The cold wind brushed past your cheeks as you stared at the stars sparkling and twinkling in the dark sky around the moon as bright as ever. You leaned on the railings on your balcony, smiling at the thought of your parents and grandparents looking over at you from above.

"Grandma, how are you?" you whispered as your smile did not falter a bit. "I miss you. I hope you are happy with Grandpa. And I wanted to apologize for not visiting you ever since the day you left me. But I promise I will visit you soon."

You sighed, thinking about your conversation with Jungkook, "Grandma, you know I have met —no I have been living with this soul now who claims that he is not a wanderer. You told me that every soul on earth is a wanderer so how come he is not one?" You looked down before adding.

"Do you think he is lying? I don't know. I feel like I can trust him. Like I should help him. Like the ability I have been given to see souls, is actually for helping them. I have been having these thoughts for some time now after I have met him."

You smiled a bit, remembering the question he asked you, "You know, Grandma. He wants to be my friend. How ironic, right? No one wants to be my friend but here is this soul, who is willing to be someone I can trust on, even when I have always pushed him away. So tell me, Grandma, should I befriend him and help him out? Or just push him away like other ghosts?" you questioned but it was more like you had questioned yourself.

"Y/N, where are you?"

You snapped out of your thoughts as you heard a soft voice calling your name from your room. "I'm here on the balcony, Jungkook." Soon, you found a smiling Jungkook standing beside you.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, making you look up at the sky again.

"Talking with my family." He followed suit as he gazed at the stars shining as brightly as ever.

"Aren't they beautiful?"

You hummed quietly, tilting your head a bit, "I sometimes wonder when will I become a star and join my family."

Your statement made the latter turn his head towards your direction. Jungkook observed your side profile as he watched you gazing at the sky fondly.

"I wonder, what's my family doing without me?" Jungkook mumbled but enough for you to hear it. Sometimes when you would think that you lived the most miserable life, you would turn around and look at the boy beside you to remind you that there was someone who was suffering more than you.

In your point of view, Jungkook was living a more unfortunate life than you. He died, unaware of the reason for his death, and now he wandered around in this world even when he was not a wanderer as he claimed. He did not even remember his family or any memory of them. Sometimes, you would pity him, he did not deserve this life, no one did but a person like him surely did not.

And why would you think like this? Because throughout the past few days, you had lived with him twenty-four per seven —just because he would stick to you like glue and his reason for that was to 'protect you' although you did not go to school after the incident as your wounds needed time to heal— you had noticed the way he would become happy so easily even at the small things.

Just like that one day, when you were making a cappuccino for one of the customers, you noticed his longing gaze at it as he had never drunk it before and was dying to have its taste. You had felt something weird in your heart. Feeling pity for him, you had decided to make him one too. The moment you had held the glass of cappuccino in front of him, his doe eyes lit up, gasping at you with his bunny teeth full-on display.

You did not know why but at that moment, you had felt satisfied as if seeing him happy made you alive. As if you had a friend now and you were not lonely anymore.

Jungkook had given you a very huge toothy smile and hugged you with all he got before taking a sip from his cappuccino. He looked like a baby drinking his favourite beverage, a baby you would want to protect with all your being. He would easily find joy in every little thing, which betrayed his pure and innocent heart. He is the most adorable ghost I have ever met.

Your train of thought was cut short when a hand waved at your face. You shook your head before looking at his hand, then moving your gaze towards his face. "What are you thinking?" he asked making you smile sheepishly at him before clearing your throat.

"I was thinking that I have been enough serious for a day. I should stop, it's not good for my health." You joked trying to light up the atmosphere.

Jungkook chuckled at your attempt to change the topic before voicing out his thoughts, "Never knew you could joke as well."

You raised an eyebrow at him, "Well then you know nothing about me, babe." Jungkook's breath hitched at the nickname, a faint blush appearing on his cheeks making you taken aback a bit. Eh? Ghosts can blush too. You thought amused by the new information you just got.

"I can make dad jokes too? Wanna hear some." Jungkook unknowingly nodded, probably still caught up with the new nickname you gave him. "How do we make holy water?" you asked smiling hugely while watching Jungkook as he thought for a while. At last, he shrugged when he could not find an answer.

"You boil the hell out of it." With that, you cracked up laughing maniacally not caring about your weird laugh anymore or the boy in front of you. Jungkook looked at you weirdly as if you had grown two horns on your head.

"What? You didn't find it funny?" you inquired him squinting your eyes.

"Not even a little bit," he bluntly stated before adding. "Now that I think about it, you are much weirder than I thought." You glared at him, stomping your foot and making your way inside your room.

"You are not sleeping with me today so better get your ass out of my room." Jungkook's eyes widened in horror at the possibility of sleeping on that couch again which had nearly broken his back —technically impossible but still it was uncomfortable for him. "Oh my god, Y/N, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that. I'm sorry. Please forgive your little friend here."

And that night went with Jungkook begging you to forgive him and you eventually did, not being able to resist his puppy eyes.

A string of continuous beeps was heard as the heart monitor displayed the heart rate of the patient lying on the bed. The patient's chest was moving up and down calmly as his eyes were closed.

A nurse with a tray in her hand walked towards his bed, gazing at the patient in her sight. She glanced down at his features before looking back at the tray in her hand. She placed it on the bedside table, lifting the syringe in her hand. She filled it up with some type of fluid, moving it close to the patient's arm when a hand caught her arm twisting it behind her back.

She hissed in pain, her hand letting go of the syringe. "What the hell you were going to do?!!" a male voice spoke, twisting her arm.

"I was injecting him with his regular medicine." She was able to speak even when she was in pain.

"Sir it's the poison," another person spoke as he inspected the small bottle of fluid that was filled in that syringe.

The man holding the nurse glared at her before putting handcuffs around her hands. "Take this nurse to the police station. I will investigate her by myself." Another person did as he was told as he brought the nurse outside of the room.

The man who looked like some chief of the police walked up to the person laying on the hospital bed. He caressed his hair, watching the person with affectionate and soft eyes. "I'll protect you with my life."

You were combing your hair, staring at your dark brown ones through the mirror. Jungkook appeared beside you, as he too gazed at you. Your eyes flickered to his noticing his stare. "What?" you questioned with a blank face. But he just continued his intense eye contact.

When you were done with your hair, you were turned around by Jungkook as he moved his gaze all over your face. You flinched feeling his cold fingers grazing at the marks on your face given by your bully which had faded a bit. "Does it still hurt?" he asked, genuine concern lacing his voice.

You smiled shaking your head, "No. Not anymore."

Jungkook locked his eyes with you, his gaze filled with worry, "How did you even manage to endure the pain she gave you till now?"

You sighed, not reowing the answer to his question. You did not know how you had endured the pain through the past four years but you wanted to protect Seo Ah and maybe, you had this little wish inside you to die by her hands so that you could meet your family.

Jungkook observed your expression as you were deep in thought, his only wish now was to protect you. Even if he was a soul, he would still try his best to save you if you got in danger. And he uttered what was in his mind,

"Now that I am here, you don't have to endure it anymore. I will protect you."

To be continued.
