Again!!!

Arima Kousei POV:

I tried escaping from this endless darkness I'm in almost everyday but all I could feel is deep pain and agony. I always get nightmares, too.

I couldn't move at all. I couldn't even see any light from where I am right now. How can I get out from here? Someone... Is there someone who could help me escape?

Ahhh....

I thought my life isn't in monotone already...

It seemed I turned it back again...

I took myself to hear my surroundings. There's nothing familiar at all. I can't hear anything... wait... there's a familiar song I'm hearing. What song is playing right now?

Is it Twinkle Twinkle Little Star? Someone is also singing the song for me.

"Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,
How I wonder what you are,
Up above the world so high
Like a diamond in the sky...
Twinkle twinkle little star,
How I wonder what you are..."

Who's singing the song? Is that familiar person singing the song for me? Why would that person sing that familiar song for me?

That voice... I want to know.... let me know! Let me see who it is!

I'm begging you!

I can't breathe...

My whole body's aching...

What's happening with me?

There's light forming slowly from above me.

Please, let me reach that light!

I want to escape this horrible dark space I'm in!

Third POV:

After a few minutes, the doctors and nurses that saved Kousei went outside to meet Kaori, his parents and Mr. Thomas.

It's already almost a year, 11 months exactly, that he's in coma and he is already nearing his birthday.

It was February when he was attacked by President Park and his performance at the hotel should have been their guests' special day for Valentine's day but was ruined by what happened to him.

Just like what Kaori and Watari promised to the chairman of Arima Group, both acted as representatives until he wakes up.

"How is he?" asked Arima Saki.

"He reacted at the song you played for him that is why his heart monitor showed a spike. He almost got an arrest again but he's well after he recovered from it. That should be the last. He'll wake up soon," Doctor Nakamichi told them.

The news was a relief for everyone.

"He's currently in a sleep state. We still don't know when he'll be able to open his eyes. For now, we are keeping him in EMS. He'll be in a normal room from now on. That's it for now," Doctor Nakamichi informed them.

He has graded glasses now unlike at the time he started working to save a young heir from an almost impossible recuperation due to Arima Kousei's state at the time he was brought in.

For him, the one who actually caused him to overwork was due to what Thomas told him.

He didn't feel intimidated but after he looked at the old man's blazing eyes at the time, he knew how important William 'Kousei' Arima is, for the Arima Group and Arima Family.

Why almost impossible?

His heavy injuries weren't released to the public due to medical secrecy.

He doesn't just have two shots but he was also internally bleeding from the inside of his head that almost killed him. That trauma injury was the cause of his coma and why it took for so long for him to wake up.

Kaori had tears of joy while his parents stared happily at their son who was inside the ICU.

"Wake up soon, Kousei," Kaori muttered to herself.

That night, the breathing mask was replaced with a nasal cannula, a thin tube attached at his nose to help his breathing before he was taken at Room 246 at the hospital.

A week after he was taken at his hospital room, his eyes jolted open.

His eyes are blank and he tried to move but realized that his body was too heavy. He moved his head a bit. Even with a blurry eyesight, he realized that he is inside a hospital room. Most of all, he was alone.

"What... my eyesight..."

His eyesight is really blurry and light from the bulb was too sensitive to look for him.

A female nurse walked in who was stationed for him to move his body and exercise it, when she noticed that he had woken up already.

The nurse quickly pushed the button from the back of his bed to alert his doctor.

Doctor Nakamichi quickly went in and smiled at him. "Nurse Rio! Don't scare me like that. I thought that he had another arrest," he told her.

Nurse Rio is a beautiful, small woman. She is half-Filipino, half Japanese who work at the hospital. Her complexion is also brown.

She bowed at him once Doctor Nakamichi is in.

Doctor Nakamichi stared at the young company president. He slowly asked him, "Don't be afraid of me. I'm your doctor. I'm Doctor Nakamichi. How are you feeling? Do your eyes hurt? If you can't still speak, it's alright. Just respond with blinks."

Kousei stammered and stuttered, "I.... I c-c-can speak. My eyesight... I can't see you well."

His voice was too soft that Doctor Nakamichi sighed. "Don't stress yourself to speak yet. You'll hurt yourself. Just nod or blink for now until you can finally speak freely again. Now, on to the next, do you feel dizzy?"

Kousei blinked.

