"What kinda Mer are you?"

"I've never seen the likes of you around here before. Your skin is so pale, have you not been eating properly? And your ears! So rounded, who cut them off? You don't look like any kinda mer I've ever seen. Where's your tail?" Questions bubbled out of the curious mer, who stared with wonder at the strange being a few feet away on the shore.

"Haha. You're a curious little creature, aren't you? And you look funny too! Who has blue skin like you?"

"He's not a mer, Sam. He's a filthy human, and we're not supposed to go anywhere near them! The whole lot of them have never done anything good for the ocean."

"Hey now... No need to be so harsh. Humans may be bad, but not all of us are. What are creatures of the sea doing so close to the shore anyways? Neither of you have legs, so I'm suprised you haven't beached yourselves yet."

"Ha. You're one to talk. What are you doing to close to the ocean? You know we're of the sea yet you still come down here."

"Well, duh!" He laughed again. "I'm in my own kingdom, you know. My dad says I'm not supposed to go near the ocean so I wanted to see why. I guess he knew about you guys as well, huh."

"We should go, Sam. It's not safe here, especially if his dad knows what we are. Don't you know where this is?"

"I ain't afraid of a silly little human. We mers have far more power than any huma-"

Three swings, and the sand turned red.

"Well. There goes my clean streak."
