"Well this seems like utter bullshit," Raymond muttered as the two began to pull into school and stares immediately swept over them.

"Raymond!" Bella hushed her sibling, her eyes swept over the crowd and seemed relieved when she found no one was looking at them.

"Come on goose, lets not act like I'm the only one already annoyed," Ray scoffed back as he swing the strap to his backpack over his shoulder and secured it against the thickness of his sweater. It had been a few days since the incident and neither teenager had been to school since. Dr. Cullen had been kind enough to supply Bella and Raymond with a few medications, mostly pain meds for the former and antiseptic wipes for the latter, but he has also managed to recommend a few days out of school. The two had been quite stunned to find this out but had jumped at the chance to lounge around their home for a few days. From the weekend onwards they had done nothing but relax, watch some of their favorite shows in the family room, and eaten whatever they could find or scrounge up when they managed to leave the home.

"I know it's just— well we didn't exactly discuss it any longer," Bella uttered after a few silent moments as she had allowed the cars engine to continue to run.

"That's what happens when we make a pact to sit on it for awhile," Raymond rolled his eyes and leaned into the chair as he realized they weren't exiting for awhile. His eyes briefly glanced to the watch at his wrist which showed they still had a few minutes before the first bell rang.

"Did you sit on it?" She lifted a brow and when his face continued to be blank bell turned her body and further detailed, "you're telling me that the entire time we were home you didn't think about any of it? Didn't run a few ideas in your head?"

"Well no," he scoffed, pressing his lips together when he realized just how right she was. There wasn't a moment when he wasn't thinking about it, Bella and him were in a particular situation, one he didn't know if he was prepared to handle mentally. "I did think about it but I never acted like I did? Did I?"

Bella rolled her eyes in response, yanking the keys out of her ignition and grumbling a few incoherent words.

Ray smiled, realizing he'd gotten the upper hand and his sister was more then annoyed over it. He pulled his lips into his mouth and jumped out of the large truck, the door swinging loudly behind me before it shit firmly and he met the brunette at the hood. Deciding that he wanted to push her buttons a little longer he wrapped an arm around her and squeezed her to his side, Bella huffed in annoyance and squirmed to push away.

"Awe Goose don't be so mad at me, I won't see you all day, let's enjoy our last few moments." He spoke, after another second he finally released her and watched as she sighed in happiness.

"I'm not mad," she huffed and pulled her straight her down so it lay flat. She shut her eyes for a second and breathed deeply, "I'm just frustrated with everything."

Raymond shrugged his shoulders and agreed, "I get it, but at the very least you'll have a small distraction today."

"Stuck the whole day with our classmates in one humid greenhouse while they pride me with various questions I'll no doubt be repeating. How fun!" She sarcastically said the ending and looked at the awaiting bus with annoyance.

Her nose crinkles when she continues to look and he couldn't help but smirk and tap her chin, "okay you little grump, I'll admit that's something I wouldn't care to be in either but try your best to make it a good day."

Bella forced a smile to her face before she was saying goodbye and turning in the opposite direction. He watched her walk off and slowly ascend to the school bus, Mike trailing behind her and no doubt already annoying the small brunette.

Ray smirked and turned back to the high school, most of his friends would be gone and no doubt it would be a much more peaceful day for him then Bella. There was a possibility all of the coursework would get his mind off the obvious but still he knew himself way too much, when something hugged him it was like a thirst that never seemed to deteriorate.

He was sitting in the library for Study Hall when the day grew interesting. There was only about 45 minutes left in his day before he could walk out and listen to Bella groan about the field trip on the ride home. Frankly, he was excited to hear her story as the day had been fairly normal. Rosalie hadn't shown up today which was odd since he'd seen Edward's silver Volvo in the parking lot but he chose not to think too much about it and instead focusing on the prospect of finally using his gym that day.

His hand was still slightly sore and the stitches were set to come out for another week at least but that didn't mean he would be held back. In all honesty he missed the exertion and needed a way to get out of his own head—or at least forget about the homework at the moment.

"Portuguese is nothing like spanish." He had muttered to himself lowly, reading assignment in hand he began to wonder just why he had taken the class. He was Brazilian on his mom side, and while she had been fluent in the language and many others the trait had not been passed onto her son entirely. Maria Palmero had been half Columbia's and Brazilian, and had continuously instilled these cultures into the boy. Raymond had once known Portuguese as easily as Spanish but now only semi knew the former of the two. He could understand it just fine but speaking the language of his ancestors was a whole different idea.

"É a linguagem do amor e você vai precisar, se você tem alguma esperança para namorar minha irmã." A deep voice suddenly interrupted his torment and his hands shot up to look for the owner of the voice.