Doctor Nakamichi asked other things and after five minutes, he finished. "If I tired you, you can rest. Your eyesight and voice will be in normal state soon. Don't stress yourself."

He was then told by Nurse Rio that he can go back to sleep.

He did try following them but he was too afraid to close his eyes again that tears streaked his eyes and cheeks that he cried hard due to fear.

It shocked Nurse Rio and Doctor Nakamichi. He was then given a sedative, forcing him to fall back asleep.

Nurse Rio sighed and asked Doctor Nakamichi, "What just happened?"

Doctor Nakamichi just sighed, too. "He just felt afraid to fall asleep again, I believe. He's maybe too afraid of the darkness that engulfed him."

"He's aware he had coma?" A surprised reaction came from Nurse Rio.

"I don't know. We'll know next time he wakes up," Doctor Nakamichi is scratching his head.

His family was then informed that he finally woke up.

Taka and Saki quickly went at the hospital to visit their son and when they are already at Room 246, they opened the door and stared at the heavily-steriled room.

At the hospital bed is their son who's eyes are staring at the open window.

He had glasses back on already. Doctor Nakamichi is also inside checking his vital signs.

He stared at the two new arrivals and smiled. "He's fine, Chairman."

Kousei stared at them happily. "Okaasan... Outosan!"

Both of them quickly hugged him happily.

"How did I end up in the hospital?" Kousei asked.

Saki was surprised. "You don't remember?"

Both looked seriously at Doctor Nakamichi.

Doctor Nakamichi sighed and told them, "You can meet me at my office, sir, maam."
...

After a few months of rehabilitation, Arima Kousei was able to go back home with his parents staying with him at the Arima Mansion.

He wasn't yet able to walk normally before he got attacked by President Park, lastly, Doctor Nakamichi advised his parents not to force him to remember whatever he's forgotten unless he acts that he wants to know the past.

"Go back here if you learn something more," Doctor Nakamichi told Arima Saki on a phone call while they've let her son rest once again inside his room.

Even though the doctor already allowed him to get out of the hospital since he's getting better, he wasn't allowed yet to go to his office in Arima Music Company.

Kousei sighed inside his room after a few hours of sleep. He had woken up after remembering the song that made him conscious once again.

There was a black piano at the right side of his bed, facing the glass windows.

He sat near it and opened the lid so that he could play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star but suddenly, he had a strange realization that befall him. "How... How could this be?" he asked himself.

Tears engulfed his eyes. "Why... why can't I put my fingers on it?"

Thomas opened the door of Kousei's room to visit him but, he was surprised to find his face wet with his tears. "Doushita no, Kousei?"

"Thomas-san... I can't... I can't play the piano! It's not like I'm afraid to play it! I want to play it but... why... why can't I play the piano?" cried Arima Kousei, bitterly.

"William....," Thomas pitied him.

"I'm a president of a company... A professional pianist, too. How will I get out in the public again if news about me losing my ability gets out? Thomas-san... Promise me not to tell anyone about it. Can we go to Doctor Nakamichi for a check up?" Kousei asked. 

Thomas stood behind him and opened up the window, "You wanted to play piano again this early morning and found out you can't play? Well then, we'll go together. Come now."

Thomas accompanied him back at the Tokyo Hospital without his parents' approval.

He's still being supported by Thomas while walking because he can't walk normally yet.

Doctor Nakamichi welcomed the two of them at the waiting hall of the hospital and bowed at them. He then guided them in his office where both sat up to talk to him.

"Why the sudden visit after just a day of your hospital leave?" Doctor Nakamichi asked.

"I can't play the piano," Kousei deliberately confessed.

That was a shock to Doctor Nakamichi.

"Why can't I play it again? I have to play the piano! Most of all, I hate it when people keeps secrets around the reason why I suddenly lost a year of my life! I just kept on sleeping in darkness and now... now... I thought... I thought I could play piano again!" he cried. Tears engulfed him heavily that both older males pitied the suffering of a young musician.

"William, let's check you up. Calm down. We still don't know if you can never play piano again," Doctor Nakamichi  sighed.

Kousei dried his tears and followed him. After undergoing MRIs and CT Scans, Doctor Nakamichi told them that he'd try to find the reason why he suddenly lost the ability to play piano. 

While they were going back to the mansion inside their car, Thomas noticed that Kousei became so pale and he's sweating heavily.

