Prologue

Searching the Gotham city alleyways for an opportunity, a young boy finds a sleek, black car. Those tires look very nice he thinks to himself. Love to see the poor guys face when he notices his awesome new ride won't be taking him home. He takes out a wrench from his pocket and starts unscrewing the lug nuts on the front left tire. On the third tire, the boy drops his wrench when he hears a loud dark voice.

"Unbelievable"

The frightened boy looks in the direction of the spoken word and sees a man dressed in black.  "Who are you?" he asks.

"I'm...Jason." the boy answers.

...

"He's been admiring himself in the mirror for a while now." mentions Alfred.

"Glad he's excited." Batman chuckles.

Jason sneaks up behind Batman. "Boo! I got you!"

"You would have got me, if I didn't see you a cape behind the computer." he smirks.

"No, I got you!" Jason corrects him.

"So how do you like being Robin?" he asks.

"It is awesome! I look so cool! I am the boy wonder!" he flips over on to the batmobile, smiling. "This is the best day of my life!"

...

"You were too aggressive, Robin! You shattered his collarbone." shouts Batman.

"He deserved it! He's just a dirty street rat! You know what he's done!" Jason yells back.

"That was not part of the plan. He could have gave us information. He can't now since he's in a body cast." Batman replies.

Jason anger goes away. "I'm sorry. That was dumb. I'll do better next time, Bruce."

...

"Well that was fun. Crowbar and me here had a wonderful time!" cackles the Joker. Jason is laying on the ground his body covered in bruises,  bleeding from his nose and mouth.

"And remember it's a school night. Brush your teeth and be in bed by nine! Oh...and tell bats I said 'hello'." he says with a devious smile. The Joker closes creaking, metal door leaving Jason alone in the cold, abandoned warehouse. Struggling to open the locked door, he notices a faint beeping sound. Jason sighs as he finds the source of the sound, a time bomb counting 3, 2, 1. An immense flash fills the warehouse, the little Robin has fallen, plunging into the darkness.

...

"I'm not mad that you weren't able to save me. I'm mad because you let this scumbag live!" Jason shouts pointing to the Joker, strapped in a chair.

"You know that if I cross that line, my only rule, I will never come back." Batman replies.

"I know. But Bruce, we're talking about this no good murderer! Just once, give him what he deserves! Kill the man... who took me from you."

"I will not." Batman answers.

"No, you have no choice!" Jason throws a pistol to Batman. Batman catches it, eyeing it with discomfort.

"If you don't shoot this low life then I will," threatens Red Hood pulling the matching pistol to the Joker's head. "So you're going to have to shoot me. Choose!"

"Ooh suspense! I'm itching to see what will happen next!" the Joker snickers.

"No." Batman drops the gun on the ground and turns away.

"Choose, Bruce, choose! I will shoot him!" exclaims Jason. He turns the gun to Batman. "Get back here!" he pulls the trigger, firing a bullet at the Dark Knight. Expecting it, Batman lunges to the left, throwing a batarang at Red Hood's hand. He drops the gun, groaning in pain from the bloody gash made by the projectile.

"What a finale! Forced to make a decision but still ends up winning! Hooray for the Batman!" the Joker says laughing.

"No. This is over!" Jason pulls out a trigger and presses the flashing red button on it. A hidden bomb in the fire place activates, 30 seconds on the timer. Batman lunges for Jason and pulls him out of a nearby window, shattering the glass. An immense flash fills the building. For the second time, the Robin has gone astray, and has fallen far from the tree.

But is this poor bird a lost cause, destined to be alone? Will he ever use his wings again?

Only time will tell.