Emmett Cullen loomed over him like a bear pouncing on his prey, only this bear smiled and gave off the aura of a completely friendly animal. The grin on his lips was only accentuated by the deepened dimples on his face and the curly hair that sat atop his head.

Raymond was at a loss for words, he had never spoken to this member of the Cullen family and frankly the only time the two had ever been near was that time he threatened Edward. Although Emmett was slightly intimidating judging by the glint of mischief in his eyes it seemed that he couldn't entirely judge a book by its cover.

"I'm not trying to win over Rosalie." He responded back jokingly.

A low whistle left Emmett who promptly swung his backpack off his shoulders and smoothly pulled the empty chair swiveling so the back pressed against his chest and either leg was opposite it. Emmett pressed his forearms against the top of it and extended his grin. "You can't lie to me, I'm an excellent judge of character."

Raymond smiled at his new friend, he didn't know what to say next partly because he didn't exactly understand why the big guy was in the library to begin with. They didn't share any classes and the only time he ever saw Emmett was before school, during lunch, or after school and even then he could not remember a single time the curly haired boy had ever given him a parting glance. He decided then that was his best angle however, "So what are you doing in my study hall?"

"Rosalie sent me to keep you company," Emmett admitted rather bluntly and he awaited even a glint of surprise from the boy. Raymond looked at him and slightly chuckled but other then that nothing, he was calm.

"Is that so?" Raymond responded while flipping into the next page and attempting to remember what each word said. "Never thought I'd get a babysitter in school."

Emmett hummed, "more like she thought you'd be bored and also in need of some help with the history homework."

"Unless you can tell me how to summarize the Cold War in 2 pages or less I don't know." Ray jokes as he flipped through another passage and debated how much he could actually quote before he got in trouble.

"I know that it was a pain in the ass." Emmett said with a cheeky grin, reflecting on those times and his family watching as the rest of the world went bonkers while they simply wondered if a nuclear blast would be enough to kill them.

"Cold War: Pain in the Ass, Ms. Flax will love that." Day joked before groaning and rubbing his hand down his face. "I'm gonna fail this stupid class, I know it."

Emmett found it humorous how irrelevant history was to this kid and yet he had no idea that sometime in the future history would be all that would surround his mind, that is if Rosalie ever got her head out of her ass. He loved his best friend, she could be arrogant and hard headed at times but truly she was his favorite person out of the Cullen's and her even he could admit that sometimes Rosalie could be such a pain in the ass herself.

He scooted his chair closer, big bear inching further into the small deer and read over a short passage of the book before groaning. "Alright, here's where you start..."

It'd been about another hour for Emmett to explain the Cold War and for Ray to finally understand, in that time the two had gone from strangers to fast friends. The two had nearly been kicked out of the library from their cackles of laughter and the mayhem they had corrupted. Emmett had suggested the two start a paper airplane competition and while Ray had made a very detailed airplane Emmett's throw had been straight and long. After the third attempt the two had moved onto who could balance the most books on top of their head and the librarian had only grown more and more irritated. Eventually the older lady had gone into the back room for some quiet and the two hours had continued.

"That did not go in cleanly!" Raymond accused, eyes narrowing at the bear like man.

Emmett's eyebrow raised, suddenly realizing that if Rosalie didn't turn him into a vampire then he would most definitely just to have a partner in crime. "It went in! That's the point of the game!"

"You yelled clean shot!" Ray shook his head and rolled his own hand around.

Emmett's shoulders dropped and he glowered like a child, "alright fine! Can I do another?"

Ray opened his mouth to state that no, in fact, he couldn't because it was his turn and that would be against the rules when the bell rang, signaling the end of the day. A smile rose to Raymond's face, "looks like we'll have to continue this! Next time with an actual basketball! I'll see if my dad wants to set up our old net and we can play!"

Emmett pressed his lips together, Rosalie would not enjoy that, he thought imagining how she would discipline the two vampires extensively. He could already hear her yells about not hurting Raymond which he wasn't going to do but he was tempted to play. "Alright, cool, see you around!"

"I'll hold you to that game, kick your ass too," Ray jokes and swing his backpack over his shoulder.

He walked out towards the crowds of kids, hoping his sister was already back from her trip and he could jump right into her warm cab without having to wait. Just as he'd made it outside someone ran up to him, as per usual Mike was hyper.

"Ray! Missed you buddy!" The blonde states and kept in pace.

"Hey, what's up mike?" Ray answered back with a smile, wondering just what mike wanted. They didn't really speak anymore, now it was more like they were just associates who occasionally hung around the same group. Mike had become like an orbiting planet around Bella... an unwanted one at that.

"I actually have a questions to ask you." Mikes smile slipped to one of pure nerves and Ray stopped in his tracks.

"Oh," he said and crossed his arms. "What is it?"