He touched his forehead and that is when he knew that he is suffering from fever after a hospital visit.

When they reached the mansion quickly, he quickly told the servants and the security guards to help him lie back down for him to be able to rest inside his large room.

Arima Takahiko soon learned about what had happened to his son after he was told by his secretary just after he had a meeting with all the company presidents including his own son's representatives.

He tried to hide his shock in front of Kaori and Watari who we're there as Kousei's representatives but still, he knows that if he acts differently, they would both learn about it and he would worry both of them.

Arima Saki rushed by his side after knowing that he suddenly had a high fever. "You have just brought my son back home! Why is he having high fever just after you went back here?"

Saki kept screaming those words repeatedly outside his son's room while a doctor examine him carefully.

Doctor Hanamichi, an old clinic doctor near the Arima Mansion went outside Kousei's room after he had given her son medicine for colds. 

"His immune system is still down. I heard he just got back home after a long stay in the hospital?" he asked them.

"Yes, he's in coma for almost a year, eleven months exactly. After that, he stayed for three months recuperating until he was able to get out of the hospital. He wasn't allowed to leave until he is out from using a wheelchair," Thomas told him and looked down.

The doctor sighed deeply and stared at the two of them. 

"I suggest that your son isn't allowed to get out of his room, yet and also, give him enough rest. He must also drink his medicine periodically and correctly. Did he get out today?" Doctor Hanamichi asked the two of them while Akihito stays inside Kousei's room.

Kousei is once again given IV drips and he's sleeping in pain again.

He is also still silently crying in his bed while thinking about his own discovery about himself.

Thomas looked at Saki apologetically while Saki stared at him with an angry face.

"Where did both of you go?" she asked.

Thomas bowed down and confessed to her, "I brought your son at the hospital this morning."

Takahiko had gone back home and rushed at Kousei's room when he heard Thomas say, "This morning, he was crying about why he can't play the piano. We went at the hospital so that he can be examined. He was fine all along the examination. He was even able to walk quickly even I'm still supporting him. It was at the time when we were already inside the car when I found out he was going pale."

"He can't play?" Takahiko was shocked that made the three of them stare at him.

Doctor Hanamichi sighed and waved his goodbye.

...

The next day, Doctor Nakamichi called for Thomas and William 'Kousei's' parents to go at the hospital as the result of the MRI and CT Scan was already out.

When they were finally in his office, he quickly showed them Kousei's brain scans.

He didn't hesitate to speak the truth about their son's condition. "Your son acquired selective amnesia due to his brain injury, though, it should only have affected his memory loss of the last events before he had coma. His inability to play piano is merely psychological. It should slowly return upon the day he remembers it."

"That's," Arima Saki clenched her fists.

"That's horrible, yes. Yes, it is true that the only way for him to play piano once again is for him to remember the day he was attacked and shot. Mr and Mrs. Arima, I may be stepping out so much in my position as his doctor to request you something very important but it is also for him as well, I'm not forcing you to do it, too," he told them.

Arima Kousei's parents sighed and Saki smiled at him. "Thank you for the concern."

...

That same day, Kousei woke up and found his right hand, strapped once again with a tube of IV drips.

Most of all, his uncle, Akihito was there beside him, reading books. He smiled and told him, "Oh, you've woken up."

"Uncle...," he quickly spoke up.

"How are you feeling now?" Akihito asked.

"I feel better," he honestly told him.

"That's good," Akihito smiled.

After that, Akihito's son, Kazuhiko entered his room and smiled at him.

Kousei was so surprised and happy to learn that his sole, close cousin visited him in his home.

"It's been a long time that you haven't been here in Japan. Most of all, you suddenly got sick all of a sudden. You still remember me, right?" Kazuhiko asked him.

Kazuhiko is now a professional pianist like Kousei. He still have his cute face but he's gone darker and more mature.

"I still remember you. You're my cousin," Kousei smiled at him.

"The results are out. Thomas just called. They will be here in five minutes," he told him.

Kousei flinched and slouched back in his bed. "Did he say anything about my condition?"

Kazuhiko scratched his back and told him, "Thomas would tell you further but this is what he wanted me to tell you. You'll be able to play as a pianist again."

Kousei's tears suddenly went out automatically after hearing those words. "Arigatou, Kazuhiko-san."
