desk. It saddened me that I couldn't trust the people I loved. But I nodded anyway. " Ok." I said. Then, she hung onto the window ledge with one hand and replaced the window with the other bolting it into place. Then she jumped on to the ground with the rest of the team.

" Let's go."

The next day of school went by slow. We did English and Bible and Spelling. Now it's lunchtime. Everyone is in the cafeteria. I was heading towards the library again. Not because I wanted to check out a book, but because I needed to think. The library was the perfect place to think.

As I walked in however, I noticed that the librarian wasn't there. She was usually behind her desk reading a book. She rarely ever leaves the library. The only time she'll leave the library is when she needs to use the bathroom, or when she leaves to go home. She doesn't go to the school plays or the basketball games or any other type of school event. She doesn't even go to the staff meetings! And those are mandatory for all staff members to attend.

I checked in the fiction section. She wasn't there. I checked in the reference section. She still wasn't there. I looked around everywhere. I couldn't find her.

Until I came to the back of the library. What I saw was a total disaster. The tables had been turned over and all of the books were scattered on the floor. Some of them were torn. On top of all the books was an unconscious librarian. The door to the computer lab was open behind her.

I stepped over the librarian and quietly entered the computer lab. It was dark and quiet. I looked towards the back of the computer lab, and saw that one of the computer screens were on. I also saw someone standing in front of it. Whoever it is was dressed in black and their back was facing towards me.

I crept up closer to the first row of computers so that I could get a better look at the screen. The screen was lined with all sorts of numbers and letters. They were scrolling up and down. The person at the computer typed something, and all of the numbers and letters disappeared. The person typed something again, and a code appeared on the screen. It looked like the code that Erica showed me, but the letters and numbers were different:

W= 38.51845(2)

The person spoke into an earpiece in his right ear.

" The coordinates have been downloaded sir. I'm sending them to you right now." I gasped. It was a boy. But not just any boy. It was Caleb Bubar! He was working for the bad guys? How? Caleb is the most incompetent person I know. Although he was very athletic, he has the mindset of a raccoon. He lies, he cheats, he steals, and he is not the slightest bit smart. Which means that someone else had to tell him what to do and how to do it.

But who? I thought. There are many people out there that could've told him what to do.

Or maybe it was the guy he was talking too.

I took out my phone and snapped a photo of the code. I've got to show this to Levi and the others. It might have something to do with the other code.

Caleb typed something again, and the computer went black. The code was no longer there. " Finished. Make sure you have my money. I went through a lot of trouble to get this code." He said.

So they paid him to do it. He didn't do it because he wanted to know what the code was, he was in it for the money. He took out a flash drive from the computer, and    put it in his left pocket. Then, he walked towards the exit. I scrambled out of sight just as he passed.

He stepped over the librarian and walked out of the library.

I didn't talk much when mom picked me up. I was too busy thinking. Why would Caleb do such a thing? What does the code mean? Is the librarian okay?

Mom sensed my silence. " Are you ok Jacie? You don't look very well." She asked. I nodded. " I'm fine." I said.
" Are you sure?" She asked. I thought before answering. I've been thinking about telling her and dad about the whole entire case. About Levi and his mission and how I'm involved in it. I didn't like keeping secrets like this from them. But then, I knew that I would be in big trouble if I told them. Levi and the others would be in lots of trouble as well. Then the whole mission would be a bust. But I still had to try.

" Mom can I trust you?" I asked. Mom looked at me, shocked that I even asked that question. She gaped at me for a second and then said, " Of course you ca-Why are you asking me this!?" She yelled. Her eyes grew wide in surprise. I was shocked at her reaction. I was expecting a yes or no answer. This reaction made me forget about even thinking about telling her about the mission.

Mom calmed down and took a few deep breaths. " I'm sorry Jacie. I didn't mean to overreact like that. I'm just surprised that you asked." She said calmly. " Yes, you can trust me. What is it that you want to tell me?" She asked.

I took a few deep breaths myself. I was trying to calm down from the reaction. " Never mind. It's fine." I said. I stared out the window. The lines of traffic blocked the view.

Mom nodded. " Ok." She said. Then she added, " I love you Jacie." I turned to her. " I love you too mom."

I stared out the window the entire rest of the way home. Until my phone buzzed. I picked it up and read the text. It was from Levi. Did you find anything?, He asked. I texted him back. Yes. I did find something." I waited for a reply. Then he texted, Ok. I'll tell the others. We'll meet you again at your house.
