Chapter 7 (706)
Shaded Sky ran ahead of the group, his wings flapping behind him. He was exited and couldn't wait to reach the new camp. Oak trees stretched up high the leaves an orange and brown color as they fluttered to the ground.
Shaded Sky looked up to see bright red things in the tree, he tilted his head slightly "What's that?" He asked no one in particular. Blaze Night stopped beside him and looked up at the red fruit, the rest of the pack kept walking. Exited murmuring could be heard throughout the pack as they talked and laughed with each other.
"Those are called Apples" Blaze Night answered "They can be eaten if times get rough around here, so it's good to know that there are a few Apple trees around." He continued to explain. "Cool! Can I eat one now?" Shaded Sky asked, he wanted to try one, maybe even more if he liked it! Blaze Night chuckled "Maybe not now, we should catch up before we get left behind." The Alpha then took a few paces in the direction of the clan "Come!" He gestured with his tail for Shaded Sky to follow.
Shaded Sky bounded ahead and eventually caught up to Jay Talon "Hey!" He greeted happily to the blueish grey pup. "Oh hey! Where were you?" Jay Talon asked curiously, "I saw some red things in the tree back there" he gestured with his black wing towards the direction of the tree before continuing "Blaze Night said that their Apples, and their good to eat when times are hard." He finished his little explanation. "Did you eat one?" Jay Talon questioned, "No I didn't get the chance to" Shaded Sky replied, a disappointed tone in his voice.
"Here it is!" A voice shouted from the front of the group. A gust of wind blew from behind Shaded Sky, he looked up in time to see Blaze Night flying towards the front of the group. "Let's go look!" Jay Talon excitedly bounded forward, squeezing his way past the other wolves, Shaded Sky followed close behind.
Once they reached the front of the group they gasped in awe. It was a cave etched in the side if the hill, tall grass covered some of the entrance and sunlight was able to stretch across the cave floor. Crystals hung from the ceiling and covered some of the walls, the sunlight reflecting off the colorful stones and making a rainbow of colors across the cave. The cave was quite wide, but there seemed to be many smaller cave entrances that could be made into dens.
On the outside of the cave and hill, were many oak trees, there were even a few Apple trees near by. A fallen tree was next to the cave, the wood slowly rotting away with time. Moss and orange leaves littered the ground, making it soft underpaw. To the right of the cave was a clearing, purple flowers bloomed and a pile of rocks stood off to the edge near the brown trees.
"This seems almost too perfect" Leaf Thorn commented, the older Psi stared wide eyed at the cave. Ice Wing nudged her "Let's check it out before anyone else does" his one good eye caught Shaded Sky watching him, who quickly looked away. Honestly Ice Wing's blind eye always scares him, "but didn't the patrol already do that?" Leaf Thorn asked, Ice Wing looked away from Shaded Sky and back at Leaf Thorn "oh yeah, I must have forgotten" he gave a light chuckle. "Your always forgetful."
Shaded Sky's attention drifted to Cloud Tree and Jay Wing when they bounded over next to them "Wow! This looks amazing!" Jay Wing bounced up and down excitedly. Shaded Sky's mind wandered away for a moment, If only Leopard Breeze was here to see it...
Shaded Sky stumbled a bit when Jay Talon nudged him "you blanked out for a moment, you okay?" He asked, Shaded Sky nodded quickly "yeah, I'm fine."
Dark Gaze started to organize hunting parties, but Blaze Night stopped him and said something that Shaded Sky couldn't hear. Blaze Night then jumped up onto the rotting log and called out "It's time to make a few pups Psi's!"
