Leaving the Nest
Even before he had graduated High School he wanted to spread his wings to see the world. This wish was supposed to be taken literal. On the back of the 22 year old grew a set of big bright red wings that often assisted him in getting home after a long day of school when his legs were letting him down. Work and travel was something he had always dreamt of doing. His teachers and his friends had always encouraged him to go for it and to gain all the experience he could possibly get. Improving his English skills sure was another great point in leaving his home country Japan.
„Excuse me?" A female voice brought him back to reality. She was making her way past him, surely had to catch another flight judging by the hurry she was in. He was waiting to pick up his bags while people were picking up their luggage, squeezing past him and his wings mumbling things he didn't understand in a very annoyed tone giving him an overall uncomfortable feeling. „It's a foreign country and a busy airport. People are just trying to get to where they need to be quickly. Plus they've probably never seen someone with an obvious quirk like mine", he thought to himself turning on his music.
After a while of walking through security and everything else he was sitting in one of the more comfortable seats of the London Underground, all his luggage assembled around him.
About an hour had passed when he stepped out at Waterloo Station into a chilly November Sunday evening. „Shit, this is so much more intense than the lessons at school", he sighed, loading up maps on his uPhone. „Hope people will understand me", he thought while entering the name of the place he was meant to stay at. „The Walrus Bar & Hostel", he chuckled. He still found this name to be absolutely hilarious.
After walking for about 5 minutes, struggling to keep all his stuff together, he arrived at his stay. A young woman opened the door, assisting him in getting his stuff inside, greeting him warmly. „How was your flight? All good? Pleasant weather?"
Keigo was way too„ jet lagged to listen to her questions properly. A soft nod was all he managed to get out along with a „yes, thank you." The woman on the other side of the counter asked to see his passport and checked him in quickly so he could get some rest. He carried all his stuff to his room on the first upper floor when he realised he was unbelievably tired despite the fact he slept on his flight here. But he needed to stay awake, just a little longer, so he wouldn't fuck up his sleeping schedule. Tomorrow was going to be his first day at his first job he had already applied for when he had been back home in Japan. Everybody he had talked to back then seemed to be very nice and easy going. He opened up the messenger app Circle to let his friends know he had arrived safely and in one piece. His legs dangled off the side of his bed and he began to struggle to keep his eyes open. Keigo sure was more tired than he would have ever guessed was possible for him to be so he started getting ready for bed. Putting his toothbrush back into its travel case and walking over to his bed he peeked out of his window once. The streets were all empty, everything was quiet. He closed the curtains and cuddled up under his blanket, his alarm set for 7 am.