Mike suddenly seemed to sweat as he licked his lips in worry and shuffled his feet, "I was wondering if I could—uh— if I could have your blessing to ask Bella to prom?"

Ray suddenly felt like cracking up, his lips threatened to twitch, my blessing? He thought to himself as the idea became hysterical the longer he thought. He allowed a low chuckle to escape, something deep that seemed to instill only further fear into Mike. As if Bella needed anyone's permission to do anything, Ray continues to think privately, the girl had practically raised herself.

"Blessing?" Ray repeated with a smug smile and puffed his chest, "why would you need my blessing?"

"I just thought since we were good friends and Bella was practically your sister it might cause a strain and maybe that's why she had turned my down." Mike babbles quickly, he looked nearly out of breath, like he needed an inhaler.

Ray was suddenly confused, and as his eyes travelled from Mike and his rambling to the open lot where he met eyes with Bella who seemed either frightened or worried. In a very, brother-sister way he barely raised his brow, enough so she could understand what he was thinking.

What the hell is happening here? He seemed to have questioned with that one look.

Bella shook her head softly, no, no, no, no!

He was even further confused so he decided, unfortunately for Mike, that he was going to pressure him for more information. "How are you asking for my blessing if she already turned you down?"

Mikes shoulders deflated, "Bella told me you two were heads to Florida the weekend of prom and I was kind of hoping she was lying to save our friendship. I know you're very protective of her so I thought it was maybe better to ask you and then if it was cool, then maybe I could ask her again. I overheard Jessica talking about how you were planning on asking her to prom so I..."

Well, mike had now solved one mystery while revealing another, Ray shook his head, "wait, wait, wait. When was I going to ask Jessica?"

"I sat behind her and Angela on the bus, overhead her saying how she was thinking you both could wear red—or magenta for prom and I figured you were gonna ask her." Mike admitted with a shrug.

Ray actually belted out a laugh as he understood everything, Bella was lying, Jessica was delusional, and poor Mike was dateless. "Okay, okay. 1. I'm not asking Jessica to prom, I'm not gonna be here to ask her. 2. We are flying to Florida to spend time with her mom. And finally 3. I'm sorry Mikey but if it's any consolation I hear Jessica is in the market for a date."

Mikes blue eyes seemed to deflate and then slightly spring back, "and there's no way you two could postpone."

He shook his head, "not unless you'd like us to get our heads chewed off by Renee. Sorry buddy, I'll toast to you while I sit beachside though."

"And Jessica? Thought you two had a thing going on?" Mike questioned gently, he'd moved on fast.

Ray bit his bottom lip at the memory of Jessica, there'd been a spark between once but time had passed, new faces had presented themselves, and mysteries had taken control. There was no going back to Jessica, certainly not after Rosalie.

He shook his head, eyes trailing the lot as he thought of the blonde, her cherry red convertible was suddenly pulling out of the lot furiously. The sound of the engine was loud, "no, nothing."

He walked away after nodding a simple goodbye to Mike and made his way towards his impatient sister, who was trying her best to act as if she hadn't been watching like a hawk. Bella had clumsily made it into the car and tapped her fingers against the steering wheel of the cab.

Ray jumped in quickly after, relishing I'm the warm air being blasted by the car and finally released a good laugh.

Bella reached over and smacked him in the arm, "it's not funny! What did he tell you?"

"Apparently I'm going to Florida and taking Jessica to the prom within the same weekend so ya know—exciting things and you've apparently turned into a master liar, goose." Ray jokes he pulled his seat belt on as Bella turned the car to reverse and the drive exiting the lot before it got too busy.

Bella grumbled under her breath as she frowned, sighing loudly she explained, "I had to think fast alright. Mike was asking me to go to prom with him and it for weird so I—I just said the first thing that came to mind. We can spend the weekend in Seattle or something, or just hide at home but you know I'm not the best dancer so I refused to put myself in that ordeal."

"Oh I know that, my toes still haven't recovered from the day we went to my aunts wedding and I asked you to dance." Ray jokes but slightly shuttered while stretching out his big toe. The thought of Bella nearly falling and stabbing the baby heel of her shoe into his own still haunted him.

"Raymond! Be serious!" She yelled.

"I covered for you, and for my own ass cause apparently Jessica was two thoughts away from planning our wedding." He respondes and leaned against the door. "But, jokes aside, I think Florida is a good idea. I think we need a break from Forks and it's....people."

Bella eyed him for a moment, knowing exactly who he meant. She sighed and nodded, "can't say I entirely disagree."

Raymond nodded his head and decided they could discuss this further with their dads over dinner, for now they had more pressing matters. "So what happened?"

Bella sighed, almost like she was trying to debate where to start and Raymond decided this was definitely a story he needed to sit comfortably for.
