hannie is quiet and unassuming. she isn't the type that brings a lot of attention to herself, preferring to stay in the shadows of those who do, but at the same, she secretly craves to be seen after living her whole life in the shadow. she's introverted and distrusting, but one wouldn't particularly call her shy. she simply keeps quiet because it is better for her to stay quiet than to be outgoing and gain a lot of attention. attention, to her, is a bad thing. it means people notice her, and in hannie's case, people always notice the bad things first. particularly, her lack of wings.

her lack of wings had always been something she was self-conscious about, and that eventually turned into deep-rooted envy. she's wished her whole life for her wings, but now that she's older she's given up hope of ever gaining them. except for a tiny piece of her heart that still longs for the impossible. most people that meet her are curious about it, reminding her of her greatest flaw. that's why she hates meeting new people and are generally distrustful of anyone who approaches her.

hannie is known by her friends as smart and creative, always getting high marks and learning in her free time. since she had quite a lonely childhood, there was nothing else she could entertain herself with aside from the books her mother left her. she stayed away from sports and other outside activities because people would always stare or it would require socializing with the other fairies who were not particularly kind. she loves all kinds of genres, but particularly action or mystery novels which made her quite good at coming up with ideas.

she's taught herself to stay calm no matter the situation, or at least keep up an emotionless front for other people. hannie's had to learn at a young age that showing her real feelings would only make people make fun of her more. so, to stop herself from pain, she's learned to cover it up. she's not had to put on her mask since getting her own friend group who she truly trusts, but it's still there, in the back of her mind. ready to pull up at a moment's notice.

hannah was born and raised in the land of fairies. because she was half-human, she was made fun of by the other fairy children growing up. her mother, her fairy parent, raised her well but she was also too busy (being a single mother) so the bullying slipped past her. when she was younger, the bullying and her envy towards the other fairies were much more extreme but as she grew older she learned to hide this and the bullying also got better because she learned not to give them the reactions they want.
