Ben's POV

Today is baseball tryouts and I can't wait. Today's is my sophomore year. Last year I made varsity and was made captain. So today I wanna make it again.

"Alright we're gonna start with stretches than long toss," yelled couch Steve.

——————————————-time skip to after stretches

"Aight. Find a partner to throw with for long toss."  I looked around for some I knew from varsity to grow with. As I was looking around I saw Zoe hosting cheerleading tryouts next to us on the football field.

"Hey Ben," coach said.

"Yeah," I answered.

"You have to throw the pitching coach," he told.

"Okay." We grew for about ten minutes before coach told us to stop.

"Now we're gonna split up into groups. Group one will be pitchers/first basemen. Group 2 PO's. Group 3 infielders. And group 4 outfielders."so we split up into groups. My group went to the bullpen first.

"So Ben your gonna start. So em how it's done." I went up to the mound and threw a 79 mph pitch down the middle. Next I threw a 2 seam fastball on the outside of the plate. I threw a curve and a couple other pitches.

"Next," said coach. The next went and threw only fastballs. The same thing happened with the rest.

"So lets go to first base. We're gonna have the infielders throw from 3rd and shortstop. To y'all." I was up first and caught every single ball. Everyone else missed one or two.

"Everyone in," coach yelled, "Were gonna have the pitchers throw to two batters to see what happens. First up to pitch Ben. Batters Robert, and Braden." Okay then. I'm pitching to the best two batters In the state. No worries. Robert went up to bat first. I threw him a 4 seam fastball down the middle which he fouled tipped.

"Strike one." Next I threw an off speed. He swung at it but missed completely.

"Strike two." Then to finish it. I threw a break ball. Went right down the middle but he didn't even swing.

"Strike three. Batters out." Yes I strike him out. The same thing happened with Braden.

"We're gonna do base running now. Braden your first. He ran from home back to home. I went next and did the same and did it up under 15 seconds. Everyone else went and then we went to BP.

"After you bat you can go home. Ben your first." I went up to hit and hit every single ball except 3. After I was done I went back to get my bag and put my stuff away. Then I went home.
